"trips their attraction switches" "todays age of pressuring women to act like men" This might be the biggest bunch of BS I have ever heard, and I am a car salesman and I have heard a lot of BS in my time. FYI--You cant "attact women" because you act like an egotistical, chauvinistic, pseudo-intellectual and that is not attractive at any weight.

Tight when sick??
LeighaMason replied to MrsShannonDennis's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I bet! I get tighter when I am just stressed not even sick, so I can imagine what you are going through. Just be careful and eat as slow as you can. I hope you feel better soon. -
I am in love with the Thomas Bagel Thins, 110 calories each, I cut it in half and have half for breakfast (it has to be toasted or it gets stuck) with a fried egg for a 145 calorie breakfast that keeps me full until lunch and then in the afternoon I have the other half, with a tbsp of peanut butter spread on it for a 149 calorie snack. (This tastes like candy and makes you feel like you just had a treat!)

I have found that if I don't have a set schedule that I talk myself out of working out, as in, "Oh I will do it tomorrow" but if I have to work out the day after tomorrow then I have to do it today because I can't work out 2 days in a row. I would love for someone to be doing it with me so we could compare notes. Here is the link: Active Summer Beginner Cross-Training Plan | Beginner Fitness BTW: After you create an account and put the workout in your cart and go to checkout it asks for credit card info just leave that blank and submit and it will give you the workout. It will also start the day you get it but you can go to your daily log screen and move it to start a different day.

banded, banding, bands--verb--To assemble or unite in a group
LeighaMason replied to LeighaMason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good morning everyone! Christie-- Glad Steve is back to doing his job. Denise-- I can't decide whether its good to change the ticker or bad. Principal Shad-- Maybe we should share that name with your students. Donna-- Were glad your here. I am with you on the small goals. I get overwhelmed on long term stuff. Have you joined the Labor Day challenge thread? I have a new use for my french fry cutter. I used it on zucchini and squash and then sautéed it in olive oil for a few seconds (don't overcook) with mushrooms and onions. Its really good and band friendly for me. (That is Rob's plate not mine!) -

Labor Day Challenge
LeighaMason replied to LeighaMason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am still the same but I started a new cross training workout so maybe I will lose 1 this week. -
What do I call a super confident fat guy? My husband.
-
I am grateful that my husband didn't find me "gross" when I was overweight and even obese. He saw through the fat and appreciated the person that I am, and saw the weight struggle that I went through before I found the band. I hope I am able to do that for the people in my life and not judge them with my eyes.

I am going to blog my new cross training, that I started yesterday. Here is what I was suppose to do: Today you're going to do as many rounds as you can do for 30 minutes: 2 minute run/walk with a purpose 5 push ups 10 squats 10 sit ups So here is what I did: I walked to our local park, then did the 2 min run, 5 push ups (on my knees), 10 squats, 10 sit ups (really more like crunches since I was on the grass) X 10 so a grand total of: 20 min. running 50 push ups 100 squats 100 crunches Walked for 39 additional min. Covered 3.73 miles. Plus my husband went with me, we had a blast! But I forgot to wear my Body Bugg! Today, my thighs are killing me and I gained a pound, so I consider this a successful workout! When I really work my muscles they hold water for a day or two and then when that water leaves it usually takes a pound of fat with it. :frown: Here is what is on tap for tomorrow: As many rounds as you can do for 30 minutes: 4 minute run/walk with purpose 5 body rows 5 tuck jumps 5 plank holds for :15 seconds 10 squats BTW: Body rows are where you lay under a bar that is a few feet off the ground and pull your self up, like a laying down chin up. Tuck jumps, jump straight up and tuck in your legs. Plank hold is where you are laying face down on your forearms and your toes and hold your body up straight, no sagging. Wish me luck.

i think something is wrong with my band and i am really worried .. please help
LeighaMason replied to jasmine mino's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Besides that you are doing well with your weight loss, you will be 20 weeks on Monday, and have lost 39 pounds which is basically 2 pounds a week. That is on the good side for being banded, most Dr's say to lose 1-2 pounds a week is normal. So I guess you would shoot for a little less than a kg a week but even if you only lost half a kg a week you would still be in the normal range. There is no telling where your sweet spot will be, on my last fill I thought I had no restriction but 10 days later it kicked in and it has been perfect every since. You just have to take it a little at a time. Good luck, and keep up the good work, your doing well. -

I had concerns about my band leaking and I told my fill nurse (who is banded) that I wanted to take it out and check it. She told me she would, if I really wanted to, but it would cause swelling and probably make an unfill necessary so I didn't do it. That is what probably happened to you, its probably just temporary swelling. The port may flip back, if not I think its pretty easy to fix. Just a local anesthetic shot and a few stitches done at the Dr's office, not a surgery. I bet everything is fine, he is probably just double checking everything. -

Very sad at the moment...
LeighaMason replied to missgypsy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Stress is hard on my band too, try sticking with liquids, Soups and mushies if you can, you don't need a sliming/PB episode to go with everything else. Please accept my sympathy for the loss of your sister. -
I didn't lose hardly anything until I started getting fills then I started with the 2 pounds a week. Keep working and don't give up. Measure yourself. Even when you are not losing weight this can help you see reality. I took my measurements this morning. I have "only" lost 4 pounds since May 23 but that 4 pounds has taken an inch off my waist, an inch off my hips, and inch off my boobs:mad2: and an inch off each thigh (they no longer touch!). That is a huge improvement but if all I was looking at is the 4 pounds in 9 weeks I would feel bad. How are you doing with eating and exercising? I found that it was helpful for me, at the end of each week, to look at what I was doing and then I tweaked it for the next week to include or exclude something. This helped give me continual improvement, one change at a time so I wasn't overwhelmed by trying to change my whole life at once.

A prospective comparison of vertical banded gastro... [Obes Surg. 2006] - PubMed result This prospective long-term study, with nearly complete follow-up, suggests that in the non-superobese population, preoperative eating habits may play a role in choosing the most appropriate bariatric operation for each patient. Although RYGBP is associated with better mean weight loss outcomes, the percentage of patients who achieved and maintained > or = 50% EWL after VBG in this pre-selected patient population was not significantly different. Each type of operation has advantages and disadvantages, and, if properly chosen, a purely restrictive procedure can be successful for some patients. Therefore, it can be said that the decision regarding which bariatric procedure to perform in non-superobese patients must be based on in-depth preoperative evaluation as well as the patients' own preferences and outcome expectations.

I thought of something else that I had read and I wanted to add. On the governments web site about gastric banding, there is a section that talks about how banding success is highly dependent on the surgeons skills. If this particular surgeon is having so many difficulties, maybe that is a reflection of his placement abilities. (I will try and find the link and add it later)

"5. Doctors don't like self pay because first, it looks like the patient is trying to rush ahead of the insurance patients (this really irritated me because self-pay certainly isn't my choice and I'm not trying to rush anything), and secondly, that if something goes wrong, the patient could go bankrupt because insurance wouldn't pay for any corrections." Yep, thats what I did, spend $10K of my hard earned money so I wouldn't have to wait.:wink2: Remember, never ask a car salesman which car you should buy.

Saw the nutritionist yesterday and it was devastating...
LeighaMason replied to spoiltmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't like any flat "rule" of how much someone should weigh. I have a half sister who is the same height as me (5'5") but she has really little bones. My finger and thumb barely go around my wrist but they cross over hers and overlap about an inch. I am muscular and she is not. We have both been a size 10 at the same time, when I am a size 10 I weigh 150, she weighs 135 at size 10.
