Fatigued at 9 months out!
Jenschmitz replied to Janice1968's topic in Mini Gastric Bypass Surgery Forum
I've seen Dr Rutledge on his YouTube videos talk about Proferrin. It's a pain to get to me (Australia) think, so I just stick to normal iron supplements. I take them with juice too. Vit c and iron go hand in hand. You could have a rare steak and cut it into small pieces ... Hmm that'll be my most favourite way of iron! -
short term- exfoliate and then moisturize like crazy. long term- heaps of water and oily fish like twice three times a week. I have recently found I totally adore raw salmon cut into cubes. I eat it with chopsticks. I dip it into a soy and chilli sauce(just straight soy and straight chilli mixed) But be careful. its a little on the slider food side.. benefits is fantastic supple skin though. And I was abit skeptical about that at first too though.

dont forget to exfoliate and moisturise yourself. also, get properly fitted for bras now, and also when you notice your boobs arent fitting in your bra anymore. keep them hoiked up nice and high.sports bras are good for this.. bad bras can stretch the fibres underneath the skin =saggy boobs.

Even I think this is TMI but didn't know who else to ask
Jenschmitz replied to kirafiki's topic in The Gals' Room
ooh.. i know what you are talking about.. the pain.. i just shut it out( and yes i love spin too) i dont think i am 'huge' in that respect but bouncing up and down on the bike does hurt the girl bits a tad sometimes. extra padding on the seat is a great idea. ive done it sometimes - you have to make sure its sits tight on the seat. you dont want it rolling to one side. -
metamucil make pills for ppl on the go. just swallow with water. they arent big though. they dont get stuck or anything. you might need a couple in a sitting. i still take metamucil. i dont see how it expands. i mix it into the water and quickly down it. i dont mix up a lot of water (like a metric cup. more like 150ml or so) the longer the metamucil stands in the cup the thicker it gets. so, the runnier it is in my pouch the better. I also have a small water chaser to make sure it washes it down. I dont have any pains or bloated feelings or anything weird if i do it that way. HTH Jen

Ladies - What Size Clothes to Cross Your Legs?
Jenschmitz replied to JulieNYC's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I guess it depends on how bendy you are.. I mean, I could always do the splits. I could always bend my body any which way. I asked my PT about it he said its all about the protective sheath around the tips of muscles? But sure, I can do more now I've lost 20-30 odd kilo.. -
i know what you mean. you work so hard.. you work so hard.. you lose heaps and.. you are still way out of what is deemed "normal" or "slim". Shmoopy, why don't you treat yourself to a stylist for a couple of hours? someone to go thru your wardrobe or to help you buy clothes that fit your body now? I am assuming you say you are a size 10.. that is AUS/UK 14?? There are plenty of fashionable clothes out there to help lift your esteem a bit. I agree with the low self esteem part. To a point, it doesn't matter what size you are, if you have self confidence about yourself men do take notice. I've had heaps of guys sniffing around when I was bigger (i was AUS 22-24. I am now a solid AUS16) And no, I don't think they were chubby chasers, just blokes. If you are feeling yuck and down about yourself, it doesn't matter whether you are a skinny minny or not. Its like you are sending out signals 'stay away' and of course, they oblige. But, then, there are guys that like the generic super skinny types. Some men are shallow. A lot of society is very shallow. Be happy your body lets you do things! HTH lotsa love, Jen

ok, my experiences.. I have ALWAYS suffered from constipation. Even before lapband. I went and saw a person that does colonics. My my my. What a BIG difference it made to my life! My colon was given the ability to do what it is meant to do-move waste along. I needed to get the peristaltic motion going again. And yes. I was a metamucil junkie. All it did was block me up. The colonic was great. The guy that did it was a naturapath and very professional. It took about 45 minutes in total. Its like its helping restore the proper motion the muscles are meant to have. you sound all kinked and wound up. And totally out of kilter with all the stuff you are taking so you can go. I consider it akin to getting my dental check up now. I do it every 6 months or so. Keeps me bobbing along. Also, I found out I had Fructose Malabsorption. When I ate the fruits and vege that are good for that diet I had less number 2 problems and alot more settled tummy and hardly any wind too. Mind you, when I stuff up and eat fruit and vege which is high in fructose I get sore tummies and musical behinds!! Hope that Helps!!

Feeling hopeless and don't know what to do...
Jenschmitz replied to TN_girl21's topic in The Gals' Room
Get someone in. does your minister do counselling? very informal though. just you 3 on the lounge and lots of coffee. This guy doesnt know what he wants lovey.. and he is stringing you along intentionally or unintentionally. he needs to get to the point of the matter darling. in a way, sounds like he is biding his time to leave at the best time for him. if he isnt intimate with you and sleeping on the couch there is a big divide btn you now. this problem needs to be brought to the forefront now before it worsens.sounds like he wont do it either. and if he doesnt want to be involved. you need to be black and white with him. because men are black and white. show him your boundaries and see if he respects them. -
A VERY strange (possibly offensive) question. ***read at your own risk...***
Jenschmitz replied to Weas123's topic in The Gals' Room
it would make sense. its made by a mammal..its a mammals excretion so it would have a lot of protein in it as mammals are made of protein (and other stuff) its thick, goopy, proteiny (zinc-y too). Yes. pineapple juice probably would help it down. -
its very exciting to see the scales point down-not up!! congrats to you!! 5kg yay!!

So scared to get rid of fat clothes!
Jenschmitz replied to reneek's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
yeah, maybe, this is a subtle hint he will take you shopping for all your size 14 and less clothes? you could always say-"darling, I shan't pack them away, they are off to charity and we are off clothes shopping!" See what his reaction is then?? hee hee.. he might actually, you know.. go shopping with you.. -
That could be the case. see how you go with adding a little extra. are you hungry or not hungry with what you are eating? do you feel blah and tired with amount you are eating but not hungry? My surgery suggests about the same as yours-a little extra actually. about 1100-1200. I would eat healthy food though, to add to it. like a yummy kebab style thing-wholemeal pita, hummus, grilled chicken and chilli sauce.. yummm.. a whole pita is good for 2 meals anyway. 500 calories seems pretty low-even for lappy. Hop that helps!!!

Thats a weird one cos usually waist fat is first to go because its nearest to the organs. usually its the hips and thighs are the slow movers. hmmm. maybe you are losing from there but its not in the same speed or proportions as the rest of you. do you know what measurements your waist was when you first started? and compare it to now? maybe you will wake up one day and its smaller cos your body was ready to drop the waist size. Also, what is your body shape? if you are an apple shape it might take longer from your waist because that is where the weight is stored. I am a pear (ok-hourglass-ish pear but i wanna be an hourglass!!) and the weight/size has dropped off heaps on my face, ribcage, waist and top part of my hips. The arms and lower hips and thighs are pretty much the same. Smaller, but not heaps drastic. I hope you measured yourself before you started so you can get a good idea as to where you are. I hope that helps...

Would You Wear a Mini-skirt?
Jenschmitz replied to Jennie1976's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have one of those stupidly small waists plus big hips. as long as the mini doesnt ride and ride and ride up to my waist-yes yes yes! I like wearing shorts atm-not to the knees. mid thigh. then i dont have that riding up to the waist problem.its true when they say your shape is your shape fat or thin. Big or not so big, ive always had the small waist big hip combo. I like the minis that flick out and flutter a bit as i think they are more flattering on anyone than skin tight. -
Post-op: Very active job
Jenschmitz replied to Manda87's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do a moderately active job- up and down all the time with occasinally heavy lifting and hoiking. I had two weeks off. Believe me-you will want that time off. I bet you wouldn't realise how much you rely on your core muscles when you move/lift/walk. I am still a little sore in my middle after a month of surgery. You could probably go three weeks. You might go stir crazy bored but you have to be careful and mindful of your band and the stitching and you need to heal as much as possible befroe you put pressure on those areas again. Hope that helps. Jen -
it just means you arent used to it. i was exactly the same in the beginning. in a way its good because you are making yourself adapt fast and that usually means weightloss. after a while you will notice when you bend over and pick stuff up easier as well as getting up from a seated position cos your legs/thighs will be heaps stronger.
