Hi!! I am here because I am in the process of getting banded. At 41, I weigh 350 pounds and HATE IT! I have Crohns Disease, which gained me 120 pounds, thanks to 2 and a half years of high doses of prednisone, but I have always weighed in between 200-250 pounds since I was 23. I have done just about every diet out there with little to no success. Whatever success I did have, was short lived. I gave up for a long while because honestly, when you get so big, you tend to just not care anymore. I became aware of how 'big' I was when the doctors office could no longer weigh me. Talk about a shock! That was my wake-up call. While my gastro is aware of the problems that Crohns patients may encounter with having the banding done, we all agree that my weight is more of a threat to my life than the complications of the band. I used to ride bikes, hike, walk, play kickball with my kids and I am longing to do so again. I am hoping that not only will this change my life but I am also hoping that my changes will leak over to the rest of my family. My 6 year old son is 83 pounds, and together he and I are trying to change what we do with ourselves! He and I do some Richard Simmons DVD's, marching and dancing... and of course watching our calories. He is learning as quickly as I am, and I am hoping that he too, will benefit from all of this. I am positive in mind and believe that positive thinking is going to follow me through this process!!
