Who's with me to loose the last 20?
LeighaMason replied to Mommy of two's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I rode my bike today and yesterday to work (5 miles) and I am riding home today. I am thinking of getting a body bugg to really see how many calories I actually burn. I journal my food religiously so maybe if I had an accurate burn count I could make a decision to exercise more or eat less. I havent lost a pound in 2 weeks! Crap! I got to change something. -
banded, banding, bands--verb--To assemble or unite in a group

I called as well, they are going to pull the saline from my band and check to make sure everything is OK on May 6th. And I wanted to tell everyone that I found some really cool tuna's at my local Mexican grocery store. They are called Dolores tuna and have 6 different flavors for those of us who are getting tired of regular old tuna. (Plus they have a pull top can.) I am having chipotle sauce tuna straight from the can now and it is wonderful! 210 calories, 30g protein, 3 carbs. :scared2: I love chipotle! Have a great day everyone. -

Wikipedia Obesity is one of the leading preventable causes of death worldwide.[8][19][20] Large-scale American and European studies have found that mortality risk is lowest at a BMI of 22.5–25 kg/m2[21] in non-smokers and at 24–27 kg/m2 in current smokers, with risk increasing along with changes in either direction.[22][23] A BMI above 32 has been associated with a doubled mortality rate among women over a 16-year period.[24] In the United States obesity is estimated to cause an excess 111,909 to 365,000 death per year,[2][20] while 1 million (7.7%) of deaths in the European Union are attributed to excess weight.[25][26] On average, obesity reduces life expectancy by six to seven years:[2][27] a BMI of 30–35 reduces life expectancy by two to four years,[21] while severe obesity (BMI > 40) reduces life expectancy by 10 years.[21] -

Me too! I am hungry every 2-3 hours I am still eating small meals but only because I measure them, I know I could keep eating if I wanted to. I haven't had the full signal in a couple of weeks and I just had a fill last Monday. Anybody have any ideas? ETA: I haven't lost a pound in 14 days and I haven't been exercising other than my gardening. -

My Dr banded me at 34 BMI, not because he was greedy but because I had been using diet pills for years to keep my BMI so low, who knows how much damage I did to my heart with them? Obesity is obesity, you don't have to wait for a lump in your breast to be a certain size before you treat it, why would you have to wait for your obesity to be a certain size before you treat that? -
Mother's Day Challenge Anyone?

I am still stuck, so 0 for me this week, I guess I better get busy on the workouts! -
I forgot to mention one thing, at 150 I wear a 10, my half-sister wears a 10 at 130. We are the same height. So who knows?

Have you considered giving yourself permission to stay at the weight you are for a while? I have only lost 50 pounds but I am having some issues accepting it. Maybe if you took a break from trying to lose and just worked on accepting yourself as you are now with the intention to lose more later if you chose to. Could you be content where you are now and feel pressured by others to lose more? This might not be the case but I thought I might mention it. Because I am thinking I might not lose as much as I originally planned. Now when someone asks how much more I plan to lose, I say somewhere between 7 and 17 more pounds. Now I am planning to let my body tell me when to stop not my scales, not my preconceived plans, and not other peoples ideas of what I should weigh.
-
The reason I say those things is that I don't want anyone going into this thinking "I will have surgery and then I will eat less and lose and never have to diet again" It does not work like that for most people. I am on a "diet", I am still in my losing stage and I journal what I eat, limit my choices, and exercise even when I don't want to. When people post that they are unhappy with the band, they usually say things like "I wouldn't have got the band if I knew I had to diet". I think the band is not really for losing the weight it is for keeping it off, you have to do the work to lose the weight. Plus day after day of selecting the right foods, stopping at just a cup when something tastes really good, working out when you just want to read a book gets old. Mentally you just want to go back to your old ways, because it is easier. But the rewards of fighting through these mental roadblocks are wonderful. Its hard but everything that I ever did in my life that I was proud of later was hard. Its kind of like having a child, being pregnant sucks, labor really sucks but you get a wonderful reward at the end. Good luck with your journey.

What does "always", "most of the time" and "sometimes" have in common? They are positive agreements, they mean yes. Never means no. How do you justify claiming the 65% who "sometimes" trust the government as being on the "no" side? You either trust them or you don't. The people who don't said "never". So quit trying to claim 80%. The real number is 11%.
-
OK the choices were "JUST ABOUT ALWAYS" 3%, "MOST OF THE TIME" 19%, "ONLY SOMETIMES" 65% AND YOUR GROUP "NEVER" 11% AND "DIDNT KNOW" 2%. Mar 11-21, 2010 3 19 65 11 2 January, 2007 3 28 63 5 1 February, 2006 4 30 59 6 1 Mid-September, 2005 3 28 63 4 2 Mid-March, 2004 4 32 59 4 1 February, 2000 5 35 56 3 1 May, 1999 3 28 62 5 2 February, 1999 4 27 64 4 1 November, 1998 4 22 61 11 2 February, 1998 5 29 61 4 1 Here are the historical rates and you can see they pretty much stay the same. First number is "just about always", 2nd number is "most of the times" 3rd number is "only sometimes", 4th number is "never" and 5th number is "dont know" (sorry but charts dont copy and paste well here) Here is the link if you want to look at it in original format. http://people-press.org/reports/questionnaires/606.pdf

I just re-read the article, I cant find where it says "80% of Americans do NOT trust the government." Can you point it out to me? I saw this "Only 22 percent of Americans surveyed by Pew say they can trust government in Washington "almost always or most of the time" . But since you dont know what the other choices in the survey were you cant say that the other 80% "dont trust the government" because you dont know how they answered. I will look it up and get back to you on this.

I know math isn't your strong suit but 20% is not a "majority"

Oh Anne! I am so happy for you! Only a month away! The time will fly by. HB-Snow? Holy crap, OK come on down and stay with us in Texas, its raining but its going to be 80 here today, then high 70's and low 80's for the next week. Christie--Congrats on the BMI category change! Who the hell decided to call it morbidly obese anydamnway? Chick--Good job on the inhaler, it will definitely make your life easier. Your so brave to take the genetic tests, I just cant face them. I'm still stuck on the same number, but I will probably have lost a pound by tomorrow, I have gotten to where I can feel it. (strange I know) I am going to declare my intention to be at goal weight on July 4th. On Independence Day 2010, I intend to be free of the excess weight that I have been carrying for the last 16+ years. As a matter of fact, I think I will add that to my signature. Have a great day everyone! -
I am at 147, and losing slowly, I am trying to be at goal of 130 by July 4th so by Memorial day I would like to be 139.
-
At 185 I wore a 14, at 170 I wore a 12, at 150 I wear a 10. I hope this helps. By the way I think that the sizes get closer together as you lose, so you might have to lose 30 to get into a smaller size at first but when you get under size 12 then they go about every 10 pounds.

-97 pounds... my one year bandiversary... in my largest size (28)... this time with another person in the skirt with me!!

Patty Do you even read these articles that are suppose to support your position? "Americans' trust in government and its institutions has plummeted to a near-historic low, according to a sobering new survey by the Pew Research Center." So if they are at a near historic low when was the historic low? Answer from the article: "But the trust numbers were even lower at the close of the George W. Bush administration, dipping below 20 percent." So technically they have risen since Obama took office. "The proportion of Americans who say they are "angry" with the federal government has doubled since 2000, increasing from 10 percent to 20 percent." What happened in 2000? Bush took office.

Well I think my port incident was a false alarm, I seem to be tight this morning as I am drinking a shake and it is gurgling down. I am going to call my regular fill nurse and make sure that she logs the incident on my file but I think everything is OK. HB--Thanks for the advice about getting it logged. I am so scared I am going to have something happen that costs me another bunch of money! Chickadee--I wonder if the weight loss was more a emptying of your digestive track and then refilling when real food was reintroduced? I usually have a bounce when I lose. I go 10 days or so without a loss, then I lose a pound a day for 2-3 days, then sometimes I gain 1 back and lose it a day or 2 later. Shammah--It sounds like you could use a fill, but I do like your Dr's advice of going slow. Karen--Congrats on your fill-(I saw it on FB) Anne--That is so great, only a month away! Hope everyone is doing well! -

Have you tried chicken thighs? They work much better for me (and they are cheaper!). I also eat a lot of fish. Beef works fine for me but it has a higher calorie count so I try and limit how much I eat. I posted a blog on what I eat here is a link... I recommend journaling your food on a website like fitday.com or dailyplate.com or I use loseit on my iphone. It really helped me see where I could trim my calories here and there and really improve my weight loss. Good luck! P.S. I don't think there is a physical reason that you cant treat this year as your first year and do just as well. -
Hey Shell, I live in Tyler but I was banded in Dallas. I heard Dr Beall is good and I have met Dr Babineau at a business function and he seemed nice plus his practice is a Center of Excellence. If you are self pay like I was Dr Kim in Colleyville is very reasonable, price wise and is also a Center of Excellence.

You can say you are getting a life insurance blood test on Monday and your liver enzymes will be elevated if you drink and they will turn down your application.
