  1. 17 days out here.. and 18 lbs down....it's been hard as I am hungry but I have been watching portions (even though my doctor told me not to worry about that until I get a fill, I looked at him crazy) I am actually trying to "pretend" it's doing something but I know at least this has been willpower and the YMCA. I go in for my first fill in February. My doctor told me I would probably gain before the fill appointment and that is ok(but not with me) I hope I can continue. Good luck on your journey!
  2. well mine was two weeks ago Friday (1/8/10) but my doctor said that he would see me on my two week follow-up(which is tomorrow) I expect to go back Tuesday. I really feel that I could have gone back sooner as I have used 10 sick days(it would have been 12 but the snow days saved me 2). I'm a teacher but a high school EBD teacher. If one of my students were to go off, they could have easily hurt me because I was in no condition to use SCM holds. The school said that I could not come back until the doctor released me.(Insurance purposes for FMLA) He will tomorrow and I look forward to going back(even if its on my birthday) It did allow me to concentrate on eating patterns and walking the track at the Y. I hope to see a 20lbs weight loss tomorrow at the doctor's office if not a little more.
  3. I am looking forward to a salad too...my first follow-up is Monday and I am just throwing in a soft Protein a day like mashed Beans or a protein rich blended Soup like chili. I too weigh 246 right now, 14lbs down from January 8th surgery. Today's diet and pretty full..... Breakfast: 9:00 am EAS strawberry Protein shake Lunch: 2:30pm(late start) 1 cup of chili(beans and ground meat)...I still chewed and chewed. Dinner: 6:00ish Tiny coffee cup of leftover chili Chewing sugar-free gum works really well for me.
  4. I think I am in the same boat and they should move me up when I have my follow-up on Monday. I was banded on the 8th and starving but I am blending more thicker soups and have ate some soft protein(mushy beans). I have the same sensation arouhd port, wounds are all cleared and started my period within four days of the band. The Heparin shots(dr makes me use them for 2 weeks) made my blood flow like crazy and I was very crampy. Heating pad worked.
  5. -Nine days out... -Feeling pretty good... -Liquids suck but I am getting creative since I can have blended soups. Though a wee bit "food depressed" is what I am calling it. They had taco casserole tonight for dinner(crushed Doritos, taco meat, cheese, layered) I took some meat, cheese, salsa(to help blend) and whipped it in the blender. Tomato soup consistency, almost pure protein, taco flavored, suprisingly delicious. One bowl and finally stuffed.(I have only had a protein shake, Campbell's Soup at Hand and sugar free pudding) -13 lbs down(oh yeah) -Wounds healed though still tender sometimes(not covered at all with bandaqes because there are no openings or scabs) Port pain still sensitive but not unbearable. -Went to YMCA today and walked around track (miss the elliptical but don't want to overdo it) -Still gassy but liquids will do that and hey, we're family anyways:)
  6. getting sick is not part of it....something is wrong with either too much of a fill or wrong choices in food or too much...she should talk to her doctor and nutritionist.
  7. I am five days post op and feeling fine though just a little sore. I am miserably hungry even after drinking protein shakes, so I threw in a cup of measured soup like tomato to throw in a carb or few to satisfy it. But today after another protein shake for breakfast, I was famished by lunch and had one soft cooked egg that I chewed the heck out of and one measured cup of soup and feel full and better. Can starting this early on super soft protein cause a slippage if I am careful? I am supposed to be liquid only for 2 weeks untilm my follow up but have to throw a little something to maintain. I mean I have lost almost 10lbs since getting it in on Friday and my blood sugar is in the 70's(wow!)
  8. well this might be TMI but AF started yesterday and that might have contributed to my craving hunger. They are very irregular(PCOS) which was a major reason I did this to be fertile. Now I have no appetite today due to the bloating and cramps and feel like it is pushing extra on my tender incisions. Did you all feel the same if this happened during or near when you weren't feeling your optimum? But I like looking at the weight going off daily right now (12 lbs since Saturday)
  9. every surgeon is different..mine is 2 weeks then I have my follow up in 2 weeks from yesterday.
  10. I like Greek yogurt just need a little sweetner or jam mixed in(too tart)..and will be pureeing some more to get through this.
  11. will do that..we have a bag of pintos to make some beans and cornbread this week, I will take out a cup or 2 and puree and mix with some of the liquid..they would rather them whole then pureed anyways...sounds good. I also like black beans, white beans and bean and bacon soup, mmm.
  12. I guess since I can have any kind of soup as long as it is blended I need to find meaty ones or make meaty ones. I am ok now. I had about 2/3 of an EAS protein shake and one cup of tomato soup for dinner and feel full. Hopefully it lasts. The little bit of carb (like tomato soup) gets rid of my head hunger.

    Noodle Soups??

The only thing I would see wrong with it is it is pure starch/carbs and you need protein to stay full and lose weight and adding a potato to it, even worse. Carbs and portion control is what gets me fat in the first place.
  14. that's what I had today as well. A Protein shake for breakfast One measured cup of Progresso Tomato Basil and the one soft cooked egg. Several Crystal Lights and 2 sugar free pops.

    What do you eat?

maybe you need another fill if you are only at 4cc
  16. My surgeons two week post op instruction are liquids only...tomato soup is on it or any soup that I blend or strain and 2-3 protein supplements a day. So hopefully that one egg won't cause any issues and I will have nothing else but liquids until 01/25/10 when I go in for follow-up.
  17. thank you..I didn't think about pureeing some bean soup..that would stick better.
  18. awesome! congrats! I hope for the same on January 8. Some insurances don't pay for overnights. Mine didn't approve it because they feel it is an outpatient procedure.

    pre surgery diet

I have my pre-op on the 29th and I am so worried about the pre-op diet, I wonder if I should go ahead and start something similiar so that when they probably look at my liver its not that big? I recently had a scan of my adrenal glands because they were concerned about something else and the technician reported on the report they were normal but that I had a fatty liver.
  20. I noticed you live in Bullitt County. I teach there but live in Louisville. Are you going through University Surgical Associates? I have Dr. Rodriguez. I just found out I was approved today so I should hear from the office soon. I think its going to be the first week of January if they can get me into pre-op testing soon.
