banded, banding, bands--verb--To assemble or unite in a group
chickadee81 replied to LeighaMason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I CAN EAT!!!!!! I guess I was just still irritated from the fill and the pills getting stuck (they are time release so no crushing or splitting them). It doesn't help that there were hormones involved too. Just like Christie i will be curious to see if next month I am tight as well cause that hasn't happened before Anne-Congrats on the 2 day advance lol. I was SOOOOO happy I spent the night. Everyone else-sorry to hear you are all having band problems . Hope it gets better soon! -
Mother's Day Challenge Anyone?
chickadee81 replied to MommyOf1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just moving the spreadsheet up! -
Question...I had a fill on Friday. Followed the dr's instructions and had liquids the rest of the day Fri. On Sat I was allowed to transition to mushies and soft foods. This all went great! In fact i felt like I could eat a ton (I didn't though). Today (Sunday) I am to go back to normal foods. I have meds I take 2x a day. This morning I took my pills and they briefly got stuck. I decided I was just gonna do a shake for breakfast. It went fine. Lunchtime-I decided to have some turkey deli meat wrapped around some string cheese. I ate like 3 bites and pain and fullness and hiccupping and burping . Dinnertime-I made lasagna. I mashed the crap out of mine, and ate no noodles and chewed like I never chewed before and got in 2 bites before the pain and hiccups and burps started. Why could I eat yesterday and not today? Am I just irritated from the stuck pills? Do i need a slight unfill or should I hold out a few days? Argggg this is so frustrating because I am STARVING!!

A question for any of you who have done the 5 day pouch test. My husband has been out of town and I have had a nasty cold and not really hungry nor can I taste much...so I figured what a perfect time to do the pouch test! I had been stuck/plateaued for a while. During liquids I lost weight FAST! Like 6lbs fast...now that I am finally incorporating some food back in (and good food too) I have noticed that I gained almost 4 of it back . Have any of you experiened this??

How long after surgery till your appetite returned?
chickadee81 replied to JustAskinThx's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Some people may not believe this...but my hunger returned about 5 hours after surgery! At first the dr. didn't believe me either. He kept saying it was head hunger and the growling in my belly was gas (and yes some of the growling was), but he finally did believe me before I left the hospital (I was there 2 days). I can honestly say my surgeon did an awesome job and I really did not even swell up like most people do. Needless to say, this made the post-op liquid stage hell. My surgeon finally let me advance a little faster because I was so miserable. I did clears for 1 week and full liquids for about 4 days, after that, Purees was like heaven on earth . -

Anne--YYYYYYAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY!!!! Then you'll be one of US (followed by evil maniacal laughter muuuhhhhaaahhhaaahhhaahhhaaa ). Congrats though seriously..it'll be here before you know it! HB-WTF! SNOW!!! YUCK YUCK YUCK  Leigha-sounds like a very resonable goal...Good Luck!! Bobbie-Have a great time on your trip! Relax and try to let the stress melt away!! I have done some scrapbooking before and it is fun, but yeah it's been years! It's rainy and kinda cold here in Western PA . At least if I have to work the weekend..it's not gorgeous out. -

Jeez--I go to work for 1 day and all these good things are happening on here!! Let's see where to start... Leigha-Glad to hear you have RESTRICTION again and hopefully no leak!! Karen-Happy Bandiversary and yay for the fill!! Sawyer and Shad-I am almost 4months now and yes at 3mo I noticed (and still notice) the thinning. My doc told me the same thing as yours Sawyer and said hair has something like a 3 month span. So this 3mo in thinning is from the surgery 3mo ago and it SHOULD start growing back in around 6mo. Christie- YAY!!! I'm not sure if I am there yet or not...but yes it is great to get rid of the MORBIDLY!!! I can't wait for just plain overweight lol. Betsy-Congrats on the 40lbs! That is AWESOME..I'm almost there myself. and yay no more plateau!! Me-well went to the PCP today...big long story..He gave me an inhaler for my exercise induced asthma (so no more excues for me). He prescribed Wellbutrin for the depression and axiety and also gave me a 1 mo script for Adavan since he said the Wellbutrin normally helps with the depression before it helps with the anxiety and to take that in the interim. I'm not too sure about that..but decided I'll try one on the weekend when I am not at work to see if I can function when I take it. I also got the results of my genetic tests. They are not great. i am + for 2 copies of the C677T mutation of the MTHFR gene. In short..I have a higher rish than normal of blood clots and other vascular diseases and hyperhomocysteinemia. He feels this may have caused my infertility/miscarriages as it can significantly raise the problems for Neural Tube Deficiency. Now I need to go to a hemotologist to see what he wants me to do. My PCP said he will prob recommend baby aspirin since I am young (28) and healthy for now..but I know the surgeon said he didn't want me on anything aspirin so we'll see. I also tested + for a gene linked to Hemochromatosis and my iron levels are abnormally high. I am supposed to also talk to the hemotologist about this, but the PCP said since I get my monthly visit from Aunt Flo that it will rid my body of the excess iron for now and won't have to worry about the hemochromatosis until I go through menopause. He wants to check my iron every 6 months now though to be safe. If it ever does get too high then the only cure is to go in and get blood drained every few months to keep it at normal levels so I don't get organ damage. (makes me feel like I'm being vampirized lol ) All of this was a little scary to take in, but at least I know it's there now and knowledge is power ya know! As for the cardiovascular problems (MTHFR) he said to also take folic acid and me losing the extra weight and eating better is the best thing! Sorry this is so long. HAPPY EARTH DAY! -
I am VERY open about my surgery...everyone knows. It makes socializing so much easier! All my friends now know the look of "uh-oh am I stuck??" lol. They also remind me hey slow down or you aren't chewing alot. They are all great! As for drinking..I still do it occasionally (I never drank alot to begin with). My recommendations based on experience though are if you are going to do it-#1 yes drinks are high calorie so eat good the rest of the day #2-yes I have noticed (prob as said above) that I can get drunk quicker prob because of less food in my stomach-#3-be careful because after you have had 1 or 2 sometimes you are a little tipsy and you think "who cares I'm gonna eat this even if i am not supposed to eat & drink at the same time". This can make you get stuck or if you do eat you forget your tiny bites or don't chew well enough. #4-have a drink (full drink not talking about a sip) then have a full glass of water...make sure you rotate throughout the night. I did not my first time and got dehydrated and kept waking up that night every few hours with horrible leg and foot and arm cramps . Hope this helps any of you!!

CONGRATS ANNE!! Glad you didn't have to threaten bodily harm from us hehehe! Shad-Hopefully someone can shed some light on that for both of us! I think I still need a little more, but not too much. Going on Friday so I will see what the surgeon says. My wonderful husband has shared his nasty cold with me . He was only home for the weekend before he had to leave again and I even made him sleep on the couch, but I still got it. -

Happy Sunday all. I am dreading going to work for like the next 3 weeks . New program starts tomorrow and coworker is on vacation the next week leaving me alone and then another new program the week after that! But on the bright side 4 weeks from now OBX here I come!! I won't be at my original goal of under 200lbs though . I still have about 15 to go for that. My husband was out of town all last week making it easier to go to the gym for hours on end though. Stinks he came back with a bad cold though so we really couldn't enjoy the weekend together. Now I better not get it! Denise-the frog is too cute! Glad you are feeling a little better too and got to have a nice outing with DH. Bobbie-I'm still thinking about you. Hopefully this week will be a better week and some awesome job opportunity will open up and it will be so much better than your last job. Jacki-that is awesome about the 5k's. I want that to be me someday...but gonna wait till I see my doc on Thursday before I start anything. Christie-I am sure that God is watching out for your brother. HB-Still laughing about the EX comment!! Dottie-Congrats on losing the 5lbs!! If I remember correctly we were banded on the same day. So yes I go see my doc on Thursday and can't wait to tell him that I am going crazy and give me drugs lol. I also took some genetic tests to see if I also have MTHFR and Hemochromatosis (sp?). My gram and an aunt and an uncle have both and my dad just tested + for both of the genes. I also go Friday to my surgeon. Hoping for a SMALL fill. I really don't think I could handle a whole 1cc this time. Who knows I could be wrong. Oh and Karen...you need to start sharing some of these crock pot recipes of yours!! and Leigha-congrats on so close to goal!! Betsy thinking of you always and Bob...well Bob is still lost on his farm . -

Hi All! I've been reading and lurking, but haven't posted in awhile :Dancing_wub:. Bobbie-Sorry that it did not pan out. I'm happy you are getting some assistance...even if it isn't enough I'm sure it helps a little. Anne-Congrats on the lb  It's better than +1!! Denise-Glad you are on the upswing!! Me-counting down the days till I see my PCP to talk to him about all my stress/anxiety/depression...1 WEEK!! Then another fill next Fri too . (I'm sorry Bobbie for even complaining about this but...)Just found out I am going to probably working 19 days straight with no days off . This REALLY stinks because at the moment work is where the majority of my stress and anxiety is coming from. Damn ALDI and their new computer systems and their slow learning weekend person that is making me have to work weekends grrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!! I think I need an intervention with my scale as well. Someone call A&E :Angel_anim:. I swear I step on the stupid thing like 5x's a day. That's not right. Oh well enough complaining from me. Spring has sprung and we should all be getting outside to enjoy it! -

Christie-Congrats on the breakthru!!! Goodbye 250's . I started at 248--now about 215 and can't wait until I say so long to the 2 FOREVER!!!! Denise-Hopefully they figure out what is going on soon and it is nothing too serious!! I'll be thinking about you. Glad to hear that the dr. & receptionist recognized all you hard work though! Also I am happy to hear I am not the only one with some port area pain...and yes I am sure it is that I ate too much. Like I said earlier I am having a hard time...just happy to hear it's normal though . I was on Wellbutrin for quite a few years back from about 14-21. It did seem to help and my PCP told me if I ever felt like I needed it again, that is what he would prob prescribe me cause it worked before, and there are even test trials going using it as a weight loss pill...so hell if it makes me feel better and a side effect is weight loss damn straight I'll take it!!! lol Bobbie-anxiously waiting to hear from you. HB-Congrats on the M scrubs!! Everyone else-Hiya!! It so far is a beautiful day here in Western PA (could be warmer it's like 60, but hey it flurried yesterday so I'll take it) and I am going to go try and enjoy it:thumbup:. -

Leigha-Congrats on the BMI Bobbie-YES...tell him we all said he BETTER hire you!! Betsy-Still thinking bout you and Mark...won't stop praying Thanks everyone for your kind words and encouragement, I still am not me...but feel a little better today. Maybe just cause it's Friday, but hey better is better. I keep getting these pains where I know my port is. I've been banded almost 4 months now and never had pains till like a week ago. Anyone else have this? They are not stabbing or excrutiating, just like a dull ache. Sometimes if I sit up really straight, it goes away. -

HB-That video is creepily beautiful lol! Is creepily a word?? Bobbie-Sorry to hear it didn't go quite as you had hoped. When a door shuts a window opens. Me-I really need to vent so sorry..apologizing in advance..and I am not looking for sympathy. I just keep asking myself can I DO THIS?? I have eaten crap, not exercised like I should and I just can't seem to get myself on track. There is no motivation and willpower at the moment and it is honestly breaking my heart. I hate that food is where I turn to. My feelings just make me want to run to ice cream. I used to smoke...that was my escape. Quit that for food. Gained lots and lots of weight (so who knows maybe I would've been healthier a smoker!). I don't deal with stress and anxiety well. There is alot of stress & anxiety in my life right now and I just can't deal with it...and now I am feeling like a failure on top of it :smile2:. I have an appt with my PCP, but soonest I could get in on an evening is the 22nd. I don't know if there is anything he can give me for anxiety/depression that doesn't have weight gain as a side effect. Also seeing him because it seems my exercise induced asthma is in full swing again (which is not helping with the whole weight loss thing). GRRRR....Isn't there just a skinny/happy/life is perfect pill?? -

Denise-Congrats on the NSV! Bobbie-How did today go??? Dottie-Sorry your doc was a turd! Bob-Welcome Back! FB is evil and very addicting and where you will find me most of the time...although I do not farm anymore...mostly Treasure Madness Me-I am always on Facebook--Stacie Kudlac Pfender..I am sure I am the one and only . I read somewhere on here (maybe this board) how you have alot of problems with finger foods. Call me crazy, but I am soooo much better with finger foods! I am a very visual person and I can take a teeny tiny bite if I don't look at it (aka the finger foods), but if I have to cut it up with a knife and fork it looks so lonely and I take too big of bites. When I am home, as caveman as it sounds, I don't cut my meat I pick it up with my hands and eat it if I can . I know I know---weirdo  -
Anyone banded December 11th ish??
chickadee81 replied to takoda76's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Banded 12/16/09 and have lost around 32lbs (including the 2 week pre-op). Right now I am STUCK STUCK STUCK though!!
