JulieRoddy, Brussels airport (code BRU) is by far the nearest. The one used by Ryanair (Charleroi) is about 60 mins away (ususal Ryn con). If you want help with logistics send me a PM (or ask here), I used to work near Brussels airport for a few years, so might be able to help. SharronT, Thanks for re-directing me over here. My name is Jon, my wife (Jane) is due to be banded on Friday Jan15 (so I see that makes 4 of you that day!) We live in the Midlands, so she is going by train to London and then the 12:57 Eurostar to BRU. No, I am not going, I have been tasked with looking after the dog (or the other way round). Jane is not too nervous, but is a bit concerned that she has not had piles of instructions/forms to fill in as happens over here. She is staying in Campanile Thursday and Saturday, which I think some of you are. I used to work in Zaventum, which is close to Vilvoorde, so I know the area. Jane wants to go for a pizza Thursday night in Zaventum (oh god...is that allowed??), so you girls could get up a party (Vilvoorde is a more 'industruial' area, not so good for eating). OOps, maybe should not be talking about food on this forum.....sorry. Sharon, Dont tell Jane....she wanted to come home on the Saturday as well, but was told she should stay till Sunday. You know that Charleroi is quite a way.....about 60 miles if I remember?

JerseyBean, We decided on Eurostar as it was quite a bit cheaper (partly I suppose 'cos we were only booking a few weeks ahead). Eurostar was £99 return, with the birmingham to London train £18 (one way - I am going to pick her up in London on the way back). I am not going - Jane would prefer me to mind the dog rather than get under her feet. SharonT, Jane is booked into the Campanile Thursday (14) and Saturday (16). BTW the only sensible way to get to the hotel from the airport is by taxi - even though the Brussels taxis are not cheap. I dont think that the Campanile has an airport shuttle. JerseyBean, My wife is now booked in for the 15th.....(she cant wait) We are also from the West Midlands. She is going via Eurostar to Brussels, then there is a quick train ride to Vilvoorde. The Campanile hotel is near the station. jon ps sorry, read through the thread now...see you are not going till Feb I used to work in that area (actually Zaventum, near the airport) so know that part of the world a bit, so might be able to help with questions (about the logistics, not the lapband)
