What the heck--I'm in too! staciepfender@yahoo.com I also belong to a group on there -LapBand Divas-- all the ladies on there (it is a private group that has alot of privacy settings for those of you who have not told of your surgery). I myself--well everyone knows! I find it easier that way and if they don't like my decision--then I don't need them:tt2:. I am finding that lately I could use ALL the support I can get!!

Had my first fill today. I was told I am a very "hard stick" and that my port is deep. On the plus side of her having to dig and dig and dig--she told me that at least when I lose alot of weight my port wont protrude. I only got a little over 1cc because I was so nervous and then swollen after the digging that that ...was all I could tolerate at the time Now I am hungry and have to wait 4 weeks to get another. She intially put 2ccs in but took some out and I was scared to argue since she is very experienced at fills and if I needed an emergency unfill this weekend--she told me the fellows at the ER aren't very good. ARGGGGG I hope I have at least a little restriction. Total I am down now is 21lbs though.

I see you are from the 'burgh! I am from Butler. Wondering who are you having your surgery with? I had mine with Dr Ramanathan at Magee on Dec 16th. So far well....ok...waiting/needing that first fill on Friday!! Hope all goes well for you!

Feel like I don't even have the band
chickadee81 replied to dragonflylover's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have GAINED weight . My surgery was 12/16 and the Dr won't do a fill for 6 weeks (1/29) and I can eat pretty much whatever. Again like you it is in smaller portions, but not much smaller (unless I force myself to maintain portion control). I lost 19lbs with pre-op and my first week with the band--since then I have gained 2lbs. I am exercising as well. SO FRUSTRATING!!! Praying it gets better -
Same thing has been happening to me! Except it has been a month since surgery for me!! Put on about 2-3 lbs since then and so far it isn't going anywhere!! I hope everyone is right and once I get a fill at the end of the month the scale will move in the right direction!! (for both of us )

I am in the same boat! I had surgery 12/16 and have since gained a couple of pounds! It is very frustrating and I am counting down the days till 1st fill (1/29). I really hope it turns this around (even just a little). I know I really don't have much restriction (although there is some because I could eat alot more before), but I have been making good food choices and making sure I don't eat alot and exercising---but still nada! Praying it gets better for the both of us!! I really wanted to be under 200lbs for my vacation in May, but I don't know if I see it happening now:unsure:.

No restriction whatsoever!

I really need some help or reassurance or SOMETHING! I was banded on Dec 16th so it has been 3 weeks now. When I went for my 1 week post op check up, I had lost 19lbs from pre-op diet till then. I was so happy! I am following the diet and how much to eat like 98% of the time (I can eat alot more though). I am exercising as much as I physically can right now (just got a cast off my foot the day before surgery so I still need to take it easy and surgeons orders to stick to only walking no weights yet). I stepped on the scale today and I have GAINED 3 lbs!! I know my calorie intake is between 500-750 a day. I am so disheartened right now! I didn't go through all of this to GAIN weight! People tell me it's my body "adjusting". Is there really such a thing?? Will this get better?? I know I need a fill, but I am not eating alot right now to begin with. I imagine I will consume just about as much food, just won't be starving in between. So does that mean I will keep gaining?? Please someone just give me a glimmer of hope! -
Starving!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
chickadee81 replied to JustBreathe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
See if they will let you move on faster! I was hungry the night of my surgery lol. I was on all clear liquids for 1 week and saw the Dr at 1 week and told him I was STARVING. He told me to go onto full liquids for a couple of days and if I handled that well I could move on to purees. It was HEAVEN!! I know the feeling though. I was really depressed and had alot of "buyers remorse" for the first couple of weeks! If your dr does not let you move on--Egg Drop Soup really helped me too! -
I am a little confused and don't want to call the doctor for something so minor. I had one person tell me at the hospital that I could take off the Steri-strips in 2 weeks--and one person tell me to leave them alone they will fall off! Neither of these people was the sugeon--he told me nothing lol. What do you think I should do?? It's been 2 1/2 weeks and they are still pretty stuck on there. Should I take them off?? Won't they rip off the scabs??

Feeling some frustration...need encouragement.
chickadee81 replied to KY-Raptor's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am in the same boat you are in! Banded 12/16 and up 1 lb since surgery day! It all started when I went off liquids. I keep thinking--I can't live on liquids forever--i need to eat!! It is very frustrating and I too need some motivation to exercise at the moment. I joined a group on here that is commited to all its members walking at least 1 mile a day. Hopefully this helps and i see changes in me and it will motivate me to keep doing more and more! Trust me you are not alone in this!! -
Count me in please! I am not military or married to military, but I do need a serious kick in the butt!! Had my surgery on Dec 16th and have not lost ANYTHING! (except for my motivation somewhere ) Maybe this will be what I need to get me going--and once I see results it will be easier to stay motivated--plus I have accountibility from all of you !! It's winter with a ton of snow here in Western PA--and that always gives me the blues! So if anyone needs "adopted"--I can adopt them and I a ready with my treadmill for Monday!

My wife is scheduled for surgery...concerned
chickadee81 replied to rej1977's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My best advice would be to just BE THERE! I was totally depressed after surgery for about 2 weeks (I think because of the pre/post op diet restrictions) and wanted this thing OUT!! I wanted to be normal. My husband was great and listened and never judged or made me feel like maybe I did make a bad decision. Now that i am on soft foods, we have even gone to a restaurant to eat and I feel almost normal again! Also she will need you for things. He had to put on my socks/shoes for about a week. He even had to help me up from the toilet for the few days. When I had to sleep on the recliner, he slept in the living room with me. He is my rock. Be hers! -

What do you look like in your dreams?

I actually have the opposite problem (please don't hate me!). I was stick thin for most of my life. I WAS one of those people I know hate who could eat anything and not gain weight. So I always dream skinny. Hopefully someday it will be true again!! Maybe then I will dream of myself fat (man I hope not!). Of course i have been stuck at this weight for a while now and it is getting really frustrating!!!! -
LOL Kim--if you look I have the EXACT same post a few pages back! I was banded on 12/16 and lost 19lbs and have gained about 1 1/2 myself! It is very frustrating! Hopefully after we both get our first fills we won't be worrying so much! So sorry no advice because I am looking for some myself!!

Funny shaped tummy after banding?
chickadee81 replied to OrderIsChaos's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
PHEW! Glad to know I am not the only one! I keep looking at it thinking "man I really hope this goes away and my port won't always look like this!" -
Good Morning-Question for you experienced banders--I had surgery on 12/16/09 and as of 12/23/09 lost 19lbs!. I was doing so well they only had me on full liquids for 2 days then to purees (which i am on now). Since then I have gained 2 lbs! I am not overly concerned about the 2 lbs, but is this normal??? Will the weight gain stop? I am following how much they tell me to eat (even though I know I could eat more I am not!). Like I said 2lbs I am not gonna lose alot of sleep over, but I want it to stop! I am doing what I am supposed to be!

chickadee81 replied to rbailey60's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Of course on the upside of it....I've lost 19lbs from pre-op diet to today when I went for my follow up diet (2 weeks). I don't expect it to got THAT fast anymore though now that I can something with some substance! -

I too was on all clears for 1 week (just ended today WOOHOO!) and felt the SAME way! There are Isopur and other protein drinks that are CLEAR. I got them from GNC. They were kinda gross, but tolerable. There are also protein shots (not literally a needle shot) like a test tube. They are clear. I cooked veggies in my broth then took them out for more flavor. You can have Jell-o and popsicles or italian ices also. Towards the end of the week I was STARVING and had my husband stop and get a bunch of egg drop soup from a Chinese place and blended the soup in the blender (to pulverize the egg strands). It's much thicker than just broth and helped alot! -

Ok--I am starting to freak myself out!! Had band on Wed. now I am reading some of the boards about too much of a fill and PB'ing and I am thinking WHAT DID I DO TO MYSELF!!! I hate puking. I don't know if I ever want a fill now! I knew all of this coming into this, but it is just so REAL now. Is it really THAT bad??? Plus I am SO HUNGRY. I know for sure it is hunger because I am getting weak too. I am only allowed clear liquids until Wednesday. I HATE THIS!!:smile2: Any advice/encouragment ANYTHING would help!

Thanks everyone! It is all just so NEW and foreign to me. Trust me I knew what to expect I researched and read very thoroughly before deciding on this---but it's REAL now ya know!! I will feel so much better about all of this once I am allowed full liquids. I am going crazy on these clear liquids! So hungry! I had horrible nightmares last night that I kept eating because I forgot and then was in horrible pain lol. Darn food and pain meds!! I know deep down I will be A OK, but sometimes you just need to hear it from someone else!
