    Liquid diet Constipation

Today makes day 4 for me post surgery, and I had my first bm a few minutes ago. Mrsinto has a good point, when you are only drinking liquids there is nothing solid in there to come out. Increase your water intake helps. I had not had the urge to go since my surgery, and all I had been drinking was Clear Liquids. I had 2 oz Protein shake this morning (I was very nauseated and it was either that or vomit, and I didn't want to vomit) and needless to say about 2 hours after the Protein Shake I went to the restroom. No cramping, no pain, no diarrhea, just (sorry to be gross) soft serve ice cream. Quite painless

    Herbalife

I was using them on my pre-op diet, and I found them quite satisfying. There is an Herbalife business right down the road from me, and they are like a smoothy bar, that's all they serve is the Protein shakes. They are around 250 calories each, and you get a shot of aloe vera juice and some green tea, all for 5 dollars! I honestly enjoyed them, and it was nice having someone else make your shake for you.. if you do have an Herbalife smoothy bar around you then try the Butterfinger smoothy. It's just like eating the real thing!
  4. You look amazing!!! Gives me something to work for motivations wise! Thank you!
  5. I was a nervous wreck!! I am 3 days post op, and I can honestly say I am in pain, but that's from the gas and the incisions are sore but thats normal. Otherwise it's amazing how just a little bit of water, jello, broth, etc fills me up and I'm not walking around starving to death. Ya wanna know the one thing that scared the poop outta me? The whole idea that there was some foreign object that is in my body. I just could not get my mind wrapped around that, now that its here I don't even think about it. It's like an extra appendage I'm so use to I'm not aware of it anymore. Well until I cough or pass gas. Then the incisions hurt. But otherwise the worst part of the entire surgery is the gas. Dont stress yourself out! It's all good
  6. haha I will never be able to think of ice cream, potato chips and dip, & fried foods the same again.. I can say since I am only 3 days out from surgery that Jello fills me up.. seriously. It's amazing how you feel satisfied
  7. The Lap Band is not a miracle fixer. You didnt get where you are over night. Yes I have heard that you can gain your weight back, but that's what fills are for, watching your calorie intake, making sure you exercise, and sticking to your guns and not over indulging in the things that got you to this weight to begin with. The band is a tool.. its not going to work unless you use it right.

    Hello Everyone!

Let me tell you this, its going to hurt, but its so worth it! The gas is what hurts the most, otherwise everything else is bearable. The gas though.... whew that is painful :/
  9. Today makes day 2 of my liquid diet. I stayed over night in the hospital last night after the surgery. Today I am home and I am starving.. I think. Im still sore and gassy but I question is when do you start stage 2? I tell myself I am going to wait a few more days and just stay on the clear liquid diet but the hungry side of me wants yogurt, or sf pudding, or a Protein shake..lol I go Thursday to my post op Dr. visit. Any suggestions?
  10. I meant the sugar substitute in the sf jello and the sf popsicles. I have fresh stevia growing in my garden, but getting out there to get it is a big no no. I use to be a sweet n low fanatic, but I got away from it when I realized it was giving me bladder spasms. If I absolutely had to put a sweeter I would use Splenda or stevia drops. I usually use raw sugarcane sugar or go with applesauce to sweeten something..but of course I'm not baking anything..lol I will get my hubby to get me some sugar free apple juice!
  11. Sorry everyone, I feel like a total whiny butt, but I do appreciate all the answers!!
  12. the nausea is mild, I think its from sinus drainage. But all the sugar free things are making me go ick. I have not had sugar substitutes in over a year, now I am eating them and they are just soo sweet. I think I might stick with the broth's, ice, and water for a while today. No more sugary tasting stuff.
  13. How did you get past the nausea? I woke up this morning feeling fine, now I'm gassy and nauseated. And this broth is just not cutting it. :/
  14. I'm home today! I feel partially human, but the gas is kicking my tushie!! One thing for sure, broth and popsicles are my BEST FRIEND!! I'm starving though, well until I eat a popsicle then I am full for about 10 minutes..lol then I'm hungry all over again. When should I start on stage 2 diet? I would hurt someone for some yogurt..lol but I'm still sore and I do not want to push it at all... I guess just talking about it makes me feel better and makes me not want to screw it up, so I am going to stick to the clear liquid diet for at least another day until the soreness goes away.

    Congratulations!!
  17. Thanks everyone! I can honestly say I feel much better than I did yesterday! Just sore today. Inside and out.. Lol but more outside than in.
  18. Hey Lisa, I'll be honest with you, it hurts like hell!! But I have no regrets. Today I'm feeling better and I'm still glad I did it. I had to, otherwise I was afraid I was going to kill myself with my weight. Some have the surgery and have no problems, I just had severe nausea with the gas. Moving and walking helps helps HELPS! DON'T let my post scare you! I regret nothing! I'm just a big old baby sometimes when it comes to pain. Add me as a friend we can so this together
  19. I'm feeling so much better today. I'm sore but I don't feel like I did yesterday. I'm having the best breakfast of beef broth, Popsicles, jello!! The Popsicles is the most most most amazing thing. Moving helps you burp and pass gas which makes you feel way better too!
  20. I did it today. Today was my surgery date. I'm in a lot of pain w nausea and I was dry heaving earlier. So I am staying overnight. Walking feels good but it makes me lightheaded and nauseated but I'm starting to feel better. Would I do it again? Ask me in a week. But I am glad it's over and I'm starting the next best journey of my life
  21. I've been out of surgery for 6 hours. I had bad nausea and kep dry heaving. I hurt like a mofo and any I feel like someone punched me several times in the stomach. I'm staying over night because of the ďry heaves and coughing/gagging fits. Would I do it again? ask me in about a week lol

    Unable to get lapband

    what happened?
  25. Tomorrow is the big day for me. I have butterflies in my tummy, and I'm excited and nervous. I am about to go pack my bag (its just a day surgery, no overnight), but I'm bringing a pillow for the car, my Pj's, a pair of socks, chapstick, my charger (just in case I do end up staying), my headphones to go with my phone, and of course me! I am ready here too; I have my liquid Tylenol, 2 boxes of gas-x strips, heating pad, cold compress thing, sf Jello, sf popsicles, broth, cream of Soups, and my friend just bought me a bullet I have my measuring cups and spoons, (2 sets each) and my small divided plates. I feel like I am forgetting something! Any suggestions? Helpful hints? Words of wisdom? aacck Im nervous! But on the plus side, I have lost 5 pounds
