Needing a slight UNFILL BAD!! But scared to gain weight back!!
LeighaMason replied to claire0823's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had a .2 cc unfill 2 weeks ago and I have not gained an ounce. I got to goal and had the unfill so I could stop losing and then I found I was eating less calories after the unfill because I was eating solid food and not hungry so I have added a cup of milk a day plus more starches to try and keep from losing. Before my unfill I would have a Protein shake for Breakfast and then a Greek yogurt at 10:30 which is 250 calories and I would be hungry again at noon. Now I have 1/2 a bagel thin, 1 fried egg and 1 piece of bacon which is 230 calories and I am not hungry until 1 or 1:30. Remember, an unfill is not permanent! You can always get it put back in if you start gaining. -
WTG! 37 min is great (even with your fall!)

I am behind on posting, Sunday was day 19, it had cooled off and was so much easier. I slept in and didn't start until 8:30. Here is what I was suppose to do: As many rounds as you can do for 30 minutes: 4 minute run/walk with a purpose 15 push ups 30 squats 25 sit ups Here is what I did: Rode my bike to the park 1:09 miles Ran a total of 16 min. 1.51 miles 60 push ups 120 squats 100 sit ups and rode my bike home I was able to run the 1.51 miles in 14 min which means I have gone from 12:30 min mile to 10:30 min/ mile. :tt2: On to tomorrow which will be day 20!

You can not live on Jello and coffee creamer! Your body will start burning lean muscle which in turn slows your metabolism and sets up a yo-yo effect. The less muscle you have, the less your body burns the less you can eat, etc... Please do not do this to your body. We get the band is so we can learn to eat normal. You need a healthy mix of Protein, carbs and fats every day for your body to function properly. You could have just .3 or .5 cc removed and regain the ability to eat nutritious food without feeling hungry.

Banded in May....Not losing well.....meal ideas?
LeighaMason replied to Madam Butterfly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you tried journaling your food to see a true calorie count of what you are eating? When I was first banded I was not losing and I told my husband "But I am doing everything right!" and he was like "um, no your not" so I started weighing and measuring everything and tracking it on a web site and then I found out that I was eating a lot of stuff I shouldn't. Here is a link to a blog that I wrote of what I eat, I hope it helps. What I eat... - LAP-BAND -
First glass of wine stories?
LeighaMason replied to BeachBabe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I will say wine will impede your weight loss more than just the calories it holds. I was still having my daily glass of wine during my weight loss stage and "fitting" in the calories. But when I got to the last 15 pounds I could not lose it while drinking wine. I stopped wine and replaced the 200 calories with food and lost the last little bit in about a month. Now I only drink wine on Friday night. (Which is also saving me a lot of money!) I was reading a nutrition text book recently and it stated that your body burns all the alcohol before it even considers starting to burn fat so if you consume 200 calories a day in alcohol you have to exercise an extra 30 min a day (estimated) at 80% of you heart capacity to reach the fat burning stage. -
Faith, I put mine on EBay a few days ago, have you tried Ebay or craigslist?

Do I Qualify? Planning to look for lapband in Singapore
LeighaMason replied to kuchink's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So explain to me exactly how I "cheated the system". My Dr weighed me at 195, I am a true 5' 5" and I paid $10,200 of my hard earned money for my band. -
banded, banding, bands--verb--To assemble or unite in a group
LeighaMason replied to LeighaMason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Betsy, I'm glad your back, I have been wondering about you. It sucks sometimes to find out someone is different than you thought. My husband says my biggest fault is that I expect other people to act like I do, and when they do things that I wouldn't do it really hurts me. Please don't worry about taking care of yourself, you are so smart, taking care of yourself financially will be no problem, just keep your eyes open, an opportunity will present itself shortly. People are always looking for someone who smart and capable to help them. You are always welcome here, LBT would really suck without you. -
totally bummed out.
LeighaMason replied to rachel0887's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think mourning the loss of your previous eating habits really helps. It means you are facing the fact that you are going to eat differently for the rest of your life. And since change is scary your not sure if you will be this unhappy the whole time. Don't worry, you wont. I love my new eating habits. Before, when I went to a restaurant, I had to look at the menu and pick out the things that I thought had enough food to satisfy me. Now I can order anything on the menu. I have so many more choices now. It will get better I promise! -

Do I Qualify? Planning to look for lapband in Singapore
LeighaMason replied to kuchink's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Technically you don't qualify for the band, but that doesn't mean you cant find a surgeon who will do it. The FDA says 40 BMI or 35 BMI with co-morbidities but I was banded at 32. That being said, I am going to caution you that since you only have 30 pounds or so to lose, when I got down to the last 15 I quit losing with diet alone and had to exercise the rest off. What I have seen on these boards is diet alone only gets you down to about a BMI of 25-27 and if you want to go lower you have to burn the fat off with very vigorous exercise. So the band would (probably) only help you about 15 pounds or so, so it might not be worth spending the money. -

I have decided to stop losing weight so here are my before and after pics. -
The heat wave finally broke here in East Texas, today it was a lovely 77 degrees with only 45% humidity when I went to work out. You would not believe the difference 10 degrees makes. Here is what I was suppose to do: Today you will be doing the following: 30 push ups 30 sit ups 30 squats 30 body rows Run/walk with purpose for 15 minutes Here is what I did: Got up late, sat around drinking coffee too long. Rode my bike to the park 1.59 miles 30 push ups (without stopping!) 30 sit ups (20 without stopping) 30 squats (20 without stopping) 30 body rows (5 at a time:mad:) 12 min run .98 miles (I had to get back home to get ready for work) Rode my bike home. Only 9 days left in my cross training I will finish just in time to do this: http://www.runthejailbreak.com/ its on my 41st birthday.

Jack your tape measure is a liar, there is no way that you have lost that much and not lost size somewhere. Can you see the difference in the pictures? Will you post some so we can see too? Are you measuring yourself or is someone doing it for you? BTW: Your doing fabulous! (And sorry I am in the men's room, I just can't help myself sometimes.)

On my last fill, I thought they had punched a hole in my band cause I felt less restriction, then 10 days later, BAM, sweet spot! It will get better, I promise, your through the worst part. ETA: Be very careful when you go back to foods, you haven't had any practice eating with restriction and cut everything into super small pieces and just eat one at a time, you also have to eat so slow it seems crazy and chew, chew, chew!

Don't give up! Look up btrieger, he lost right at 100 before surgery and has lost more since. He will be happy to forward a plan he put together to lose the weight. Send him a private message and see what he did. There is an answer, just keep looking.

When I read your post I got a visual of a person who was riding on your back, then you shrugged him off and he fell to the ground, then ran up behind you and jumped back on. Boy does that give me a visual image to my dieting past. I think the band helps keep that person from jumping back on. Good luck in your process and welcome to LBT.
