banded, banding, bands--verb--To assemble or unite in a group

Did I miss "the time to pick on Denise" post? Seriously Denise you are one of the nicest people on this site and give great advice. So ignore all the haters! We love you. BTW-- I guess I am bulimic too! Shammah-- Your going to be rich and skinny! You can buy new clothes with your promotion money! I wanted to tell everyone thanks for the picture complements. :grouphug: -
to band or not to band.....

i think i officially had my first real PB...yuck!

Bending at the waist and going "bleach" and expelling a mucus plug is not the same as "tossing their cookies". No food is expelled, which would be necessary for it to be a bulimic behavior. When I slime, I get a mucus plug that covers the top of my pouch and puts me in distress. It can last as much as a day if left alone. BTW-- I have worked in the car business for 10 years but that doesn't make me a mechanic. -
Almost every post I have read today someone is using the F word. Failure. Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure... than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much, because they live in a gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat. Theodore Roosevelt Believe you can and you're halfway there. Theodore Roosevelt

I think its a matter of perspective. Your 19 so 6 months is 1/38th of your life and seems like a long time, now if you were 40 like me it would be 1/80th and 6 months goes by in the blink of an eye! So the moral of my story is you need patience. At this rate you will be at BMI of 22 about 18 months after surgery! There is nothing wrong with that! Just take it a day at a time. Your doing good. And now for my new favorite statement "Stop using the F word!"

Maybe the rest of us fixate on fills too much? Congrats!

I have not seen a dietitian before or after surgery. If you feel you need one and don't like theirs you can hire one on your own. Remember, when you are dealing with a bully the best defense is a good offense. Snap on him and he will act better. EX: I do not appreciate your ________ (fill in the blank with the appropriate choice, tone, attitude, etc.) I am paying your salary and I expect to be treated with respect. If you are not capable of that I will have to replace you. ((Square up your shoulders, straighten your back and STARE at him with a frown  and do not speak or look away until he reacts, he will back down, I promise.))

Feeling like a total failure.

I am going to challenge you to name another time where you were 47 pounds lighter than you were the year before. Especially since you now have the ability to keep it off. You have been banded for 3/4 of a year at 47 pounds so at that rate your going to be down about 60 for the year. That is a pound a week and nothing to be ashamed of! How many people do you personally know, other than you, that are on track to lose 60 this year? (Non-WLS people) I don't know any. Everyone I know personally, that have not had any type of WLS, are either the same or fatter than they were last year. I think you need to do what I call a reality check. Find a pre-op picture of yourself. Take a current picture in the same pose and put them side by side. You will be amazed at the difference. I think we are just so use to living inside ourselves that we lose perspective. Your doing great! Just keep working on your choices and exercise when you can. And quit using the F word! -

First Fill Didn't Work??
LeighaMason replied to rocketray's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your brother is a 1%er, your not. (1% never need a fill, 99% do) Get a fill, ASAP, every 3-4 weeks until you have restriction. Good luck. -
First snack attack since banded.....
LeighaMason replied to ELJB's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I plan a snack, every Sunday I get an ice cream. (If I do what I am suppose to during the week!) This gives me motivation to act right during the week, (If I don't get up and run I can't have ice cream on Sunday!) Plus, then it gives me a reason not to snack during the week. (You can't have ice cream its not Sunday!) Works for me....Guess what? Today is SUNDAY! YAY! -
Fellow lap-banders!! I need your HONEST opinion.

OH crap! I am going to have to revise my opinion. I am not in love with the reputation of 1-800-get-thin. They have issues. -

And dont forget to show half your boobs! -
Every single thing on my body seems different to me. I did not realize how shocking the changes would be. Here are some examples: I put a necklace on a month or so ago and it hung down at least 1.5" lower than it use to. So I went to my husband and made him look, he told me "Yeah that lump of fat on the back of your neck is gone." I had no idea that I even had one. Gross. I see my shoulders out of the corner of my eye and they surprise me how thin they are, my forearms have definition, I had to have my rings sized and 3 links taken out of my watch. My feet have shrunk from 8.5w to 8 medium (I need all new shoes). When I cross my legs, my calf of my top leg lays against the lower one, straight up and down instead of sticking out like a tree limb. I have the indentions beside my neck back (no idea what they are called) and the hollow at the base of my throat is back. I do have some flappyness (Is that a word?) in my upper arms but I am too lazy to lift weights enough to fix them and my boobs are gone (much to my husbands chagrin). My belly is somewhat saggy and wrinkly but still better looking than it was when it was filled with fat. My knees clink together when I am in bed and sometimes the bones hitting each other wakes me up and now I much prefer to sit in a cushioned chair instead of a wooden one because my butt bone gets sore. I rarely put on makeup now because I think I look fine just like I am. Plus I am probably going to work out at some point in the day and just sweat it off anyway. I pick up my clothes to put them on and my brain tells me, "Your butt wont fit in those small pants!" Then I put them on and they are too big. When I clothes shop it takes 2 or 3 trips to the racks to get a small enough size because I can't bring myself to pick a 6 or 8 on the first try. Isn't that just a horrible list of complaints? I don't know if I can suffer thorough it but I guess I will have to try!

Note to self-- Next time you are going to bribe a 15 year old to run with you, make them run first and then get the bribe.:cursing: I ran this morning, ran 2 miles and then walked the other 1.1. It was 79 degrees and 89 percent humidity. I may have to start running on the treadmill for a while till it cools off. I have to start my strength training, I have not been doing it. I'm not sure what the problem is I have a bowflex at work and plenty of extra time, I am just being lazy. I went a different way than normal and there was a sign for a local gym offering crossfit classes. You don't have to join the gym to go you can pay by the class or the month, I looked it up on the internet and it seemed cool but expensive. ( www.premiercrossfit.com if you are interested ) They have a free class on Saturdays and I might try and do one. I have been considering selling my motorcycle because I have not been riding it much so that would free up the money in my budget to take the classes. We'll see. Liftingchic-- A 10K :scared2:! I am hoping to do well in the 5K in November. Countrychic-- Hows it going? GG-- Hows the stomach? I hope your feeling better. Sassy-- Did you start walking? If so hows it going for you?

What in the world, happened! ??
LeighaMason replied to Anyajasmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can eat tortillas but if I drink something too soon after, it swells in my pouch and causes the slime. I bet if I drank something right before I ate it the same thing would happen. This happens with anything that is soft. Imagine putting something in a bowl of Water, if it would swell up, then do not drink with it. EX. Rice, bread, tortillas, etc. By the way, refried Beans were a life saver on the mushie diet. (With cheese!) -
Do you think I need another fill?
LeighaMason replied to Itsforlife's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You need to improve your eating techniques before you get another fill because it will cause you to throw up more than you are now and jeopardize your band (slippage). So if it were me, I would make a deal with myself, if I can learn better eating skills and go 2 weeks without throwing up I will get another fill, to help me with my hunger and restriction. Good luck. -
I am going to run in the morning, I have been so lazy, I'm not sure what my problem is. I will let you know tomorrow how I did. My son is running with me whether he likes it or not. Actually I bribed him, we were at the mall looking for him swimming trunks and I told him he could have a pretzel if he ran tomorrow and he went for it.
