Has anyone postponed a fill due to losing too much weight??
kellykimba posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I postponed my fill today because I have lost 15lbs already this month. Since April 13th, I have lost a total of 68 lbs and I feel really good. I am not uncomfortable, nothing has ever gotten stuck, and I have never thrown up. I just do not want to push my luck. I still have little restriction, but I am HAPPY... Anyone else feel this way?? -
Has anyone postponed a fill due to losing too much weight??
kellykimba replied to kellykimba's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What I meant was I have little restriction, but i do not want to have too much restriction-when things have trouble getting or staying down...So far that has never happened to me, so I am afraid to tempt fate!! -
Two years on... and a few problems

As you lose weight, the fatty tissues disappear on you internal organs as well. Just a thought.... -

Has anyone checked this site out. My MIL sees a nutritionist who told her about this site. After joining the site, which is free, it lets you map out walking routes, tells you the distance in miles and when you plug in how long it takes you to complete, it tells you the calories burned. Very cool and an awesome tool!! http://runstoppable.com

Vision after surgery
kellykimba replied to Lrehburg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had slight blurred vision right after surgery also. It goes away pretty quickly. I could not read very tiny lettering, but I attributed it just to the surgery. It did go back to normal!! -
3 months post-op progress update
kellykimba replied to E'sMommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 3 months post op also(banded 4/13).I have yet to have a fill because of various reasons, but the last reason was because I am doing so well without it, why make myself uncomfortable? So I ask why make myself uncomfortable?? Just curious as to what I am missing,I have lost 52 lbs. I really do not want to lose weight any faster than that, but I do want to weigh less. I am scheduled for a fill on August 11th and do not know if I need it or not. I do know that I really never feel full, but I do have limitations. I have never had anything stuck, and I am not sure I want to go down that road if I don't have to. So I am taking it slow and one day at a time. I would do it all over in a heart beat and wish I had done it earlier!! -

kellykimba replied to babyk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What was the date of your surgery? April 13, 2010 How healthy did you/do you eat? I stay away from breads, pastas, cereal, and sugar(for the most part) How much do you exercise? Routinely 3-5 times per week How much have you lost? 52 pounds Are you happy with your results? Very-and I've yet to get a fill -
I have had a mild lumpish feeling in my throat on and off for the past 2 WEEKS/with also a lot of pressure in my sternum. I feel fine in the morning, but around 1:00 in afternoon the pressure comes. I am not restricted yet because dr would not give my first fill. I am getting tired of the discomfort. Dr office did not return my call so I am just living with it. First 5 weeks not a pain-then for last 2, I cannot pinpoint what is causing it. I have doubledosed on antacids with little-to- no relief. I just want to know that nothing is physically wrong. Luckily I have a great sleep with no discomfort. I have tried to do without milk, thinking maybe it was that, but it is not. Any other suggestions as what to do??.... Thanks!!

Believe it or not, my kids dip baby carrots into it, and of course celery.

I was practically pain free for 5 weeks post op,then last Tuesday I started feeling discomfort(I will not call it pain). It varies from day to day, hour to hour. Some days it is pain in my sternum, some days it feels like a stitch in my side, some days it feels like indigestion( I have no restriction!). Am I always going to feel like this?? I did talk to my dr, he said to double dose on Prilosec for the weekend. Did that and felt better, but today it did not seem to help!I am back to square one with pain on my left side radiating to my right. I have decided to go back to liquids for the next few days. Maybe something I ate at some point made me swell??I have no acid reflux that I know of and it is very difficult to burp... And tomorrow I will call the office!!

Take the anti-nausea medication they offer you in the hospital. Other than dry heaves from the anesthesia right after surgery, I have never thrown up!! -
April Bandsters - How are you doing?
kellykimba replied to BusyMom1961's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on April 13th. I have lost a total of 32 lbs and I am not sure what I want my goal weight to be!! I have not had a fill yet due to some minor setbacks, but I am chugging along on sole willpower. I have had some major discomfort(will not say pain)as of late, other than that all is well.... -
Ok, I have been feeling really great, looking forward to my first fill. The day before my fill, I started feeling like something had gotten stuck(I have little or no fluid in band) and was pretty painful but bearable. It felt just like if you swallowed real hard and 5 seconds later the pain would be gone except this pain did not go away for 2 days. I explained this to my dr. the next day and he would not give me a fill because he said I was eating to fast and maybe taking too big of bites( rescheduled me for 6 weeks later:().All day I felt slight discomfort, but it was bearable. Now yesterday I was feeling better for the most part except when I went to bed-I had bad pains between my breast bone and a lump in my throat.I do not have my gallbladder anymore, but boy are the feelings similar!! I do not know what to think this morning I am back to slight discomfort in my backbone and my ribcage is sore like I did situps or something. My husband thinks I am nuts!!(lol) I have been virtually pain free for most of my 5 weeks post op. I am going to call my dr. office when they open at 9, but I am so anxious!! I am trying not to worry about every little twitch, but I do not feel that my original pain was due to eating too fast.At the time I was in my dr office I did not think my pain would last 3 days and counting....I know my friends here would at least sympathize with me or commiserate(lol)Any input would be great!!!

Thank you, I called my dr and now i am just going to wait for his return call!

I was banded on April 13th and I am feeling quite well. I lost 25 lbs in my first 2 weeks which I know is a lot of fluid and such and am satisfied with the results. This is my question, the scale has not budged an ounce since then. I understand the healing process and the fact that the first 6 weeks is just for that, but I am eating such a small amount of food, and I am not cheating and I am exercising. My first fill is scheduled for the 19th. What is going to be the difference after that? I mean I am eating pretty much what I think I am going to be living on. Hope I am making sense and I am hoping someone can shed some light on this for me.

Not Sure What To Think
kellykimba replied to kellykimba's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Most of my adult dieting life my weight loss has plateaued around a 40 lb loss, I believe, due to the fact that I could not eat enough. I am finding it very difficult to eat enough right now because I am only 5 weeks post op. I am eating a protein shake for breakfast made with skim milk,lunch- I have been eating either tuna with light mayo, or some type of chicken salad. For dinner I have had meatballs, beef stew, scrambled eggs or chicken fixed a few different ways(about a 1/2 cup.)I have never pb'd or thrown up(knock on wood-lol).I have never got anything stuck...I believe my body is catching up to my 25 lb weight loss which I am sure at the beginning was just a lot of fluids and now is actually gone for good(that is what I keep telling myself, anyway(Lol)..I am not discouraged so much as wondering why I have not seen the scale move- I really do not care about the number, I just want to see it go down. I feel 100 percent better already and I can definitely feel a difference.
