  1. I brought this up before and got ripped by someone on here who said it was because I wasn't eating right. Bugged the heck out of me cause I know I am and taking supplements also. Guess it doesn't happen to all. Both Docs, nutritionist and my hair salon lady all told me it happens due to the weight loss. Always lost lots of hair before the surgery too. Just don't wanna lose as much as pianoman for sure. Gonna try the stuff everyones talking about on here and we'll see if it helps, or maybe some Elmers glue???
  2. As LindaV said, you should check out the May Bandster Crew. They are great and very supportive. I'm so very happy I joined them. Come hang with the crew, you'll love them. Very knowledgeable, supportive, funny and just all around good people. Hope to see you there! Welcome and Congrats on your loss, your doing great!! :bandit

Marci, I have that same chip issue. Its such a struggle sometimes. I don't crave any sweets or pop or any other thing cept them dang chips. I totally understand. I can't wait to get home and see if I've made any progress at all this week. I made some good choices all week. Yippee. We'll see if I've gotten anywhere. Would be nice to move that ticker, even if its just a bit. I made a decision this week to let my travel partner (co-worker) in on my banding business. I've not told many people at work as we have an office busy body who seems to think everyone needs to know everyone else's business and I'm a pretty private person. Got burned by her once and won't do it again. Felt good to tell him as he kept wondering why I was eating so strangely... ??? I didn't think it was strange... band food? Whats wrong with it? :cry It was very different the last time we traveled together so it was quite obvious I guess. He was quite excited for me and stopped buggin' about eating so it worked out very well. Oh well, home tomorrow to spend time with the She G Kid and have some good old fun. I hope we all had 'loser' weeks and can move our tickers together! :clap2:

The dreaded protein shakes and bars

Thanks for all the info. The Ensure does need to be very chilled. My nutritionist advised me to try it after I had many others that caused problems or simply tasted like rust in a can. I have never tried any of the others mentioned but will give them a shot now. This is why I love this site, you get lots of ideas. Thanks again all!

Thanks to all for the advice. I'll remove the last of the carbs I've been eating... isn't much though... As far as the hair loss, I looked into another forum here and there are many who are losing tons of hair. I guess mine is not as bad as I thought it was, reading some of their stories. Maybe an increase in protein... :hungry: Marci: It's great hearing of the NEW FAMILY member Big Congrats to ya and I hope the GBabies (when they arrive) fill your life with as much love as mine have. I had sons and when my oldest married it was just great having another female around! Good Luck to them and I wish a long and happy life together! Janey: Third times a charm! You go girl! Myra: YAY! Thanks again for your support and advice! Hope all are well and good on this fine day! :bandit

The dreaded protein shakes and bars

I didn't llike any of the shakes, they were gritty tasting to me. I've used High Protein Ensure...Chocolate is the best, for me anyway. My family and friends have also tried them and like them also. Even the GKids like the chocolate. Give them a try and maybe they will help you. I agree though with the types of food your trying to eat. Ease off on that stuff and stay on the path to good health. I wish you good luck in this transitional phase. Hang in there! We're all here for you.
  10. Yep, me too. Started right after the banding. Strange feeling. At least I know now its happening to others! Thanks for the info!

Marz, I'm able to eat more like you I think. I don't worry about too much just stop when I feel full. Seems to last a very long time which is why I think I'm losing. I don't feel restriction whatsoever... unless I'm nuts and just don't notice? I only had one fill so far and doc says he won't do more unless I really feel I need it. I'm on an 18 month schedule and he and my other docs are very happy with my progress. I wish I was futher along but, I figure I'll let the band do its job and keep trying to get off my rear and move more. Slow like a turtle and I'm ok with it so far. Hair loss has started and I'm not happy with that at all. I do have gas issues sometimes so I think I must be eating too fast? Or maybe its the type of food? All I know is I'm fitting into clothes I have not been able to wear for sometime and I'm good with that! Looking forward, but not too far. Everyime I'm on here and read about the great successes I feel inspired and I thank all of you for that. Any advice on the hair and gas would be appreciated. Hope all are well and keep up the good work!

As you can see, your assistance has allowed me to add my ticker! Thanks! I am so impressed by all of you and your weight loss. You are all an inspiration for me and I feel this site will help me to stay motivated. I too travel a great deal for work. Some of the small towns around North America its difficult to find what I would normally eat at home. Seminole, can you give me advice on what type of foods are you eating while traveling? Hope all are well this fine day!

Where are all the Michigan people at??

Hello fellow Lapbanders and almost Lapbanders here in MI. I was happy to find you all. I'm in Harrison Township... little area right next to Lake St Clair. Doing well, no issues. Surgery at St John with Dr Boccacio. Great Doc, great support at the hospital. Had surgery on Friday, took a week off. Was a bit tired but thats it. Have had one fill of 1cc on 8/4 no issues with that either. In fact, it took them longer to get me set up than it did for him to do his thing. Feeling better all the time. Letting the band do its job. 42 down and looking forward to steady losses. Have noticed some hair loss issues lately but I can deal with it for now so I'm not going to worry about it. I wish you all good luck with your upcoming surgeries and continued success to all of us banded ones! :gluck: :cheer2: 256/215/.........150 Weight pre surgery 256 Surgery 5/5/06 1st fill 1cc 8/4/06 Currently 215 Goal 150
  15. The decision I made to have this surgery was all about me. Not anyone else. I wanted to be healthy to have fun with my Gkids and enjoy my life. I'd simply had enough of feeling bad. Please settle this within your self before having the surgery as doing this for anyone other than you will not help you to suceed. Hey girl, ITS ALL ABOUT YOU! Who cares what anyone else thinks.... even him. Be selfish, you deserve to be healthy in body and mind and I'm sure your husband feels the same way. Move on and be who you really want to be. I told the people who I knew would be happy and supportive and its worked. Heck with the rest of the naysayers or negative people. Its all about me now! Good Luck to you and don't forget...ITS ALL ABOUT YOU NOW:clap2:
  16. I'm so very happy for you! With your attitude I think you'll do well! Liquid diet was great for me, High Protien Ensure worked wonders on how I felt. Much less pain, helped in surgery and in recovery. The biggest thing was I lost 19 pounds just doing the liquids! I was on liquids for a month and then we started soft food. I can tell you I'm 42 pounds down from May 5 and I'm doing well. Your going to love it. Your doing this to feel better and get healthy again and thats all you need to keep in mind. I did not feel hungry nor starving at all. It was so good, I go back to it quite a bit just because it makes me feel so much better. Keep your head in the right place and get your skinny clothes out cause you'll be there sooner than you think! I would suggest not reading the bad news, keep positive... yes you can do it!! :clap2: Lapbandit1
