I have a 10cc lap band with only 2cc's in the band. I have these episodes where I think my stomach gets irritated due to heart burn and my band seems to get so tight I can only get fluids down. This happen to me once before when I had 4cc's in the band and had to have 2cc's removed because everything was getting stuck. I have had problems with the band since day one ( I was tight since the very beginning). I am just worried that even if I get the 2cc's I have in the band removed that this will happen again. What will I do if I am too tight and I have no fluid in the band. I just want to say that even before I had the band, I always suffered from stomach irritation from time to time, but now it is horrible because when it happens I can't eat because of the band. I have lost a total of 50lbs. since surgery in Feb. 2010. I was appreciate any input or any stories of any other bandsters that experience this.

I did a stupid thing and need help
Bell1138 replied to Chargenrse's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't worry you can't cause an ulcer so quickly. I also think the pills are probably stuck. You might need to throw up because they might be stuck in your esophagus, which in turn would give you horrible chest pain. Don't worry I don't think you have caused any permanent harm.. Good luck.. -

What's up with the hernia repair?
Bell1138 replied to JMinDallas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also had a hernia repair and I was self pay, my surgeon did it for free, but if your surgeon is on your insurance plan then your insurance will pay for it. The hernia repair has not be great. I have so much restriction and I only have 2cc's in a 10 cc band. My surgeon told me that the restriction is coming from the hernia repair, he said that a hernia repair on its own will give you restriction, and then having the band, and having 2cc is giving my the restriciton I have. I do not eat very much in one sitting. I was banded 4 1/2 monts ago and I have lost 45 lbs. I just wanted to let everyone know that they should not be surprised if they feel restriction after a hernia repair and band surgery even if they have little or no fluid in the band. -

Vomiting every day...
Bell1138 replied to LapBandBobbi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a 10cc band with only 3.5 cc's in the band. I was fine after my last fill, but recently my band got tight for no reason. The only thing that goes down fine is soup. I am finding it hard to eat anything solid. I also vomit almost everyday, I was on liquids for a few days then I tried to eat again, but I feel that any solid food gets stuck. I am so fustrated, I don't know if I should get an unfill, I feel that 3.5 cc's is so little. -
I am in a similar situation. I have the lap band which holds 10cc's I have 3.5 cc's in my band. After my fill I was fine and able to eat food just fine. For the past 6 weeks, I find it very hard to eat; the only thing that goes down fine is liquids. It seems that everything I eat gets stuck and my stomach starts to hurt when I eat. I don't know what to do anymore; I just want to be able to eat a piece of fish. I think that my stomach might be irritated which is causing the band to be tighter.

When did you really start to lose the weight?
Bell1138 replied to giggles&curls's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 7 weeks post-op and I have lost 23 lbs. I really did expect to lose more. I am amazed how some people have lost 80 lbs. or more in 8 months. I really think I could have lost these 23lbs. without the band, I hope things begin to progress atlittle bit faster. -
I was wondering what are some good choices in a Chinesse restarurant. I am terrified of getting stuck.
-
I was just wondering if anyone new what percentage of people succeed with the lap band and how many are unsuccessful?

I went in for my second fill today, I have a 10cc band and I have 4.5ccs in it. I feel a lot of restriction. I can barley drink fluid, I feel like the liquid stay sitting in my throat. I told the doctor during my fill when he gave me a glass of water to drink before I left, he said that I should bare with it, and as the days go by, I will begin to have less restriction. My question is, how long does it usually take to get a little bit less tight after a fill.
-
I had 1cc taken out, I spend the whole night throwing up any water I drank. Atleast I can keep fluids down now. Wow that was bad. I have simpathy for anyone who gets an overfill. Thanks to everyone for your responses.
-
Thank you so much, it did help. I feel like I have a knot in my throat and that the water is just sitting in my esophagus. I am just worried that I will not be able to get the adequate amount of fluid intake. I want to feel restriction, but I want to be able to drink fluids. I have thrown up the water twice. I am really trying to keep it down, but it feels like if it is not going through. The doctor said this is what having a lot of restriction feels like. He said it would get better in a few days, but I just hope I don't deydrate.

I am going for my second fill tomorrow. I am 5 weeks post-op I had 2ccs put in at 4 weeks, but it did nothing. I am still able to eat a lot. I only had 2ccs put in because I am so scared to be so tight that I can't even swallow. I have a 10cc band. I would like suggestion from others with 10ccs bands. How much should I put in this time? How much do you have in your band and do you feel restriction? Thanks in advance.
-
Two cups of food. I just have to make sure I chew really well, put I don't feel full fast.
-
Do you have a lot of restriction with the 5ccs?
-
I am 5 weeks post-op and I feel like if I am doing good. I have lost 17 pounds no pre-op diet. I have only 2ccs in my band, so almost no restriction. I have not eaten any bread since before surgery, I am scared that I will get stuck. One of my favorite food is subs, especially a cold cut trio on wheat from subway, will I ever be able to eat a sub again. I would not want to eat so much bread until after I have had some significant weight loss. My question is, are their bansters out their that eat subs without a problem? Will I have to give up subs forever?
