You will feel much better when you can eat a regular diet. Plus in a few weeks you can start getting fills that will help with the hunger too. Once you can eat regular food your carbs will go down and you will start losing. Don't worry bandster hell is almost over for you.

banded, banding, bands--verb--To assemble or unite in a group
LeighaMason replied to LeighaMason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good morning everyone! Good news I have tomatoes! And gardenias and hydrangeas, my back yard is beautiful and shady, and full of mosquito's. I have started week 4 on C25K, yesterday I ran 3 min two times and 5 min two times. So I ran 16 out of 32 min. I am getting stronger and I am happy about that but I am not losing weight. I am seriously considering taking a break from trying to lose. I am at a good weight right now I would just like to get rid of some fat pockets but apparently not bad enough to work harder. I know that if I want to lose more I am going to have to do one of three things, A) Workout harder. Workout longer. C) Eat less. But I just don't want to. I guess as I progress in the C25K , I will work out harder but that is all that I want to commit to right now and expecting better results without more work is silly. So maybe I am saying I give up, and I am going to just maintain here, at least for a while. :tongue2: -

I'm calling tech support tomorrow. I think its a technical problem not something a coach can help with.

I finished W4D1 today, I was nervous but it went fine. I used Map my run to map a 5K in my neighborhood. So starting Tuesday I am going to use that route and see how long it actually takes me to go the distance.

really worried....

Yep, the same here. I thought I had just started a $10K failed diet. Then I started getting fills and like they say "Everything you know about dieting works once you have the band" -
I see a lot of good things that you are doing in your posts, like no sodas or candy, lots of exercise, drinking your Water. One thing that concerns me is when you say sometimes you go 5 -6 hours without eating, if I go too long without eating I get really hungry and which leads me to overeat and then I am hungry the rest of the day. I try and keep Protein bars with me just in case. But be careful some of them are no better than candy bars, they need to have 1g of protein for every 10 calories. I also keep tuna packs and a plastic fork. Being prepared is so important to my eating plan. Are you using a web site to journal your food? I think it is so important to point out hidden calories. When I had my first plateau I told my husband I wasn't losing but I was doing everything right, and he said no your not, and pointed out things that I eating and not taking into consideration. Once I started journaling I made better choices because each time I ate something that was high in calories that I didn't realize I would tell myself, I'm not eating that again. So even if you journal for a few weeks it will help you see where extra calories are sneaking in. My friend uses fitday.com and loves it. Be sure and weigh and measure everything you eat. My old boss use to say "If you keep doing what your doing, your going to keep getting what your getting." So basically if you want a different result you are going to have to do something different. I hope some of this helps you in some way. And one last piece of advice, listen to your Dr.

Its official my BB does not work, I see everyone saying their burn is 2600-3500 and I struggle to get 2000. So today I tested it, I left my bike at exactly 4 and got home at 5:05 I used map my ride and I rode 7.35 miles in 1 hour and 5 min. I do walk my bike back up the big hill I live on so lets say I rode 1 hour and 7.25 miles. This is East Texas so it is up and down hills. My bike is just a cruiser not a 10 speed so even though I averaged 7.25 miles an hour it is not easy. The BB says I burned 137 calories. By the way it was 90 degrees outside. I used an internet calculator for a one hour leisurely bike ride it estimates 386 calories. I am beyond pissed. Oh by the way I burn 1.2 calories while I sleep but for 30 min of my ride I only burned 1.0 calorie per min. :smile2:

I think a plateau means your body has gotten use to what you are doing and to progress you have to do one of 3 things: 1) Exercise more. (longer) 2) Exercise harder. (intensity) 3) Eat less calories. I am at a plateau and I don't want to do any of the above so I am choosing option 4, pouting. I am so mad because I want to lose more but I don't want to work harder. Thanks for letting me vent on your thread.

I'm sorry you feel like you failed, you haven't but I understand that you feel that way. Are you looking for advice on how to restart the process? If so please give us some more information about what you eat, how often, plus your exercise if you are doing any and maybe we can help you with a plan. Its never too late to start again.

Does your partner/Spouse frustrate you?
LeighaMason replied to RaeZur's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I personally know 2 people who have had weight loss surgery that didn't work. This is my impression of their stories. Before I was banded a lady that I play cards with tried to talk me out of getting banded. She actually weighs more than she did when she got the band, however, when we play cards it lasts about 10 hours so I see her eating habits. She eats every 30 min to an hour just a little, so she is a grazer. She eats a half a sandwich, 30 min later, a personal size bag of chips, an hour later a candy bar, 30 min later a Dr Pepper, etc for 10 hours. Of course she hasn't lost weight. But I knew my eating habits were different. I ate 2 or 3 LARGE meals a day, so now I eat 3 small meals a day and I have had success with the band. Another lady I know (acquaintance) had bypass, she lost 150 pounds her first year. Then she started back to her old eating habits of sugar and sweets. She gained it all back plus some. My step sister had gastric and lost over 100 and says she no longer even has an interest in food, and has maintained well. I also know 2 other ladies who are banded. One who lost 100 pounds and has kept it off, well she goes up and down about 10 pounds here and there, but has maintained pretty well for over 4 years. The other lady had hers done in the middle of 2009 and has lost close to 100 but is still in the process. So basically I personally know 6 people with WLS. 1) 1 Band-No loss 2) 1 Band-100% of excess weight lost and maintaining. 3) 2 Bands- Still in process of losing, doing well 4) 1 Bypass- Total regain 5) 1 Bypass- 100% of excess weight loss and maintaining. I think you can find someone who has failed at anything. You just have to be sure that you are going to be able to live the banded life style. Some people don't find out until after they are banded that they don't want to live a life that is so structured. -
banded, banding, bands--verb--To assemble or unite in a group
LeighaMason replied to LeighaMason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Anne--Just remember to add 4 pounds to your starting weight and so you have still lost the same amount. Don't let the scales minimize your accomplishments. -

LeighaMason replied to LeighaMason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Crystl--Congrats on your husbands comment, and on the 91 lbs. Isn't it funny how sometimes you lose 20 lbs and everything seems the same and then 5 lbs later its all different. I still get my blue jeans out of the closet and hold them up to put my leg in and my brain goes "No way your butt is going to fit in there!" and then it does. A funny thing happened to me this week, my MIL asked me Wednesday how much I weighed and I said "172" (that is the place where I tried to maintain my weight for years) I'm not sure how long it takes to reshape your brain to match your body. -
Yesterday I Cried...newly banded
LeighaMason replied to TXSassyGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is a fact that being banded saves money in the long run. It saves on food, medications, and lost productivity due to obesity. If it didn't the insurance companies wouldn't pay for it. Its like putting in energy efficient windows and insulation in an old house, it costs a lot now but it saves more in the long run. So as long as you plan to work with your band and lose the weight its a good investment. But I also had "buyers remorse" after I was banded but once I started getting my fills and losing weight, I have never regretted it. Even at $196.15 a pound. I bet you could lose weight, I have over and over again. Losing weight wasn't my problem, keeping it off was. Only 5% of the population loses weight and then keeps it off after 5 years. So you feel bad because your like the other 95% of us? Don't listen to that crap. If you broke your leg and needed crutches would you feel bad because you needed that tool? Or a pace maker? Its a medical device, a tool to help you. You deserve it. Now just spend the next few weeks healing and practicing. Play like you have restriction, measure your food, take small bites, chew, chew, chew. Don't beat yourself up, just hold on until you start getting fills and then everything you know about losing weight will work! I promise. OK I am out of clichés now. :cursing: ETA: Oh look we have the same DR! -
I seem to get tighter about 10 days after a fill. So for me I wouldn't but it depends on how your body reacts to the fills. If you waited till you get back would that put you 2 weeks behind on your fill schedule? Can you live with that? Also if you needed an unfill while you were gone because you couldn't drink water, is there somewhere you could have it done?

banded, banding, bands--verb--To assemble or unite in a group
LeighaMason replied to LeighaMason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I did what I had to do yesterday and I was reminded of something that I always struggle with. "Not everyone thinks like you do". I always react to these situations as "OMG what if I had to move or someone came and got my car" but people are not all the same. When I went to give the girl who lives in my house the eviction paperwork, she was like "oh thats OK I am moving in with my mother in law and she will help me with the kids and it will be a better situation anyway" So I was more stressed about it than she was. Denise-- I'm glad you had a good trip. Wouldn't it be nice if you could just have some salt, sounds like it would work, if you have high BP cut down on salt if its low, have some. Karen-- Whew! Boy thats a load off your mind isn't it? I'm so glad for you. I hope this fill is the one for you, remember to be patient, it took 10 days for my last one to "kick in" but after it did its perfect (Knock on wood) Christie--WTG on the 3 pounds a week! When you get halfway are we going to get some new pics? We should just have an online party when we are all up during the night, I hope the Lexipro helps. Not sleeping sucks. Anne-- 5 days to go. You can do it. I had to tell myself during that time that I can be hungry now if it will make the future better and it did. I get hungry now but now it goes away when I eat, before I was banded I was hungry 24/7. Well I guess I am going to go back to bed now and try to sleep some more. I have to run day 3 of week 3 on C25K tomorrow morning before I go to work. I am doing pretty well with it, I just wish it burned more calories! Maybe when I get further into it and I am mostly running it will. Oh that reminds me of something, did y'all see the new studies on high intensity interval training? (I think that is what its called) I will find it and post it later today. -
I saw a thread today where someone said "Why journal my food, who is going to see it?" Then I saw this in an article posted by Alex from Medical News Today. "University studies show that people who use some form of food journal, web-based or print, lose up to twice as much weight as those who do not, and they also keep the weight off more readily when they continue to record." It may be anecdotal but it seems to be from reading these threads the people who are having the hardest time losing weight do not journal. There are obviously some people here who have done well without journaling, but if you are struggling, maybe you should consider giving it a try. I also know there are some here who journal religiously and are still struggling. Its not a guaranteed fix but it cant hurt to try. Here is the link for the article if anyone is interested. I just spent 50 min on the treadmill at 3 mph and burned 230 calories, my projected daily burn for today is 1828 so I will have to get back on the treadmill for another 50 to get to my 2150 daily burn.

banded, banding, bands--verb--To assemble or unite in a group
LeighaMason replied to LeighaMason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Katie, Don't be scared to eat, it will be fine. Just remember even if you don't have restriction, pretend you do. Only eat small portions, cut everything up into very small pieces and chew, chew, chew. The sooner you learn these habits the better it will be. I relied on cottage cheese a lot during that stage. (Make sure thats on your Dr's list first) Shammah--Don't get me started on the sad state of our education finance situation in this country, we would have to move to the rants forum for that my liberal side gets really bristly when I think of how we treat our educators. My stepson is a teacher and my other stepsons wife is a principal and between the budget cuts and the assorted BS I don't know how y'all do it. Crystl--I hope your situation resolves itself soon. Stress sucks. Today is going to be one of the worst days I have had in a while. I do 2 things to support myself, I have rent houses and I have a small car lot where we sell cars but we also have a rent to own program for people who can not get financed. Well I have a young couple in one of my rent houses who started the month with a hot check, then it was I will pay you tomorrow, 2 more days, my bank account is messed up my husband gets paid Friday and so on until yesterday when I finally said no more, then the girl tells me that her husband moved out, she has no job, no car, her family lives 2 states away, and she has 4 kids under 5 years old, no money and has nowhere to go. And today I have to go and give her the eviction papers. I cant afford to let her live there free, I still have to pay the house payment, taxes, and insurance. I cant support me and her too. Then I have a girl in one of my cars who's insurance is due to cancel today, because of the way the cars are titled if she is in a wreck and someone is hurt they can sue her and us so insurance is vital. I could literally lose everything if someone is driving one of my cars without coverage. I have been calling her all week and she wont return my calls so I have a feeling that she isn't going to pay so if not I have to go and pick up her car tonight. I like what I do because in East Texas there is no public transportation and we help people who have no other options on getting a car but when it comes down to this it really sucks. So basically I have to be an ogre today. -
banded, banding, bands--verb--To assemble or unite in a group
LeighaMason replied to LeighaMason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good morning everyone. Well its 3 am and I have been up for 2 hours. This is not exactly what I want to be doing right now, when I have to get up and go to work tomorrow I am really going to pay for this. I am having major stress and its really affecting my sleeping but there is nothing I can do to change the things that are stressing me so I don't have any solutions just complaints. -
I go out to eat on occasion, and have no problem with it. I make sure and order something I can count on to go down well, usually fish. Then even though I only eat a small portion of my food I have to cut it in very small pieces and eat slowly so I eat a lot less than everyone else but it takes me as long or longer. So we still have a nice, relaxing meal with lots of great conversation, I just have leftovers. Ask yourself, Is your main objective to enjoy the company and the social aspect of the meal or is it to put large quantities of food into your body? Be fair with your answer, because sometimes I still get disappointed when I am eating something that I am really enjoying and my band tells me to stop, but I can take it home and eat it again for the next meal. But sometimes I pout anyway.:w00t:
-
One thing I have learned from my band, if i think something is going to be really good and I decide it is worth it to splurge and I try and eat it but then once its in my mouth it doesn't taste as good as I want it to or remember it being, I spit it out! I am not going to put extra calories in my body unless they are wonderful! Anything mediocre is getting spit in the trash. Not pretty but effective.

No weight loss in over 2 months : (
LeighaMason replied to Nonoma's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Welcome to the club, I am the same way. I eat 800-1000 calories a day and burn 2000-2200 for a negative burn of 1200-1400 calories a day just to lose 1 pound a week. According to regular thinking I should lose 2 pounds a week at that rate. Apparently my body is super efficient, which would be great if there were a famine! For instance yesterday I ran / walked on the treadmill for 40 min. (12 min running) and I burned 2039 calories for the day and ate 874 for a deficit of 1165. So the moral of my story is if I want to lose weight I have to journal my food religiously and workout every.single.day.
