:wave: Hi everyone.My name is Kim.I just joined up here last night.I`m from Effingham Illinois,disabled,& on medicaid.I had a Surgeon but he had to stop accepting medicaid.I`ve got all my clearance testing done and am now looking for another surgeon.Any advise and referrals would be great.Is there a page on here where you can write your story,about yourself?:girl_hug:

Hi.I was just reading everyones posts & just had to comment.I too am a smoker.I`ve tried to quit so many times,only to last no longer than about a month.This & food are my only two vises.I`ve smoked 1 to 2 packs pr.day,depending on my stress level.The last time I tried to quit was Dec.2005 with the Nicoderm CQ patches when I was persuing WLS.They worked good for the 1st month.I made it thru April2006(cheating all the way).I`d get mad at myself every time I cheated.But it`s so hard when youv`e smoked over 24 years,& almost everyone around you smokes.What am I suppose to do?Become a hermit & not go around my family and friends ever again?What about when I`m stressed out(which I am most of the time)That`s when I crave most.I don`t like smoking.I don`t want to smoke.But I have to.A lot of people say,ahhhh,it`s all in your mind.Well,let them experience the withdrawl symptoms for a week and see how they feel.This last time trying to quit was the worst for me.I was so nervous all the time.Dizzy,Jumpy,shaky,& I felt like I was going to hyperventilate at times.I had feelings of being terrified because the withdrawls were sooo bad.I thought I was going to go crazy.I got down & depressed,cried,got really irritated at people so I thought I can`t do this anymore.It`s too hard.Plus I gained over 20 pounds.So I went back to smoking.I hate myself for it as I do for being so overweight.I`m having to find another surgeon because the one I had stopped accepting medicaid.& hardly anyone will take it anymore.I know I will have to quit again in order to have the surgery,& I will try again.I will never give up on trying to quit.Some day I will find something that helps me.But for now.I`m not giving them up untill I find a surgeon & he tells me I have to quit to get the surgery.I don`t understand why some people have to be so critical of others especially when they don`t know the other persons situation &/or circumstances.For those of you that have broken the habit,I aplaud you.For those of you that havn`t,don`t give up.Some day we will be able to quit.Take care everyone and good luck. Hi Lois.Wow.I really like what you have to say about Dr.Field.He sounds like a very good Dr.But unless the funds he raises also includes the trip there and back,there`s no way I could possibly get there.I`m so so much poverty right now I`m barely affording to feed my son month by month:( .I`m losing weight slowly on the pills but I`m feeling hungry again more and more lately.I`ve been averaging 8-10 pounds of loss a month but I can guarntee it won`t be that much this month.But if there was a way for me to get there I would definately go anywhere to get this done.I was at the hospital yesterdy,my brother and his girlfriend just had a baby.I was in the gift shop with my brother,sister and my dad,and we were talking to the lady at the register about the baby and she looked at me and said,well it looks like your`e going to have one soon too.I was absolutely mortified!!!I wanted to just die right there:faint: .

Hi LadyK.Sorry it took me so long to answere your post.I went to Dr.Shayani`s seminar in April this year.Saw him the next morning,he gave me the list of clearance tests I had to get done.I started getting them done right away.Then in June I started hearing rumors about him having to stop taking Il.medicaid .I finaaly got to talk to his staff and they definately are not taking medicaid any longer.They told me they would have to send me a paper to sign for them to release my medical records to me so I could find another Dr.I`m still not sure what the deal is but Loyola said something about not being certified and that they were in the process of getting their certification and that they didn`t know how long it would take to get their approval.I guess she was talking about medicaid.But this was in August.They still havn`t sent my medical records tho.I`m going to call today and see what the hold up is.I really liked Dr.Shayani and was very disapointed that I could no longer have him as my surgeon.

Hi Lois.I just read your thread.Congradulations and I wish you all the best on your weight loss journey.Where is NYU Medical Center? I`ve been trying to find someone to do this for me that will accept Illinois Public Aid with no luck.So In August I started the documented dieting thing most of these places want you to have.I went on Adepex from my pcp and since Then I`ve lost about 25 pounds.It`s very slow going.I just wander if anyone will work with me now that I`ve been losing weight on this.I gave up searching for a surgeon in August when I got so down and fed up.The one I had, had to stop taking Public Aid.I had all my clearance testing done and everything.I know I`m slowly losing weight on these pills but I still want the lap band done.I Have been losing about 8-10 pounds a month but there are times when I get hungry and get the munchies and it`s very hard to stay in control.Good luck,and I hope to be on the losing side one of these days. Thanks Joy.I`ve already gotten all my clearance testing done,so hopefully I will find another surgeon from all the referals I`ve gotten here and everything will move quickly.I`d love to be skinny healthy and energetic by Spring.I`ll check out that Dr.and hospital.Thanks again.

Thanks for the list Mandy.I`ve already checked on a lot of the names there.But maybe there are some I havn`t.I`ll check further.Hopefully I`ll find someone.

Hi Mandy.I`m not too good with milage and directions.LOL.But we are closest to Mattoon,Decatur,Vandalyia.I know I`ve checked a ton of places and Doctors in the Chicago area and they all said they were`nt accepting medicaid.But I`ll check out that link you gave me.Hopefully I will find someone.Thanks

Thanks Susan.I found where I can start a journal and I posted my 1st one today.I will definately look at the other forum.By the way.I found all the smilies I can use on here but where doyou get all the other cute stuff you all have?

Thanks.I just hope I find another surgeon before next year when my clearance tests become outdated.:cry I`ve checked tons of places and most did accept medicaid but don`t anymore.
