banded, banding, bands--verb--To assemble or unite in a group
LeighaMason replied to LeighaMason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Melody-- You should claim every pound lost! I don't care how you did it, you did it and you deserve the credit. (I'm so glad your back) Mental picture: Julia Roberts in her hooker costume with waders. HaHa. Christie-- Is this a blind date or someone you just met? Details, we need details. Stacie-- I haven't even thought of boots. I haven't had a pair of high top boots in years, my calves were always too big for them to zip. Maybe I will go try some on. Crystl-- The whole bear thing is crazy to me. Do you see them? Are they aggressive? I hope everyone has a great day! -
When did it stop being a diet...
LeighaMason replied to zeniada's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me the band was a diet, but a diet with an end. Once I got to my goal size, I stopped dieting and have stayed in a 3 pound range for a month. I just weigh every morning, if I am closer to 132 I eat more calories, if I am closer to 135 I eat less calories. -

banded, banding, bands--verb--To assemble or unite in a group

Its cooled off here! After months of 90's and 100's today is 70! I am so tired of the a/c blowing. I have some anxiety issues that have to do with repetitive noises and the a/c really gets on my nerves. I'm not sure who would get the worst end of the deal on the husband/kitty trade. But I have an ex wife in law that I could throw in to the mix. Yesterday was my step sons birthday so we had my mother in law and the kids over for a get together. I was making sushi and had made cupcakes when the boys mother called and wanted to come get him and take him to get an ice cream. Um, hello?, we are having a party for him right now. Oh and our 7 year old lab has started peeing in the house! WTH!?! Last night I was in bed and had opened the door to the porch and he comes in my room walks over to the door frame that goes to the bathroom and pees on it like it was the normal thing to do. How does that start? Melody, I'm glad to hear your doing well on your low carb, I'm rooting for you. Denise, Hows the mouth? -

Melody, I agree with your carb addiction theory. I think everyones body responds differently to certain things. My husband gets sick if he eats too much dough. pizza dough, bread and even 1 beer gives him a tired, headache, flu like feeling that can last for days. I hope you find a group you like and good luck getting off the carbs this week. Its kind of like the pre op diet, it sucks but you can do it! -

Hey everyone, I am home from my jailbreak. It was a lot of fun, I didn't finish last, as a matter of fact I was about 10 min in front of the last finisher. However, when I was almost at the finish line a guy passed me who was in the next wave so he started 30 after I did, showoff.:tt1: My knees and elbows are scratched and bruised, and when we were done we had to be hosed off with a fire hose because we were so muddy. I assure you its been a quick minute since I was muddy enough for the hose. 2 big NSV's 1) I beat my sons girlfriend. 2) When we were stretching I figured out I can almost do the splits again. I am only about 4 inches away. I will post some pics when they are processed. -

I just got home from my jailbreak, my knees and elbows are scratched and I was so muddy they sprayed me off with a fire hose when we were done. I promise its been a while since I was hosed off. I didn't finish last, I was about 10 min ahead of the last finisher and I beat my sons girlfriend. I used a waterproof camera so I will post pictures when they are developed. It was a lot of fun. I am looking forward to the next one in March. -

Good morning everyone. I am like Crystl, I read everyday but I really don't have anything important to add, I am staying between 132 and 135. I had one day that I was 137 on a Monday but I knew that I had not eaten enough to gain 2 pounds so I just ignored it and was back to 134 two days later. I have gone back to drinking wine and I haven't exercised in a week, my life has been very stressful for the last week or so. But my eating is good, since I had the .2 unfill I can eat anything, so I have started eating a bagel thin with my Breakfast. I have been canning and I canned some blueberry butter so for the last few days I have been having a bagel thin with a fried egg and blueberry butter for breakfast. It fits in my calorie budget so I am happy about that. I have decided to become a food snob and only eat foods that are fresh, frozen or canned by me. (With the occasional restaurant meal) I canned some Peruvian Beans that are really good and I am going to make some different relishes and sauces to put on meats to add variety to our dinners. I will post some pics when I do. Tomorrow is the jailbreak race that my son, his girlfriend and I are going to run. 3.8 miles through mud, over obstacles, and through mazes. I hope I am able to finish, I am starting to get nervous. Well I better get ready for work, its time to make the donuts. -
Needing a slight UNFILL BAD!! But scared to gain weight back!!

Congratulations on joining the ranks of food snobs. I am not eating anything that doesn't taste wonderful, life is too short to eat crappy food. -
How much food is enough?
LeighaMason replied to zeniada's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I put 2-4 oz of meat (weighed on scale), 1/2 cup veggies, 1/4 cup of starch on my (little) plate then I eat until I am no longer hungry. For a long time, I struggled to eat it all then I finally learned that its OK no to eat everything on your plate. By weighing and measuring you will learn what a correct portion of food is. Before I was banded I had a very distorted view of how much I should be eating, I would cover my big dinner plate with food and then eat it all. For instance I would eat a 12 oz steak, a large baked potato (probably 2 cups worth) and a cup of green Beans. So I would basically eat 6 times as much food as I should have. -
What stood out to me is that you are not eating during the day. If you do not eat during the day your brain thinks its starving so it tells your body to over eat at night. Start eating on a schedule. Breakfast 9 am 250 calories, snack 10:30 am 150 calories, lunch at noon 250 calories, snack at 3:30 150 calories and then dinner at 7 pm 250 calories. If your out during the day, fix a small cooler with these things in it and at those times. Eat on schedule, come hell or high water! (I'm in Texas too!) It will help you at night. Let us know how it goes.

COMPULSION to eat?
LeighaMason replied to sparky1582's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
After I was banded I found that I had a compulsion to finish my food. If there were 2 bites left I felt a need to eat them or I tried to make someone else eat them. I also found that I had a "value system" when ordering food, I thought there had to be a big portion for it to be worth it. I selected food from a menu based on how big of a portion it was. It took a while but I worked through these things and stopped doing them. (Most of the time.) -
Oh look, your dating a grown up! Someone who can get past personal hurt and forgive someone. I always think someone is still "attached" if they insist on being mean to each other. It takes way more energy to be mean, you have to still care a lot to take the time to do it.

KCG, What is your name? (I feel funny just calling you by KCG.) I'm glad to hear your doing well with your eating. I am 134 this morning, I have been eating well but drinking wine most nights and not exercising at all. Its been stressful at work and I have been fighting with my husband. But I have been canning vegetables and fruit which I really enjoy so that is keeping me sane. I hope everyone is having a great week. -
Exercise is messing me up....help

Have you looked at active.com? They have a sports nutritionist who talks about being hungry after a work out. Here is a link. Active Expert: Nancy Clark RD CSSD: When should I eat after a long, hard workout? | Active.com -
Erick, Congratulations on your decision to get banded. I wanted to share with you a wonderful side effect from my surgery. My son is 15 and has been overweight on the Dr's charts for years. About 2 months ago, when he saw the changes that I have had, he decided, on his own, to stop drinking sodas and to cut back on junk food. He told me this past weekend it has been 2 months since he has had a soda. I am so proud of my success with the band, but I am even prouder of the fact that I have influenced my son to take control of his health at a young age too. I hope the same for you and your family.

Should not have read surgery stories. Need reassurance
LeighaMason replied to gracierose's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery on 10/20/09 (Tuesday) at 10 am, rode home 2 hours from Dallas around noon, rested at home, took the pain medicine that night so I could sleep, rested the next day, just kind of laying around on the couch and then went to work on Thursday. The pain in my stomach was similar to starting a new gym routine from scratch and being sore from that and I had pain in my shoulder that was similar to a sprained ankle. -

Don't worry it gets better on regular food, I gained on mushies and then started losing on regular food. I should qualify that means regular food as in quality, healthy food not regular food as in processed fast food. -
Todd, She loved her Dr. he drove 45 min to remove her fill before she had her surgery. She would be happy that you were using him as well.

I need some help and motivation
LeighaMason replied to InLoveWithMe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do not lose weight on processed foods. Can you take your lunch instead of eating at Wendy's? Or Wendy's has a side salad, you could bring a pack of tuna and sprinkle it on their side salad with a little dressing for a better choice. I keep those flat packages of tuna with me at all times with a plastic fork, it really helps if you get caught without something healthy to eat.
