WOW, that might be the most important statement that I have read lately and really gives me something to think about. Thanks.

Labor Day Challenge

"Bumping up" means bringing something to the new page. I am "bumping up" the spreadsheet to the new page so its easy for everyone to find. -
banded, banding, bands--verb--To assemble or unite in a group
LeighaMason replied to LeighaMason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Christie-- I'm glad Steve is through trying to torture you, typical man. Denise-- I hope your MIL feels better soon, I'm sure this is hard on your husband on many levels. Karen & Stacie-- Here is my outlook on holidays, there is roughly one a month. If I limit my stupid eating to holidays I will be fine, its the eating stupid on non-holidays that got me in trouble. Shammah-- Maybe its time for a heart to heart with your Dr. Tell him that his program isn't working for you and see if you get a different result. Crystl-- How are you doing? Dottie-- I hope your feeling better, keep us updated about the knee. Melody-- I guess y'all have our usual Texas weather, its been raining and in the low 90's here, very strange. Its not unusual for July to be every day over 100. Bobbie-- I'm thinking about you and hoping things get better soon. I don't have much to report, I went and got some prilosec yesterday. I have been having heart burn but I have just been ignoring it but after Christie's adventure with Steve, I decided to do something about it. I feel better already. I'm sure a lot of my problems are caused by the spicy foods that I eat. I would eat Mexican food every day but my family complains if thats all we have. Have a great day everyone. -
Sometimes a good reality check is in order. Sometimes I have to give myself a pep talk too. You can do it! BTW, how is your restriction level? Would it help to get a fill? Usually when I am "cheating" at my measurements it means I am hungry and need a fill. Good luck.

I think of it more as a holiday deviation. The great thing about the band is you can start back today. Didn't do well yesterday? Oh well, I will today and that is good enough for me.

How do I break through a plateau?
LeighaMason replied to caricap's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How much processed food are you eating? I find that I don't lose when I eat prepared food. Try eating things that are single ingredients or made from single ingredients. -
Frustrated, venting and don't know where to go from here

My friend had shingles, he complained daily of a pain in his side for almost a year. Sorry, I know its not good news but I think your pain is more shingles related than band related. -

Fills and Food and Finally!
LeighaMason replied to JenFenRen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Now that you have restriction you need to work on technique. Cut your food to the size of a pencil eraser, lay down your fork between each bite, eat SLOWWWLY to give your body the chance to tell you its full and chew, chew, chew. Also if you have been drinking with your meals at this point you need to stop that as well, it will fill your pouch and cause the contents to swell giving you the too full feeling. Good luck (I still struggle with these things too!) -

Why don't you try walking it for a week to start and see how that goes. You can go to mapmyrun.com and map out a 5K distance and then walk it 3 times a week and see how you feel, if you feel up to it then start week 1. Good luck.

Ugh! I went to run this morning and my legs felt like logs! I ran a mile and stopped to get a drink and could not convince myself to start back! So I walked home. This was the worst running day since I started 10 weeks ago. Yesterday, I did a 6 hour marathon cleaning job on my house, moved furniture, dusted everything, washed baseboards, etc. Do y'all think that could have effected my run? Oh, and I got stuck Saturday night so I was on liquids and mushies yesterday. Any ideas?:mad::thumbup::thumbup::tt2:

OK here is what I have decided about this last 9 pounds. They are like bacteria. I have killed of 99.9% of them but that .1% that is left are tough as nails. They have been here the longest and they are stuck to my butt like glue! But I will get them, its just going to take extra effort, so Mr. 9 pounds here is your notice. I am coming for you. I am going to exercise you into oblivion. You don't have a chance against me. Sayonara, baby

banded, banding, bands--verb--To assemble or unite in a group
LeighaMason replied to LeighaMason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Dottie-- So good to hear from you. I'm glad your doing well. Bobbie-- Love your positive attitude. With a great outlook like that your luck is sure to turn around soon! Well my mother in law and I canned tomatoes Sunday and then today I cleaned my whole house, it took 6 hours. I need to space this stuff out so my husband doesn't get use to it. After my trip to south Texas, where I was eating out for a couple of days, I was so sick when I got home, that I have really started thinking about processed foods. I have decided to try and eliminate as much as I can from my diet and see what happens. So I am buying my meat from a butcher shop were they process the meat there instead of buying it already cut up and boxed. I am going to can as much fresh produce as possible. And try and cook from single ingredients. We will see if it makes a difference. -

2 months out -- 2 weeks after 2nd fill and all of a sudden restriction
LeighaMason replied to suf1987's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
suf1987-- This is exactly what happened to me on my last fill. I went for a fill and I was actually concerned that they had somehow poked a hole in my band because my restriction was gone! Then 10 days later it was back in full force. I have been at perfect restriction for 2 months. I also wanted to add that I can eat everything but bread, Pasta and bananas so my band is fairly loose. It doesn't have to be super tight to get your moneys worth, as a matter of fact I believe that having it too tight is the cause of most of the problems that people have. E'sMommy-- Remember that with the band you should lose 1 to 2 pounds a week. At 10 weeks you should be down 10-20 pounds. I think you are doing well but maybe if you were journaling on a web site like loseit.com you could see how many calories you are actually eating, I always think, knowledge is power. Plus on that site you can track your weight loss and there is a chart that shows your trend. When your trend starts getting a flat line you can adjust what you are doing for better results. And sometimes you can just look at it and feel better because you feel like your not doing well but one look at the chart shows that you are. Good luck to both of you. -
I just got back from my run, I was going to start working on speed but I was still struggling to finish so I have decided to just run this week at whatever speed I can and just practice finishing the whole 5K without stopping and work on speed next week.

I need help getting my big butt back on the wagon.
LeighaMason replied to marathonman's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Under eating during the day sets me up for snacking at night. If I get really hungry I stay that way for the rest of the day, so I eat 3 small meals (250 cal each) with 2 or 3 planned Snacks (150 cal each) Good luck -
Low Carb/High Protein? and WW?
LeighaMason replied to Jess55's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am assuming you are on the pre-op diet. The Dr wants you to eat low carb to reduce the fat in your liver before surgery, not just to lose weight. Reducing liver fat helps him place the band and makes the surgery safer. Please follow his directions even if he didn't spell out why. -
How important are the rules really?
LeighaMason replied to SavvyCat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bob-- If you have the food saver, the bags can be boiled so if you put the food in and freeze it you can reheat it by putting it in a pot of boiling water. This is quicker than the oven and no moisture escapes like the microwave. Plus you can save big money by shopping at Sam's or Costco and buying meat in bulk and dividing it up to freeze in small portions.
