sunnyinaz replied to SParkle's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Hi Sparkle, so far this website looks great. I am three months post op and I have been sooo tired al the time. I really think I need to start rebuilding my muscles as all my labs are looking good but I am just so fatigued. Thanks again! -
What an ordeal.! In a few days you will start to feel better as the water weight comes off and the drugs do their thing. Just try to take it easy and relax, your feeling better is the priorty now, the rest will come. Take care! Trish

My date is June 15th. Arrggg....less then a week! Not doing super great on the pre-diet, I get so foggy and weak without my usual amount of carbs its hard to work. Lost 6 lbs so far in 5 days. I am going to really push the Water today so maybe that will help. Hey MP8btpc.....I have no idea how to edit the title. I still haven't figured out how to get the ticker! Don't worry about it, I didn't notice till I read your post. Everyone have a good day and to those who are very soon, best wishes and get back here asap to let us know how you are. -
SOS...Laryngopharyngeal Reflux...SOS
sunnyinaz replied to LAN2k's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Well I feel much better after my pre-op appointment with my surgeon yesterday. After telling him my concerns about possible problems down the line he did ask if I had considered the RNY. I said yes, for about 5 minutes, just because it comes with its own set of problems. He agreed and said "If you were my sister (thank-god he didn't say Mother) I would recommend the Sleeve. We talked about my sliding hiatal hernia and he will check it out and if it is large will fix it. He said that probably hasn't been helping the GERD and I may feel relief after that is fixed if needed. He also said there are many new treatments coming out for this diagnosis. I know that that practice does a new procedure for GERD but we really didn't get into the details. If I had problems later on I would more then likely go back to him or someone they recommend if I don't still live here. So I feel more hopeful, at least I know that may be an issue and can watch for it. I do have to go back for a yearly upper GI to keep an eye on things. Ha Ha, if I go back to my regular gastro Doc I can't wait for her to take a peak at my new "Tube Stomach". Anyway, I'm thinking of you and hope you can get a resolution soon. Trish -

I was diagnosed by my gastro Doc as having Barretts. It is a precursor to cancer. She was not supportive of this surgery at all and told me to just go to WW! Grrrr... I am taking 40mg of generic priolsec and it seems to do the trick. I will be giving up coffee and not eating much and losing weight so my surgeon said that will make a big difference. This is my biggest concern about the surgery so please keep us informed as you are not alone in this. I see my surgeon tomorrow and will ask a lot more questions. Take care. -
Hi ISH... I too have been thinking of going to a meeting or two. At one time, about 6 yrs ago I had a fantastic sponsor and tried my hardest to work the program. I really haven't figured out why it didn't work for me even though I spent 4 years going on a regular basis. I need to do some serious soul searching to try to figure that one out. I think I was just scared to open up all the way and really make the program my own. And then we get into "What are the reasons for hiding behind the fat" question and all that goes with that. I know I use food as a comfort due to some pretty tramatic things that happend in my childhood. And like TIFF at one time it was men, then booze and drugs, then after that the food which was more acceptable to society. So I stayed with the food all this time and ended up here. Just today I saw a segment on the "Today Show" featuring a young mother that lost over 200 lbs doing WW. I thought to myself.....maybe I should just do that. It is just a merry go round with out the merry! My thinking is so messed up I don't know what I want half the time. Soooo....after saying all that, yes I will be going to some meetings and trying to "work" a program.:thumbup1:

Hi, I got a surgery date of June 15. I am excited but nervous at the same time. I am so looking forward to being able to move around better. I attempted to do a simple Yoga routine this morning and couldn't believe how stiff I was. Mostly I just ended up doing the stretches, which actually felt good. I have a desk job so way too much time sitting on my behind which has caused me to have lower back pain. Grrrrrr, I really hate being so heavy because everything hurts! Good luck on your surgery, I hope all goes smoothly. Soon we will all be on the "other side"! :001_tt2:

I think I am actually going crazy
sunnyinaz replied to Lillie24's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lill, boy do I get that! I started the process last September for the Lap-band thinking that was what I wanted. I switched to the VSG in January after finding out that the Lap-band would not be the best for me due to reflux. So all my paperwork then went over to a different Dr's office. Well I thought it did anyway, seems I had to make several calls to get them to release and fax my records over to the new coordinator. I thought I was all set but found out I needed more information, so I got what was needed. Then after calling the insurance several times I finally hear back that they suspended my request for 30 days as my Psych Eval was dated 2006!! What the heck?....I guess I just assumed that the coordinator's job was to make sure that everything was in order before it was sent in. Like checking dates....? Soooo now I have to go back to my Psych Dr and have a official evaluation next week. She had sent in my original evaluation from when I first went to see her back in 2006. So by the time that gets written up, faxed to the coordinator, the Dr signs it off and gets faxed back to my case manager at my insurance I should be close to the 30 day mark. The funny thing is, I only have a couple of things to meet the criteria for a OK from the insurance, the Psych Eval being one of those, but I have had to do so much more for the surgeons office. I understand that, but the whole process has been so frustratingly slow. I work for a Blue Shield, (not who I am going through) so I know how things SHOULD flow and this has been a reason for my frustration. It seems everytime something more needs to be done its another two weeks. I also had time off work scheduled way ahead of time for the end of this month thinking that would give me plenty of time, but had to cancel it. Now I will have to take off time as "unscheduled" which isn't terrible but I have a perfect attendence record for the past 17 years. So blaa...blaa...bla. Sorry to run off at the mouth over this. Not too many people understand where I am coming from on this and I hope I have not offended anyone. Hopefully next week I can post that I have a date!! Hmmmm..... then I will be worried over the actual surgery itself! Yes I feel I am going crazy also! :svengo: -

Hey Jack, you are almost there! How exciting! I don't have a date yet but should be hearing back from my insurance any day now. Keep us posted on how you are doing. -
I just found this forum so I am new

Hi, this is my first post even though I have been reading this forum for weeks now. Congrats on getting a date! How exciting! I am still in limbo waiting for the OK from my insurance which should be any day now. Yep, all the Dr appointments are behind me also and I am so relieved! I also started out thinking I wanted the Lap-Band but found out that I have Barretts Esophegus and the Lap-Band would make my heartburn worse. I know that the By-pass is the best procedure for the heartburn issue but that is so extreme that I choose the sleeve. I look forward to hearing how the liquid diet is going for you. I suppose I will also have to do that but since I haven't had my pre-surgery visit I'm not sure what he will have me do. Keep us posted! -
I think it is going to be Dr Sarah Lee at NorthWest Hospital Oro Valley. Now I don't have my surgery date yet, but I am trying to be optomistic that it will happen and soon. It is just one of those things that you feel you won't believe until it actually happens. So, what about you? How is it going? So if you are 8 or 9 months out, how do you feel about the whole process now? Oh and I live in Tucson.
