Congratulations on your banding date. You have a lot going on! Good for you. I got my pre surgery drinks from my Dr. Maybe they could mail them to you? Mine were powder that I mixed with milk so they wouldn't be too expensive to mail. Good luck. Leigha

Good luck, I hope your insurance comes through. I am a big proponent of low BMI banding, you don't have to wait for a tumor to be out of control before you have that removed. Why does your weight have to be? Keep us updated on the process. Leigha

Not sure what to expect
LeighaMason replied to aliison88's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
We will be happy to help you. Anytime you have a question someone on this site will have an answer for you. Maybe there is a support group at your Dr office that you can join if you want support in person. Or if you look through the forums there is also an age specific forum for young people. If you post there you will get more responses from people that are your age. Good luck and I hope you sail through the pre-surgery process. -
Hey Stephen, Congratulations on your band. I am impressed with your questions about college. So many people just think they will get the band and everything will be rosy. I feel like the fact that you are asking these now and preparing for the future will really help you later. Sorry I don't have any answers for you but I am rooting for you. By the way, there is an age specific forum for young people you might want to repost your question there and you might get more response.

Where did my restriction go?????
LeighaMason replied to MelsPage's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know about it going away overnight but I didn't even notice it when it did. I had good restriction after my 2nd fill, everything was going along fine, then I stopped losing weight. One night I was eating and my husband goes "boy, that was easy for you" then I realized I had eaten my whole dinner in about 5 min. That is when I got my next fill. Maybe it was slacking off for you a little at a time and you didn't notice it until now? -
Good luck with the unfill, I cant really help on the kidney stone, I have never had them but I agree with the unfill if you are throwing up you could hurt yourself and have to start over. I hope you feel better soon.

Morons getting on my nerves!
LeighaMason replied to DizzyLizzy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh no, Australia too? I thought one day I was going to escape the idiots here by going there. Dang. Liz, I am with you. Unfortunately, even though there are laws against your boss telling your personal health information to your coworkers they are almost impossible to use. I hope your job situation gets better, maybe someone will get pregnant unexpectedly and everyone can move on to discussing that instead. -
So It's True...Haters will emerge as you lose!
LeighaMason replied to titiay30's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I guess we should add my Mother to the hater list. My older step sister had gastric bypass probably 5 years ago. All I have heard since then is how nice and young she looks since she has lost her weight and had her plastic surgeries. I am very happy for her and she does look good. My Mother called me last night and wanted to know how much I have lost, after I told her she said "Don't lose too much, you don't want to look old." So after weight loss I guess my step sister looks good but I will just look old. -
Let me know what you find out. I would like to know. But I also want to say congrats on the 52! In 4 months thats great. I am happy for you, I am especially impressed that your doing it while you are still feeling hungry, that means you are mostly doing it on will power. Good job. I hope it gets easier for you.

FYI, before I posted my response to your obvious racial attack of President Obama, I showed it to my best friend, (the one who is thinks that black people play the race card too much) she happens to be black and she thought it was purely racially motivated as well. Let me see, you post racially offensive material and I am immature? You make me sick. People like you make it hard for people like me to even want to be called a Christian, I certainly don't want anyone to think you and I are the same thing. In case you don't know, you push people away from God every day with your sanctimonious attitude. Proverbs 11 1 The LORD abhors dishonest scales, but accurate weights are his delight. 2 When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom. 3 The integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity. Your fake numbers that you post are your dishonest scales, your pride is apparent, and your duplicity (hypocrisy) is legendary.

I'm ready to do this!!
LeighaMason replied to anewme42010's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Good luck with your journey, I didn't have a weight problem either until my son "ruined my body" (sarcasm). I also tried every diet including diet pills (they are straight from the devil) and I am so grateful for my lap band. Let me know if I can answer any questions for you. :smile2: -
Amen to the tired of dieting part. Me, too.

Waiting to be banded
LeighaMason replied to theknewme's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was banded 10/20/09 (Tuesday) and had no problems at all. I was able to walk within an hour of waking up from surgery and I was on my way home 2 hours later. I had some soreness but nothing major. I went back to working Thursday, however my job is not that physically taxing. I had shoulder pain from the gas but nothing to worry about. I took the pain meds on Tuesday and Wednesday every 6 hours then I only took it Friday and Saturday about an hour before I went to bed to help me get to sleep. Then smooth sailing every since. (mostly :smile2:) -
Congratulations on your decision and welcome to our Forum.

Good, then I am electing you to be our positive girl! Your picture is so pretty. I am jealous of the dimples.

Thats one of the funny things about the Forum, those of us who think getting a fill is no big deal don't think to mention it. Thanks for speaking up for us.

my first attempt at food
LeighaMason replied to Awkward customer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a hard time with sardines (my favorite). :smile2: -
I don't think its head hunger because when I am through eating, if I take one more bite I am in pain. It is not physically possible for me to eat another bite or I start slimming and throwing up. Maybe because of your anatomy your pouch is a little bigger than others? I would ask the Dr if that is possible. When you say you can eat 8 oz's. Like a 1/2 cup (size) or like 8 oz of steak (weight)?
-
I think maybe that older fat is harder to get rid of. I can easily lose the 160-195 fat (just not keep it off) but the 135-159 fat is what I have a hard time with maybe because it has been here for 15 years?

Once again the racist right speaks, white people pictures go on money, black people pictures go on food stamps.

What I have learned as "The rules of a good bandster" 1) Be as nice to yourself as you are to others. No pointing fingers or being judgmental. (Per BetsyB) 2) Be accountable for your actions. Journal your food and exercise. 3) Reach out for support when you need it. 4) B!tch (and moan)when you need to, then get back to doing something productive. (Per my mother in law) 5) When you mess up, start over. Tomorrow is a new day! I hope this helps you, I wish I was close enough to recommend a fill Dr., I use one in Dallas but I think that is too far for you. A good fill Dr. who works with you is so important for this to work. Remember if the band worked by itself it wouldn't have the port for adjustments, they would just put it in and be done.
