State Delegate Bob Marshall ® of Manassas says disabled children are God's punishment to women who have aborted their first pregnancy. -
Fish works really well for me, it doesn't have a lot of connective tissue so it goes down soft. Its what I use for a few days after a fill. Sam's has individually frozen fillets in the freezer section that aren't to expensive.

PURE STAGE- how many ounces with each meal??
LeighaMason replied to Mapasanchez's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I tried to keep all my meals equal to or less than 1 cup. And I measured so I was sure. If I still felt hungry I would eat again in 2-3 hours but I was so worried about stretching my stomach that I was strict about the amount. I don't know if it helped but it didn't hurt! :tongue_smilie: -
Hello! Hello! New here...
LeighaMason replied to prdmommyof3's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was self pay in Dallas with Dr Kim at Forest Park. It was $10,200 with 6 months fills at Forest Park. I think he does it for $9500 without the fills. If you decide to travel, I recommend finding a local fill Dr first. I have my fills done under floro and I think it makes a big difference. I think the people who have the least success don't have a plan for the fills before they have surgery. I believe the fills are more important than the band itself. By the way, its worth every dollar. -
I am a craigslist junkie and I have seen these on there, maybe you can get one really cheap.

When people say things like that it all I can think is...if your god would intentionally give a baby a disability based on the actions of the mother, I don't want to "accept him in my heart" he isn't worthy.......... -
I am very happy with my band but sometimes I am eating something and I am loving it so much then the band says "Don't take another bite OR ELSE" and I start pouting. My husband will look at me and can even tell by my expression that I am disappointed. (He is the cook) But these feelings are fleeting and what I was enjoying was not nearly as cool as fitting into clothes that I couldn't wear for the last 10 years. So basically it depends on what is important to you. (be honest with yourself) Some people would rather enjoy food than be thin, if that is the case don't get the band. If you are willing to sacrifice the ability to eat as much of something as you want and you are willing to go to smaller portions the band might be for you.

Newly banded - how do you gain weight after lapband?
LeighaMason replied to MrsCabes's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I gained weight between my surgery and my first fill. I thought I had wasted my $10k (self pay). But since then I started getting fills and I have been losing an average 2 lbs per week. Don't worry right now. You should be healing your body. Once you are eating regular foods and start getting fills then you will have restriction and start losing (as long as you are eating the right things). -
Tell your girl at work she can kiss my @$$. We were banded a week apart and I have lost 37 lbs as well. Thats 37 hard won pounds that are not coming back and I am proud of each and every one of them. Isn't it weird how other people are threatened by our weight loss?

Very pretty. Congratulations.

Patty, I am confused about your link for Born Again American. When you click on the "take the next step" tab and then click on the "People for the American Way" on the bottom right they have this under the "Take Action" tab. Tell President Obama: End the discriminatory policy of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" by repealing it in this year's defense budget. "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" is not just job discrimination, it's discrimination against patriotic Americans who are willing to make incredible sacrifice in the defense our nation. Further, the policy weakens our country, both symbolically -- by undermining our core values -- AND in a very direct way -- by undermining the strength of our armed forces. The time has come to end it. Dump DOMA It's time for some real change we can believe in. It's time for the federal government to stop punishing loving same-sex couples. It's time to repeal DOMA (the Defense of Marriage Act). President-elect Obama says he supports the repeal. Take action right now to make sure Congress sends him the legislation. and my personal favorite: Tell Congress How to Restore Justice Justice has been on vacation for eight long years. It needs to be restored. That means restoring checks and balances, accountability, transparency and the rule of law -- some of our most fundamental constitutional values that have been stepped on and undermined by the previous administration. People For has a new Campaign to Restore Justice and a three-point petition to congressional leaders. So you support an organization that supports same-sex marriage and the repeal of don't ask, don't tell? I have my doubts but if you do I am impressed.

Fave iPhone apps for tracking food and exercise?

Lose it is my choice as well. Plus they have a web site with lots of other reports available. I have been using it for a year now. I also use virtual weight just for visual motivation. I downloaded ifitness but I dont use it. -
I got my fill on Thursday and then liquids for 2 days, when my nurse does a fill she does it under an xray while I drink barium. Then she can see if I have enough restriction or too much. I think it helps a lot. I ate fish on Saturday but I had brisket tonight, I had to eat it really slow but I had about 2 oz's.
How was the birthday? And the beach? (I am so jealous that you have a beach)

The lady who does my fills is also banded. She told me that being too tight is worse for weight loss than being too loose. She said we should be able to eat normal food just not a lot of it. She said she wants me to be able to eat any healthy food and not resort to sliders just because I was hungry. If you cant eat turkey and gravy I would talk to someone at my doctors office. Being too tight wont stop snacking it will only stop healthy eating. Then the only thing you have left is snacking, then you feel bad about it so you snack some more, its a vicious cycle. This might also account for your lack of energy to go to the gym? I dont know for sure, just some suggestions?

Whillow, I saw your other posts. Do you think you could be too tight? Do you do your fills under floro?

My mother in law (the nicest, funnest, smartest lady in the world) says that when she feels like this she gives herself 2 days to have a true "pity party" she lays in bed, whines, complains and feels sorry for herself. Then she gets up and puts it all away and goes back to thinking good thoughts and doing the things she knows she should. I think this is wonderful advice. I hope you get to feeling better. I know you can do it, I have read your posts, you are a positive person. Just a little blip in the plan.........

I am going in the kitchen right now to soak the garbanzo beans that have been in my pantry forever...... -
I was self pay too. And I started questioning my decision after surgery. I gained weight after the surgery but before my first fill. So then I thought Crap! Another failed diet, but this one had a $10k price tag! Then after my first fill everything started working out wonderfully. I just had my 3rd fill and I am sailing right along averaging 2 lbs a week. I even started working out last week!

Question about Post Op Followup from your Dr.
LeighaMason replied to ChristopherDallas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Dr Kim did my surgery too, I had a horrible case of gas but didn't know what I could take the night after surgery so I called his office about 10PM and he personally called me back within 5 minutes. That was back in October and I haven't talked to him since, but I haven't needed to. I feel like if I need them they are just a phone call away. I get my fills at Forest Park (I love those people) and I have called them a couple of times with questions. -
Morality used in its correct sense has nothing to do with Christianity. One can be perfectly moral and not be a Christian. In its "descriptive" sense, morality refers to personal or cultural values, codes of conduct or social mores that distinguish between right and wrong in the human society. Describing morality in this way is not making a claim about what is objectively right or wrong, but only referring to what is considered right or wrong by people. For the most part right and wrong acts are classified as such because they are thought to cause benefit or harm, but it is possible that many moral beliefs are based on prejudice, ignorance or even hatred. This sense of term is also addressed by descriptive ethics.--Wikipedia (There is more but I just used the first paragraph for the sake of space.) So declaring someone immoral because they don't have the same religious beliefs that you have is just not accurate.
