  1. I had 2 glasses of wine 9 days post-op. I did not feel any different than I did drinking 2 glasses of wine before the band. I am only 17 days post-op now, and what I have found is that I can't drink like I use to or I don't know if maybe it is that I am scared to overdrink so I stop at 1 or 2 glasses or wine. I do have to say, I will not have beer again, I did not spend all this money and go through this surgery, to risk streching my pouch.

    Gas pains....

I was banded on Feb. 11, 2010, and I am still suffering from gas pain after I eat. I have noticed that nothing takes it away, not gas-x nor walking. I have walked my but off and have still had gases. I find that the only thing that takes it away is time. After I eat I usually have gas for a few hours and little by little is goes away.
  3. Thank you so much for your response, you are truly and inspiration.

  4. I am sorry if I sound a little fustrated, but I keep on reading that bandsters need to make proper food choices, exercise, and keep calorie intake low average 1200. If I could do all of these things, then why would I have gone through with the lap band surgery. I am also very fustrated because I am 12 days post op, and I am keeping my caloire intake low; it is taking a lot of will power because I have no restriction, but yet I still have not lost any weight since the first week of surgery. I really don't know if this is going to work out for me. This might just be a really expensive failed diet attempt. I have followed doctors orders exactly. I reallly don't know why the scale does not move, I am starving and really disappointed with this decision.

    i like shopping now :)

Wow you look great. How much weight have you lost? What do you eat, and do you exercise? Sorry for all the questions, I just hope I can progess like you have.
  6. I am 11 days post op, and everything I eat except the protein shakes gives me gas. I feel really incomfortable after I eat. I am still on pureed foods. Does anyone else feel like this after the eat? How long is this going to last?

    Is something wrong?

That is funny, I was about to post the same question. I am 11 days post op and I lost 12 lbs. the first few days, but I have not lost anything since. I also drink about 2 protein shakes a day, and pureed food for dinner. I don't know why I am stuck. I can't wait for the first fill. I really wish this works for me, at this point I am a little discouraged.
  8. Everyone says that this is band is not magic and that you will need to do the work, but if we could of done the work then we would not have needed to get the band. I see so many people don't lose any weight. If we stuffed our face before why would we not stuff our face now. I really don't understand. If you don't have restriction then you can eat all you want and not lose weight or even gain weight, and if you have restriction then you feel sick all the time. If you get to much restriction then you can't even drink water, I would really appreciate if someone who has lost some weight would let me know how things have gone for them. Sorry I sould a little fustrated, I just hope I didn't spend a bunch of money for nothing.
  9. I am doing pretty good. How are you doing? How do you feel? I still don't feel like myself, I get tired a lot easier. I can't wait to feel normal again. What are you eating? I am still on full liquids. I have lost 12 lbs. since surgery date 2/11/10. I too am trying to learn my way around this site.

  10. Everything is going pretty good, how are you doing? I have lost 12 lbs. since surgery day, 2/11/10. I am starting to be able to eat more. I am still on full liquid. What are you eating? I have noticed that after I eat I don't feel very good. I think I still have gas, I don't know if this is possible 9 days post op.

  11. I am in the full liquid stage and I was wondering if anyone can give me any suggestions. What resturant or fast food place sells creme or pureed soup or and type of food I can eat while I am in the full liquid phase. I go out to eat often and I really don't know where I can eat. I would appreciate any help.
  12. I was banded 1 week ago. My stomach is still very swollen and my incision cite still hurts. Is this normal? How long does it usually take for the swelling to go down, and how long does it take for the incision pain to go away? I get very uncomfortable if I sit for very long because my stomach feels so big, and I still can't bend all the way down. I went to the doctor yesterday, but he felt around my incision and said everything looked great.

My Journey - 6 months post op - down 79lbs

How long have you been working out? Thank you so much for sharing your journey with us.
  15. I am 6 days post op and my stomach is extremly swollen and I have a lot of pain at the incision cite. I feel like my incision is going to burst open. I really look 9 months pregnant. Did anyone else have swelling for a long time? I saw the doctor today, but he did not make a big deal about it. I had the hiatal hernia and lap band surgery the same day.
  16. That is a great question I was about to ask the same thing. I am 6 days post op, and I can eat very little, I went to the doctor today and I told him that I had restriction and I asked him if that was normal and he said no, that most people don't have much restriction until they get their first fill.
  17. You look great, you also look super happy. What do you eat and how much do you work out? I really hope I look like you 5 months post op
  18. I have been banded for 6 days and I have lost 12 pounds so far. I pretty much living on 1 protein shake, some broth, and popsicles. I was wondering if once I start eating solid food, will I gain some weight back. I intend on following a low cal. diet, and exercise. Has anyone experienced weight gain after they were back on solids?
  19. I was banded on Thursday and I still feel really bad. I have no energy. I feel very full after just a little bit of water or tea. I can't even imagine having jello, oatmeal, applesauce, etc.... I am not even able to finish a whole popsicle. I had half a popsicle yesterday and felt very full. Will this go away? Why am I feeling this way? I am worried that I will never be able to get my daily water intake, and even less eat any normal food. I am so worried that I might have made the wrong choice by getting this band
  20. I am 4 days post op. I am on a liquid diet, I am having little sips of clear broth, tea, posicles, and water. I have protein to make protein shakes, would I be able to add a strawberry or 2, and a slice or two of bannana when I mix the shake in the blender. Before surgery I would usually make my protein shakes like this. In my family we are big protein shake drinkers, even my two little one's love the protein shakes.

    Is this normal????

Thanks to everyone for your replies. Thank you Amy I am glad to find someone that feels the same way I do. How have you lost 28 lbs. already? Were you on a liquid diet before surgery. I have lost 7 lbs. in 4 days. I did not have to do a pre-op liquid diet. It will be nice to keep in touch with all the Feb. bandsters.

you look great. How much weight have you lost? You must be really happy with your progress.
  23. I was banded and had a hiatal hernia repair on 2/11/10. I had been feeling horrible, I could not hold down and fluid and was throwing up everything I ate. I had not had any fluid in about 2 days so I finally went to the ER. I had a upper GI done and it showed that only a very tiny amount of fluid was passing through the band, the rest was staying my esophagus and that is why it would come back up. Wait until you hear this..........The doctor finally figured out that there was an error when placing the band and someone left 2cc's of fluid inside the band, so with the 2cc restriction and the stomach swelling fluid was not able to pass throught the band. The doctor pulled out 2cc's of fluid and immediatly I was able to keep down a glass of water, I feel so much better. I really thought I had made a big mistake the last couple of days. The doctor said that when placing the band they are suppose to make sure that they remove all fluid before placing, someone did not do their job, I don't know if it was the doctor, or if it was one of his techs.
