I started this journey in July 2009 and I didn't even know it....I started gaining weight when I was 28. A doctor put me on phentermine. It worked like a charm until the 3 recommened months of use were up. I gained twice as much weight back. I was in graduate school at the time and all I did was eat, study and work. June came and a friend of mine told me about HCG shots. The only clinic I could find was in Waco so I had to drive there from Dallas to to get on the hCG program (which was 3 months at a time) and shots. After the blood work and my second visit, I had not lost any weight. At the end of the 2nd hCG month, I heard about the lap-band from a friend of mine. I went to a seminar and got started on the program. It was just dumb luck that I had already started the hCG program with only 1 month to go. Plus the admin office at the lap-band center told me that BCBS TX had cut down the requirements to 3 months instead of 6 months for a weight loss program. That meant that I only had 1 month to complete right? Yeah!!! Yeah right......I have BCBS TX UT Select, which DIDN'T change their requirements, they still required 6 months. That was in September. Now it's December and my last visit was the 2nd. I got the approval on December 11.
