  1. Hi Corinne,

    Hope all is well.

I noticed that you were going to be banded by Dr. Mitch Roslin on your last blog entry. Just wanted to see how everything went. I got banded this past Thursday by Dr. Roslin and was wondering about Lenox Hill's post-op care. I have my first follow-up appointment w/ him next week.

    Best,

    Lauren

Hi, I just had my lapband surgery on Thursday, 12/17 and as of today I am already on thin purees per my doctor's advice and should be aiming for my 60 grams of protein a day. I wonder why each practice has such varying timelines when it comes to post-op guidelines. I've read that some folks are on liquids for up to 2 weeks post-op. Nonetheless, the thin puree thing really isn't working for me. I feel like I still have too much gas in my stomach to feel comfortable. It's hard for me to judge whether it's the gas that has me uncomfortable in my chest or perhaps it's too much liquid. Been trying to get my fluids in as scheduled, 1 oz every 15 minutes. I realize you really need to listen to your band but I feel like I am getting mixed signals. Any advice?
  3. Hi, I just had my surgery yesterday and just came home today. I am very soar but I have more trapped gas pain than anything else. I also feel bruised and it hurts like hell to get out of bed. However, all the surgeons have told me that the pain will subside over the next few days and that walking for as much as you can every hour or so is the best thing post-op. I did take half a tablet of hydrocodone but it made me even more queasy. So if you can ride it out a few more days without drugs it's probably best. Lauren

I just had my surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital in NYC yesterday and so far I am very soar but feeling good overall. I had a rough beginning yesterday. Though my surgery was scheduled for 11am, I wasn't taken in until 7PM!! I had to send my 88 year old grandmother home cause it was getting to late. She's a trouper though and has been by my side through it all. Once, I was in the hospital, regardless of the scheduling woes, for better or worse I was committed to seeing it through. Good luck to everyone on their upcoming procedures and i'm looking forward to learning so much more from everyone here. Lauren
