  1. I had very little pain, I had surgery on Tuesday and went back to work on Thursday. I had surgery in Dallas at 8:30 am and started the ride home (a 2 hour drive) at 11:30. It wasn't really a big deal.
  2. Anne-- Glad to hear from you, sometimes when I am funky I don't post for a few days too. But feel free to join us when you feel like it. Now we only need to hear from Dottie. (When you feel like it) Karen -- If you are able to eat solids, stick with it and let the fill settle in. If you get to where you can only hold down liquids or are relying on sliders, time for an unfil. If you are getting at least 800 calories and 60 g of protein, I think you are OK.
  3. You do not have the right to control what your Mother does with her life. The only control you have is over yourself and your children. Your choice really boils down to this: Is the free childcare worth risking a dog bite for? If it is, take them over there, if its not, find somewhere else for your children to stay. I give this advice from experience, my Mother chooses to live in a situation that is not safe for my child, so he does not go over there. If she wants to see him she is welcome to come over to our house.

    Day 4 of 27

What a difference 2 days of rest makes! WOW. My last workout was Tuesday so I had 2 days to overcome the soreness and my workout seemed much easier today. My pulse stayed in the 160's instead of the 180's like it had been. Here is what I was suppose to do today: Today you're going to do as many rounds as you can do for 30 minutes: 15,12,10,7,5 reps of push ups and sit ups, with a 2 minute run/walk with a purpose between each round. I am not sure what this meant so I interpreted it to mean run 2 min, stop do 15 push ups & 15 sit ups, run 2 min., do 12 sit ups & 12 push ups run, etc.... rinse, repeat. So here is a recap of what I did: I rode my bike to the park .99 mi. 6.52 min Ran a total of 22 min. 1.76 mi. 98 push ups 98 sit ups Rode my bike home .99 mi. (Who the hell decided to buy the house on the top of the hill?) For a total of 50:47 min., 3.73 mi. Havent lost a pound! But my upper arms are getting definition. Now if something would happen to these pads of fat on the insides of my knees!
  5. Lovin-- Get out the camera today and take some before pics. You will be so happy you did, plus when you get down and feel like your not losing you can use them to compare and they will make you feel better. I think after you get to a good place with fills they usually last for a few months at least. I am self pay too, and mine are $200 each from here on out so I'm sure I wont be getting one for a while! Karen-- That was not meant to be a slap, more like a shake? I went to the bank yesterday and a girl that I have known for 15 years was transfered from the branch where I use to live 30 miles away to this one that I use now. So she hasn't seen me for a year or so, when I walked in she looked up at me and said in a perfect "your a stranger" voice, "Can I help you?" She had no idea who I was until I spoke to her. And its not she just knew me from the bank, she worked at my flower shop and babysat my son when he was little!

    Excited but nervous!

My husband thinks it is stupid as well. However, this is my body and my life and I will do what is best for me whether he like it or not. I mean for gods sake he stands in a boat for hours throwing a hook in the water to catch a fish and then throws the fish back! So once again, that is what he likes and he is entitled to do it, I don't have to like it just because he does.

What nutrition and food literature do you recommend?

I use the active.com website. It has lots of information about nutrition, sports, and all around fitness. It links to my facebook page and I get a small article a couple of times a day plus I got a free cross training 9 week plan that I am using from the activetraining.com part.
  10. Hey Anne! I hope your doing well. I was wondering if you had your surgery last week.

  11. I pretty much have a glass of wine every night, and I also have a frozen custard from Andy's every Sunday evening. Those are the only 2 deviations from my planned eating. I log my wine at 193 calories and the frozen custard is not a published number but it has to be at least 500 calories. So that is 1850 calories a week I could cut, but I am so stubborn that I don't want to. So I am going to do my 9 week cross training program and see if that gets me anywhere, if not I am going to have to decide if I am going to give this up long enough to lose the 8 or just accept 138 as good enough. Well see... I am not ready to raise the white flag yet!
  12. Karen-- Will you just accept that you are a 5 small meal person and be at peace with it? I think some of us are not built to be able to eat the 3 meals a day, I know that I cant. I eat a breakfast at 8, a snack at 10:30, lunch at 12, snack at 3, dinner at 6 and if I am going to run the next day another snack at 8. It has never hindered my progress. Now the wine is a different story....... Plus VS! WTG! I love VS! Denise-- I wish I didn't have to exercise, my new plan is so intense that I have been going to bed a 8 pm on the day I do it. But the good news is my husband has started doing it with me so we spend some time together outside of work. We have to be careful because its easy to fall into a "working relationship" where we only talk about work. Christie--"we'll have to go all gangsta cheerleader on you"--I am officially stealing this phrase. It makes me laugh... Stacie-- I have been taking the Prilosec and I feel so much better, I don't know what the difference is but maybe you could ask your Dr? Crystl-- Is your band back to normal now that you are at a normal altitude? AJ & Lovin --Welcome we are glad your here. My name is Leigha, I have been banded 9 mo and I have lost 57 pounds with 8 left to go. I don't want to quit drinking wine and so I whine and try and burn off those 8 pounds with exercise, well see how that goes. In real life I have a small car dealership that my husband Rob and I run together and then I have some rent houses, sell insurance on the side, and I am a "car buying consultant" so basically I do anything I can to keep from having to have a real job. UPDATE: My friend stopped by to visit today, he hasn't gotten his test results back but he sure did look better, and I could tell he felt better, too. I think they will be positive. Thanks everyone for your thoughts and prayers.

    Bragging Rights Time

Congratulations! (BTW, I think your Dr is sandbagging, you might as well claim the real goal.)
  14. I rate the pain right after surgery a 3 but by the next day it was a 1, I had surgery on Tuesday and went to work on Thursday.

    The truth about me...

Let me say from a parents prospective, all that matters is for you to do what makes you happy. If my son decides that he wants to be a backhoe operator because he loves it and is the best one he can be, that is wonderful to me. I don't care if he is a Dr., lawyer or ditch digger as long as he is happy. Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses. Because of your injury yours have changed. You will have to relearn what yours are but just because they are different that doesn't mean they are less valuable. I think you are in a growth stage and when its over you will really like who you grew into.

    Question about steak

I eat my steak rare and I have never had a problem with it. The longer you cook it the more of the fats are released and the dryer and tougher it will be.
  17. Approved is approved now get your butt on the pre-op diet! Congratulations again! Relax everything is going to be fine, just follow your Dr's instructions for the preop diet to a T. Good luck.

I need a link to the Labor Day Challenge

    http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0Ap1qXRkd4RRydEFfa2pPb19reVlTa25Qb1hlYUktcFE&hl=en&authkey=CLuLqfUE#gid=0 Here you go!
  19. The only time I can think of that I need to gain weight is when I go scuba diving. When I scuba dive I have to use these little weights that slip into my pockets to make me sink, a pound in each front pocket and 2 pounds in each back pocket. Plus the ones that slip into the ankle straps that keep my ankles from from floating up, I think they hold at least a 3 pounds each. I rent them at the scuba shop.
  20. It could be your eating skills, try this test. Cut up a 2 oz piece of white fish (that is not over cooked) into pencil eraser sized pieces, put one at a time in your mouth, put down your fork, chew to bits, swallow, wait 15 seconds after swallowing for your next bite. Add 1/2 a cup of sautéed squash and zucchini and 1/4 cup of mashed potatoes. Make sure you stop before you are full! If this works it might be the way you eat instead of what you eat. I can eat anything if I eat it like this. Oh and also, make sure when you try this you are not stressed. When people are rushing around I cant eat much.
  21. Husband reality check #2: Me: I am considering another fill, but since I have been doing so well and can eat almost anything I cant decide. Rob: You don't need a fill, your eating is fine, if you stopped drinking wine completely, you would lose those last pounds.:tt2: Boy do I hate it when they are so right.
  22. Hey girls! I finished my first week of the 9 week cross training program that I am doing. I am happy about that because that gives me 2 days without having to workout so I will hopefully have some soreness go away. I was riding to work with my husband this morning and I told him I was tempted to get another fill to help me with the 8 pounds, but since my band is semi-loose I can eat almost everything and I rarely get stuck I was undecided. He pointed out that band tightness wasn't my problem, that if I wanted to lose the last 8 I should stop drinking wine completely:cursing:. God I hate it when he is so right. Its not the band its me. So decision time, 138 with wine or 130 without? We will see. :tt2:

    Day 3 of 27

The only good thing I can say about today is that I am thrilled to have 2 days off before I have to do this again on Friday! Here is what I was suppose to do: As many rounds as you can do for 30 minutes: 6 minute run/walk with purpose 50 jump ropes 10 push ups 10 sit ups Here is what I did: Rode my bike to park (1.1 mile and 8.26 min) 2-6 min runs and 2-run/walks (2 min run, 2 min walk, 2 min run) for a total of 20 min running and 4 min walking for 1.82 miles. 200 jump ropes 50 push ups 50 "crunch" sit ups Rode bike home for another 1.1 mile I was not thinking properly last night and I didn't eat any carbs with my meal, so the result is zero energy this morning even though I got up early to eat a yogurt before I went. I did not have the energy for the runs. But even though I am having to modify these things I am still feeling the workouts are really going to give me improvements. I forgot to mention that I took my measurements Tuesday morning so that I would have a baseline to compare them to when I finished the program. I had not measured since May 25th and I had "only" lost 4 pounds but by losing that 4 pounds I had taken an inch off of each thigh, 3/4 inch off my hips and an inch from my waist. So that might be my favorite 4 pounds ever! See y'all Friday!
