banded, banding, bands--verb--To assemble or unite in a group
LeighaMason replied to LeighaMason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Crystl-- I'm glad to hear you had your unfill, I was worried about you getting dehydrated before Friday. I know it sucks for them to take so much out but they can always put it back. Take care of yourself, I hope you feel better. -

Anne--Good luck with the new doc! Onederland, whoo hooo! Shammah--Water retention sucks! I hope it clears up soon. Karen-- When I gain, as long as its under 3 pounds,I just say the scales are lying, I know that it will be gone in a couple of days. Don't stress too much. Sorry about the test, but you can do it, don't judge your success based on someone else's failure. Maybe he just doesn't test well. I always tell myself when I have to test for something, I am going to do well because I always do well on tests. Somehow this works for me, try it. Amy--Sorry about your pics! Crystl--Get an unfill as soon as you can. Being too tight sucks, I did it for 10 days a couple of months ago, this is how I looked. Bob-- I am so jealous of your guy metabolism. Did you "fix" your posts yet? Stacie--Once again, Onederland, whoo hooo! Guess what everyone, I got tomatoes! However, something was eating the most ripe one, I say squirrel, Rob says bird. And my day lilies are blooming. I ate frozen custard last night and when I got up this morning the scales said I gained 3 pounds (lier) But even if I did it was really good and worth it! So to make up for it I ran week 5, day 2 of C25K this morning, 2- eight minute runs, and Friday I am suppose to run for 20 MINUTES without stopping. (Which scares me but I will try.) I hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend. -
I "enabled" myself to eat ice cream last night and it was wonderful! Then I got up and ran the C25K week 5 day 2 to make up for it. This is life, its messy and not perfect. Do the best you can most of the time, make up for the rest with extra exercise.

I lost 2 pounds! -
[quote name='pattygreen;1471222 That's your opinion. I say that it is. If the embryo were not a LIFE' date=' and considered of any importance, God would not have made it a crime to kill an unborn baby in the womb as written below:[/color'] "And if men struggle with each other and strike a woman with child so that she has a miscarriage, yet there is no further injury, he shall surely be fined as the woman's husband may demand of him; and he shall pay as the judges decide. But if there is any further injury, then you shall appoint as a penalty life for life." (Exodus 21:22-23) In other words, the man's LIFE (the one who caused the miscarriage) for the unborn babies LIFE. Both are considered LIFE to God! Patty --You should use a bible quote that actually supports your position instead of undermining it. Lets break down the above quote into portions so we can understand it better. Part 1. "And if men struggle with each other and strike a woman with child so that she has a miscarriage, yet there is no further injury, he shall surely be fined as the woman's husband may demand of him; and he shall pay as the judges decide. Wouldn't you agree this says if men are fighting and they accidentally strike a woman with child and she has a miscarriage the husband may demand a payment in the form of a fine that the fighting men shall pay, as the judges decide? Part 2. But if there is any further injury, then you shall appoint as a penalty life for life. So further injury must mean further than the miscarriage, now they are talking about the woman not the fetus, (the fetus was lost in the miscarriage, see part 1). So the punishment for further injury to the woman calls for life for life. The injury to the fetus calls for a fine to be determined by the husband.

I have to keep my calories 800-1000 a day and do some kind of exercise for at least an hour a day or I don't lose. I got a body bugg to use to tweak my schedule and it recommended that I eat 1250 a day, I did that for a week and gained 3 pounds. I went back down to the 800-1000 range and lost those 3 plus a few more since then. For exercise I ride my bike, walk on the treadmill, I have started the C25K program, and I lift weights. I do something for at least an hour every single day. And now I lose an average of 1 pound every 10 days. When I first started getting fills I could lose with just diet, then it slowed down and I started walking an hour 3 days a week then that stopped working, that is when I got the body bugg and realized I would have to do at least an hour a day, everyday. I start week 5 of C25K on Sunday and I look forward to July when I am graduated from the program and can run for a solid 30 min. I agree with your statement that "I ran a half marathon at the beginning of this month. There's NO WAY I would have the energy to run as much as I do if I was eating 800 calories." But at this point, I don't have the ability to run a half marathon no matter how many calories I consumed. I am just not in the physical condition to do that. So I intend to gradually increase my physical conditioning and I'm sure as I am able to run further I will increase my calorie consumption to fuel those runs. By the way, I do not intend to keep eating that few of calories forever, when I reach my goal I intend to start eating 1200-1300 a day, keeping the hour a day of exercise and see if my weight stabilizes. If I continue to lose I will up it to 1300-1400 and continue to increase it by 100 each week to 10 days until I know where my maintenance level is. The moral of my story is everyone is different and each of us have to find what works for us.

Couch to 5K process applied to lapband....(No running required)
LeighaMason posted a blog entry in Blog 81574
This is a cut and paste from the C25K website, I have adapted it for the band lifestyle by just changing the words running to banding. "Too many people have been turned off of banding simply by trying to start off too fast. Their bodies rebel, and they wind up miserable, wondering why anyone would possibly want to do this to themselves. You should ease into your banding program gradually. It's easy to get impatient, and you may feel tempted to skip ahead in the program, but hold yourself back. Don't try to do more, even if you feel you can. If, on the other hand, you find the program too strenuous, just stretch it out. Don't feel pressured to continue faster than you're able. Repeat weeks if needed and move ahead only when you feel you're ready." So here is my new banding program, I designed it for beginners but if you are starting over just start on Week 6: Weeks 1&2 -- (Pre-op) Diet start Dr recommended preop diet and follow to a "T" Get banded Week 3&4 -- (Post-op) Liquid diet, once again do exactly as Dr prescribed. Do not try and lose weight during this phase. Week 5&6 -- (Post-op) Mushie weeks, practice weighing or measuring everything, eating off a small plate, eating slow and chewing, no trying to lose weight. Learn to eat less than 1 cup of food at any given meal. You should not be trying to lose at this stage, just trying to improve your eating habits. Week 7 -- Continue with the things you did in weeks 5&6 but also start on soft foods, start journaling everything you eat or drink on an online calculator like fitday.com. Make sure you are getting enough protein. (Specified by your Dr) Week 8 -- Get your first fill, 1 day liquid, 1 day mushies and then soft foods. Now you are going to start trying to lose weight. Continue doing the things that you learned in weeks 5-7 but now that you have a weeks worth of food journaling look and see if you are staying in the 1000-1200 calories a day, with the amount of protein your Dr wants, if not change what can to get it in those ranges. Week 9-- Continue the things you learned in Weeks 5-8 plus add 1 hour of walking 3 days a week. (If you cant make it an hour, do what you can) Journal this exercise as well as your food. Now every week from now until you get to goal you will continue the things above but also think of 1 thing you can do to improve your results and then add that 1 thing. Continue tweaking the program until it is perfect for you. Now if only I could think of a cute name for my program like Couch to 5k! *If there is anything I have recommend that goes against your Dr's instructions, do what he/she says! -
What is your favorite diet-friendly, non-carbonated alcoholic drink?

Cranberry juice and vodka, plus a ride home.. -
The burn "calculators" on most exercise equipment is based on a mans burn. That is why they are usually overly optimistic. This is one of the main reasons I got my BB. I wish we could pick the biggest number and our body responded to that! But still, 400 calories it great! Good job on the elliptical for an hour, there is no way I could make it that long!

banded, banding, bands--verb--To assemble or unite in a group
LeighaMason replied to LeighaMason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good morning everyone. Lee Anne-- I'm sorry to hear about your Mom, we will be thinking about you. Denise-- Hows the BP? Christie--Heres to being a sophomore again! I did it, after a 10 day plateau, I lost a pound yesterday and one today, so I am at 141. I think from here on out that is how it is probably going to be, I am going to have to wait 10 days and then lose a pound or two. I finished week 4 of C25K today, the runnings seems to be the only thing helping me. I am "running" (jogging is more like it) 16 out of 32 minutes. My BB says it burns 293 calories, so I am looking forward to being able to run the whole 35 min. Maybe I can burn 350 or 400. Next Friday I am suppose to run 20 min without stopping , I am very nervous about that. -

banded, banding, bands--verb--To assemble or unite in a group
LeighaMason replied to LeighaMason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Anne--The sleeve is my backup plan, if something ever happens and I had to remove my band that is what I will do. Now if my Dr said I wasn't a candidate for that because I had some physical reason, then bypass would be my last option and I cant really say if I would do it or not. I have found during my life that I said I would "never" do something but then 10 years later there I am doing it so I try and keep my mind open. I guess I would have to decide if it was worth it to me, I think there are definite costs but there are benefits too. After you talk to the Dr. and if he says GB is your only option then you could do a pro/con sheet and see if its worth it to you. After I was grown my mother married a man who has a daughter my age, so we are stepsisters but I barely know her. She had GB about 5 years ago and has lost 100% of her excess weight. She says that she never even gets hungry anymore. But that is really the only person I know personally who has had it. If you have a facebook and want to see pics of her, PM me and I will tell you who she is on my FB. I don't know if she would want me to post it to the whole world. -
I need to read more about it. But if I am reading it correctly and say the technology was advanced further than bacteria and could be used in humans you could use the computer to create a "super persons" DNA (strongest muscles, greater intelligence, best health, etc) and then implant that into a stripped out normal human cell and create a super race.

OH ANNE honey, I have been checking to see how it went all day, I'm so sorry!:smile2: I have to think before I can give you any advice on any other procedure but I wanted to say, I could just cry out of frustration for you. But your safe and sound and back home so we will be happy for that. -
I called BB tech support and they downloaded a fix on my BB, I am going to ride my bike to work tomorrow morning and see if I get a better reading.

Its advertising, as a nation we "buy" any message that is pumped to us enough times. When my friends come from other countries they can not believe all the advertising that we are subjected to. But like I tell them, they do it because its effective, nobody asks "What do they have to gain by telling me this?" Maybe I am just a cynic but anytime someone promotes something to me my first question is "How do you get paid?"

Well at least East Texas is never dull, I stopped behind this truck at a red light yesterday. If you have a dead animal in the back of your truck, can you at least close the tailgate?. Note the blood on the bumper and the "bulls balls" hanging down. Bobbie--Skinny towels! Toot, Toot! Willowcat--Thanks for the encouragement. Amy--"Fake it till you make it" with the fills. Do you have snacks? I cant make it without them, I get too hungry and then eat too much at night. A couple of well placed snacks will save me at dinner. Anne--I will keep you in my thoughts for tomorrow. I bet your so excited! Karen--Trying on a bathing suit, under those lights? WOW, your brave. I'm happy for your small brown suit! Smiling--Welcome to our thread we are glad your here. Shammah--Do you get a lot of time off for the summer? BTW, I don't think I have told you how wonderful your pic's are. Very impressive. Jacki--Congrats on the fill, I guess you are going to have to school us on the quinoa. We eat grits here in the south. Pure carbs! Stacie--Glad your back, even if you don't want to be here. Crystl--You said you make some of your own clothes, does that mean you can downsize your clothes? That would be cool. Everybody have a nice day! -
Please help scared!!!
LeighaMason replied to leslieg's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think its worth throwing up a couple times a month to be skinny, besides its not really like when you have a stomach bug type throwing up. GRAPHIC DESCRIPTION ALERT! If I eat too fast, too much or don't chew properly (my fault and totally preventable) then I start to slime and my stomach makes this mucus plug thing, I go in the bathroom, take a drink of Water, bend over and hack it out, one heave and its over. Not pleasant but not too bad either. Defiantly not worth staying overweight for. -

Its probably your port, mine sticks out too. Once I am at goal I will have a low profile port installed. And yes when I eat it sticks out further. The good news is its really easy for them to find when you go for a fill. -

Why is it harder the second year post surgery???
LeighaMason replied to longlegsally's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Its the same with me, I have 13 to go and it doesn't seem to be going anywhere. I started the couch to 5K program and I am on week 4, once I get to where I can run for long distances I am going to try and run it off. BTW, congrats on the 100! -

Plus I am going to save a ton of money on A/C this year. Before I lost my weight I would have it turned down to 72 and now I keep it on 75 if my family is here or 77 if I am home alone. -
I was never sick until after my 3rd or 4th fill, and then its only when I let myself get too hungry and eat too fast or too much.
