Big time plateau

I started making sure I got at least 900-1000 calories a day on Tuesday and I dropped the pound I had gained and lost another today. -

LeighaMason replied to LeighaMason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would like to take the time to tell everyone who answered my questions about exercise and calories, Y'all are geniuses! I have already lost the pound I gained and today I lost another one! I am going to quit bullying my body to lose weight, I always start something and then well if 1000 is good, only eating 500 would be twice as good! Lifting weights is good so lifting every day would be better! But slow and steady wins the race. Thank you, one and all. -
Pre-op diet...COUNTING THE Minutes
LeighaMason replied to pmommy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Its OK, it will be easier than you think, think positive thoughts! " When I go to the hospital, I am going to go to sleep, get my band, wake up and feel fine, then I am going to get up and walk around for the nurse, drink my water so they see everything is OK and then I am going to go home with my new friend, the band. Everything is going to go great! I will just be a little sore, nothing I cant deal with" You can do it! We will wait for you here, see you tonight!:blushing: -

Still can't believe I'm going to do this!
LeighaMason replied to StarsZie's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Just starting and making the commitment to try is impressive. If you have to walk part of the way, then you do. But even if you walk the whole way you are still doing better than the 90% of us who didn't even sign up! Celebrate your success! Lost 100 pounds! (OK I am rounding up just a touch), Signed up for your first race! Using your elliptical every other day! I'm sure your cardio capacity has improved greatly! Who cares if you walk a little your doing it! I am so impressed. I am going to check on the couch to 5k program as well. Thanks for your story. -

Being from the south I receive 3 Republican propaganda emails a day that are total fabrications. I am going to post them here. I welcome anyone who would like to post Democrat emails as well.

If you are an illegal immigrant in Texas you get: A job where you use a fake social security number where your employer draws out 7.65% of your check and sends it into the Medicare/ social security system and you can never receive any benefits. Plus they take out Federal income taxes and send those in, you don't dare file a return. You wouldn't dare go and get a drivers license or social security card because they would call the INS. (Of course you could buy a fake SS# from an INS agent and use that to get a drivers license) Welfare and food stamps! Please they run your SS# and deport you immediately. They know your SS# is fake. Credit cards? Subsidized house loan? Once again, the SS# you are using is usually from a deceased person and it shows on the credit report when the credit is pulled. Free education and free health care? Once again you wouldn't dare to step foot in one of these offices. You might get free health care if you were taken to a hospital in a life threating emergency, but only stabilizing care.

VERY QUIETLY OBAMA'S CITIZENSHIP CASE REACHES THE SUPREME COURT AP - WASHINGTON D.C. - In a move certain to fuel the debate over Obama's qualifications for the presidency, the group "Americans for Freedom of Information" has Released copies of President Obama's college transcripts from Occidental College. Released today, the transcript school indicates that Obama, under the name Barry Soetoro, received financial aid as a foreign student from Indonesia as an undergraduate. The transcript was released by Occidental College in compliance with a court order in a suit brought by the group in the Superior Court of California. The transcript shows that Obama (Soetoro) applied for financial aid and was awarded a fellowship for foreign students from the Fulbright Foundation Scholarship program. To qualify, for the scholarship, a student must claim foreign citizenship. This document would seem to provide the smoking gun that many of Obama's detractors have been seeking. Along with the evidence that he was first born in Kenya and there is no record of him ever applying for US citizenship, this is looking pretty grim. The news has created a firestorm at the White House as the release casts increasing doubt about Obama's legitimacy and qualification to serve as President article titled, "Obama Eligibility Questioned," leading some to speculate that the story may overshadow economic issues on Obama's first official visit to the U.K. In a related matter, under growing pressure from several groups, Justice Antonin Scalia announced that the Supreme Court agreed on Tuesday to hear arguments concerning Obama's legal eligibility to serve as President in a case brought by Leo Donofrio of New Jersey . This lawsuit claims Obama's dual citizenship disqualified him from serving as president. Donofrio's case is just one of 18 suits brought by citizens demanding proof of Obama's citizenship or qualification to serve as president. Gary Kreep of the United States Justice Foundation has released the results of their investigation of Obama's campaign spending. This study estimates that Obama has spent upwards of $950,000 in campaign funds in the past year with eleven law firms in 12 states for legal resources to block disclosure of any of his personal records. Mr. Kreep indicated that the investigation is still ongoing but that the final report will be provided to the U..S. attorney general, Eric Holder. Mr. Holder has refused to comment on the matter... LET OTHER FOLKS KNOW THIS NEWS, THE MEDIA WON'T ! Subject: RE: Issue of Passport? While I've little interest in getting in the middle of the Obama birth issue, Paul Hollrah over at FSM did so yesterday and believes the issue can be resolved by Obama answering one simple question: What passport did he use when he was shuttling between New York , Jakarta , and Karachi ? So how did a young man who arrived in New York in early June 1981, without the price of a hotel room in his pocket, suddenly come up with the price of a round-the-world trip just a month later? And once he was on a plane, shuttling between New York , Jakarta , and Karachi , what passport was he offering when he passed through Customs and Immigration? The American people not only deserve to have answers to these questions, they must have answers. It makes the debate over Obama's citizenship a rather short and simple one. Q: Did he travel to Pakistan in 1981, at age 20? A : Yes, by his own admission. Q: What passport did he travel under? A: There are only three possibilities. 1) He traveled with a U.S. .. Passport, 2) He traveled with a British passport, or 3) He traveled with an Indonesia passport. Q: Is it possible that Obama traveled with a U.S. Passport in 1981? A: No. It is not possible. Pakistan was on the U.S. .. State Department's "no travel" list in 1981. Conclusion: When Obama went to Pakistan in 1981 he was traveling either with a British passport or an Indonesian passport. If he were traveling with a British passport that would provide proof that he was born in Kenya on August 4, 1961, not in Hawaii as he claims. And if he were traveling with an Indonesian passport that would tend to prove that he relinquished whatever previous citizenship he held, British or American, prior to being adopted by his Indonesian step-father in 1967. Whatever the truth of the matter, the American people need to know how he managed to become a "natural born" American citizen between 1981 and 2008.. Given the destructive nature of his plans for America, as illustrated by his speech before Congress and the disastrous spending plan he has presented to Congress, the sooner we learn the truth of all this, the better. If you Don't care that Your President is not a natural born Citizen and in Violation of the Constitution, then Delete this, and then lower your American Flag to half-staff, because the U.S. Constitution is already on life-support, and won't survive much longer. If you do care then Forward this to as many patriotic Americans as you can, because our country is being looted and ransacked! I am just going to attach the snopes link instead of trying to explain it, Can you believe this is still going on? I got this today!snopes.com: Obama's Occidental College Records / Meet the Soetoros

Too much fluid in band...feel like a failure.
LeighaMason replied to Winkiespleen's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My new favorite saying "You haven't failed until you quit!" as long as you are working with your band you can not be termed a failure. You have lost almost 100 pounds. How many people have done that? Seriously. I got a fill last month that just kept getting tighter, .7 then I went back 10 days later and they took .3 out. What a relief! There is no reason for you to suffer. Take a little out. The band is for teaching you sustainable eating habits. You cant live the rest of your life on a few bites of food at a time, besides it will encourage grazing and then weight gain. A half unfill isn't bad. Then you will still have some restriction. I don't think you can be getting your proper nutrients from the way you describe eating. So yes I think lack of food could be affecting your mood. Have you talked to your Dr that prescribes your depression meds? Maybe they just need tweaked. Plus we could all use some sunshine. I'm sorry that you are feeling sad, do you have some preop pictures that you could compare to your current ones? (If you don't have current ones you really need to take some) Sometimes when I am sad I minimize my accomplishments and if I have a visual reminder that cant be denied it will make me feel better. 100 pounds has to make a real difference in your appearance! Try and concentrate on the positive. Try and silence the inner voice that is saying bad things (OK maybe you don't have this but I do, I have to shut it up a lot!) Good luck and keep us posted. -
I am really confused and having a bad day
LeighaMason replied to Mapasanchez's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Me too! I started working out and here is what my friend BetsyB told me on another thread (cut and paste) I hope this helps! Are you making sure that there's a day of rest in between each time you work a certain muscle group? (In other words, if you're working out M-F, are you doing upper body on M, W, F, and lower on T-Th?) I ask, because it's really important, in terms of building muscle, for you to give this time. When you lift weights, the muscles form tiny micro-tears; during the day of rest, these heal, thereby building new muscle tissue. If you don't have that rest time, they don't heal---and it can cause damage. As for the relationship between the scale and lifting weights---well, it takes about 8 weeks of consistently working out to build a pound of muscle, so you're not likely seeing much fat displaced by muscle yet. BUT, weight lifting causes gains for another reason. When you lift, your muscle cells need more oxygen than your body can get from breathing. So, they use a process called lactic acid fermentation to derive oxygen from materials they have. The byproduct, as the name suggests, is lactic acid. This is the stuff that makes you sore after a workout. It's also the stuff that makes weight lifters get that "pumped" look right after working out. How? It draws Fluid into the muscles. What happens is this: the body likes homeostasis. When there is more lactic acid in the muscle cells than there is in the surrounding fluid, fluid moves (by osmosis) into the cells to even things out. The kidneys ultimately do an exquisite job of ridding the body of both the excess fluid and the lactic acid (the day of rest plays in here, too), but in the meantime, the scale shows a gain. I always am up a little after a weight workout. For my own home weigh-ins, it doesn't faze me. But if I'm having an "official" weigh-in, I make sure my last weight workout was at least 24---and preferably 48--hours before. (I will schedule my appointment for early on a day when I'm due for a workout, then do it after I've been weighed.) It's just water---but if it's getting written down in my chart, I don't want it! -
Anyone banded around 10-14-09?
LeighaMason replied to southernbelle13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think everyone should use their band in the way that suits them, if you want to keep eating what you want, you will lose slower but you know what? To each his own! Whats wrong with that? If that makes you happy that is what you should do. I think its so easy to make this a race, as a matter of fact I decided earlier in the week that I was being too aggressive in this thing and I decided to relax a little. I have been trying to bully my body into losing faster and faster until it has finally told me to "stop or else". And by the way, I don't know that you are losing slower. Your ticker says 42, mine is 41 and JM's is 56 but she told me part of that was pre-op, I think she is about 42 or 43, too. -

LeighaMason replied to southernbelle13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use 3 things to get my Protein in, 1) Greek yogurt from Sam's Club called Chobani, has fruit and tastes good, 140 cal, 14g protein. 2) EAS carb advantEDGE Protein Drink, tastes OK, 110 cal, 17g protein. 3) unjury chicken Soup flavor powder, mix with 1 cup of Water, tastes like chicken broth, 90 cal, 21g protein. Julliansmom, I don't care how tight I am, I have to have a snack in the afternoon, period. But I can use one of the above and not hurt my plan. Some people cant go 6 hours without eating (me) I ate lunch around 2:30 today and I just had a yogurt. -

Me, too. I decided (with the help of my great friends here) that I wasn't getting enough calories. I was only netting 500 -700 So I am upping my calories to see if that helps, I will let you know. -

LeighaMason replied to southernbelle13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was 10/20. I have lost 41 pounds and 24 to go! I have been singing the blues for a 10 day plateau, but I guess I am just being a crybaby since I can't bully my body into doing what I want. I started working out 3 weeks ago and I don't think I have been getting enough calories so I have committed to getting more, today is my 3rd day of trying to get 950-1000 net calories. My band was 5.1 but I was too tight and I had .3 removed so I am 4.8 in a 10 band. How are you doing? -

I would like to contribute a handy suggestion from the south. The guys here who dip tobacco get a disposable cup (preferably not see through) and put a couple of paper towels in it. This way if you knock it over it doesn't spill. This is what I use, my husband really enjoys this because he knows I have a MAJOR problem with spitting (OK its more of a complex). Its so gross but the alternative is worse! If only my Grandmother could see me now!
