Anyone being Banded 30th Jan 2010
Helen Eady replied to Helen Eady's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi A 10lb loss is great, my dietician called me today and he said that any weight loss between having it fitted and your 1st fill is a great bonus, due to that fact that your band is not restricting you at the moment while your body gets used to it. I admit I have to keep telling myself that it is restricting my food intake. What type of food are you pureeing? I am having lots of potatoes with cheese and baked Beans also fruit and yogurt pureed (it does not look good). Have you got a special occasion that you are aiming for with your June deadline of 60lbs. I see you had yours fitted just a couple of days before mine, I am glad to hear in a strange way that you are sore at your port site too, it makes me feel normal because mine hurts alot at the moment. I have had my 1st bad food day today, one biscuit lead to another and so on, I think the sugar kicked in with a great high then an hour later I was so low I had another, have you had any issues with this type of thing? Hi I am feeling betting in myself thanks, but I am just so sore at my port site and inside, I can't bend down anymore or stretch or lift anything heavy! I am back on the pain killers, I am sure it will be worth it. How are you doing? how much weight have you lost know? I have lost 16lbs upto last Saturday but for some reason I dare not weigh myself since I have started eating pureed food. I did not realise how revolting pureed food looks, even though it tastes the same. God I sound like a winge I should not really as I wanted to have this done. I am looking forward to my first fill in 5 weeks, when is yours. Where did you have you band fitted?. Helen -

Hi Paul Nice to hear from you, I am glad you have made the decision to go for it!! Well I am 8 days post op, the 1st week was very easy food wise but the rest was not good really. I was very very tired, no energy and completely no appetite (which is a first). I had really trouble sleeping in bed becaue I could not and still can not sleep on my side, and the problem with trapped wind is awfull, but all that aside I am still glad that I have had it done. Yesterday I started to eat purreed food, so I tried banana and strawberries with a muller light, then I purreed a can of heinz Soup, and for dinner I purreed potatoes then minced beef with onion and peas it was not too bad. Today all I have had is milk and tea, just can't be bothered to eat. So far I have lost 16lbs in just over 2 weeks, I am really pleased with this. Where are you having you op done? and with which company? or are you on the NHS? As you have probably gathered there is a local support group that meets in Louth on the 1st Sunday of the month which I did not manage to get to as I am still not driving, Louth is about 45 miles from me, hopefully next month I will get there. If you want to ask anything feel free. Look forward hearing from you. Helen -

Hello Clair I have had it done!! YEAH It is still painfull, and am struggling to sleep properly, is this normal (day 4 post op) I have only been having tea, milk, yogurts and oxo cubes, same as the pre op diet really. I am at the point were I don't know if I am hungary or not, I can't seem to be able to identify if what I am drinking is causing pain in the top of my tummy or what? Is the group on this Sunday? Hopefully I will be able to drive. Look forward to hearing from you. Helen -

:unsure:Hi How nice to hear from someone else who has just had it done. I had mine done at the Driotwich spa hospital, which I don't think is that far from where you have yours done. I am sorry that you had an infection in your canular site. I am now 3 days post op and feel like crap, I am really tired and extremely sore. I am really struggling to sleep well. When I had the op done I took over an hour longer to come round, but on the good side I was supposed to stay in overnight but they discharged me at 10.20pm on the same day. Are you suffering with any wind from the op or problems with you bladder?. I have found them both really uncomfortable. I have resorted to Peppermint tea, only started that a couple of hours ago, so here's hoping that it works. I lost 10lbs on the pre-op diet, but I am not sure what I weight at the moment, I tried stepping on the scales in the hospital and according to them I had put on weight, which I really don't get. Like you I am on only what I can drink thru a straw, I have only had muller light yogurts and oxo cubes and milk really for the last 2 weeks. I think I am a bit scared of normal food at the moment. Please keep in touch, good luck with your journey. Helen -
Hi, I am having my Lap-band done on the 30th Jan in England, would love the support of others to get thru this. I start my pre-op tomorrow and am dreading it. I am self funded, I have paid one price which included unlimited band fills and aftercare for what I believe to be life. I will have to weigh myself tomorrow !!! just not looking forward to that, that will be when it finally hits home that I am ging to do this. Has anybody had any problems telling other people about the op? I have told close friends and only my husband and sister, really don't know how to tell my parents. Helen PS how do you get a ticker tape?

PRE Op Diet Hard to follow
Helen Eady replied to LOLA121's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I have to start my pre-op diet this wednesday in prep for my op on the 30th Jan 10, I am really dredding the pre op as have been told I can only have 3 pints semi milk, 1 stock cube made in to a drink and 2 mullerlight yogurts, and as much tea and low cal drinks as I can get down. It sounds awfull. To top it all I am terrifed of having the op, don't really know what to expect when I come round from the op and how to deal with it at home. Helen x:confused: -
Hi my name is Helen, and I am 40 years old from England. I am due to have my op on the 30th Jan 2010 and am supposed to start the pre op diet of milk etc 20th Jan, the problem is that I don't really like milk and to be frank I am terrified of having the op and what to expect after. Any advise for the pre op diet would be fantastic. I guess I must have pre op nerves, I don't even know what I weigh yet, am waiting for wed morning for a measure of everything and a weigh in for the 1st time in months. Thanks Helen
