I made it fellow bandsters.
I arrived at the hospital at 5am, walked in and straight to the pre-sugical room, changed and then had to wait. The lady came to me regarding my co-pay and sighing that other scary papers. The did the IV, blood work, ekg and x-ray all while my hubby was napping. Was outside my OR at 7:15 am and watched them prep my room. Everyone was nice and supportive my doc was a little agitated b/c the other staff wasn't on time and ready to go.
Went into the OR about 7:30am, they gave me some "relax u" juice, put the mask on me and it was night night time. When I was coming too, I did feel the tube coming out of my throat, it didn't hurt just felt them remove it.
Went to recovery and was there 4ever!! I was in a good deal of pain and when my hubby came back all he saw was his wife w/tears streaming down my cheeks - that set him off a tad but by the time he had gotten there they had given me some pain meds 3 or 4 times and explained to him that they had to space it out in increments or I'd stop breathing. Finally got the pain under control.
Then they took me to x-ray again and I had to drink the dye and saw it on the monitor as it went down. I thought I was gonna gag on that stuff but by noon it tasted like a mimosa!!
From there to my room where I walked to the restroom and couldn't have anything to drink until about 4 or 5pm. Talk about thirsty. A few teaspoons of broth and I was full. Drank diet lemonade and Water after that point. Didn't sleep well at all that night, was up and down - to the bathroom and walked the halls and back to bed.
I was discharged early this morning w/a grocery bag of meds. My gas pain was pretty bad right after surgery but it was lots better soon after.
I'm home, stomach still bloated, still running to the bathroom to get the Fluid off, throat hurts, some discomfort and pain but not bad. I only have 4 incisions. 3 small and one w/the port. I was able to swallow my HBP pills and other medication w/no problem.
They also gave me a binder....anybody else get one? I have to wear it for 2 weeks, it just wraps around and velcro closure & it fits from under my breast to below my waist.
Now I'm just a little paranoid that I'm drinking too much and/or not getting enough protein; I'll get it together, it's only day 2.
Thanks for all the support bandsters!!!

I was banded on Thursday, and I definitely advise SIPPING not GULPING! Oh the pain when you gulp is BAD. But I'm getting there, now I just make sure everything I drink is out of a straw, that way I can only sipThanks Gwenn and congrats to you too!!!
Everyplace I've read and my doc said no straws, causes more gas.....I know our doc's give different info but u may want to double check on that b/f making it a habit.

Hey Melissa,I go in on the 24th as well! I am looking forward to it, if I can only keep myself of Youtube....I am seeing to many horror stories and that has me worried!
Oh Melissa!!! I know exactly what u mean, I had to shut that down months ago. I only look at positive videos....not that I'm putting my head in the sand regarding any negative aspects but i'd rather soak in the positive.
best of luck to u!!

Hi Annybear, my surgery is the same day, early in the morning. I pray you, me....we all come thru, heal and are successful with this journey. I look forward to hearing about your experience & keep in touch!!!

OMG....light bulb moment!!! I thought the main reason for being hot all the time was that I was peri-menopausal!! I knew some from weight but......wow.....
-
I've always dealt with Constipation and since my banding 2 1/2 years ago, I take a stool softener every day. The doc said it won't hurt me and it really helps. What softener did you find that works best, so I can add that to my pre-op shopping list?
For immediate relief, suppository or enema (fleet, can be found from Walmart, cvs, walgreens, grocery stores...basically anywhere execpt toys-r-us). I've used benefiber but it wasn't immediate for me but it did help so after using it everyday. You want to add the activa yogurt to you diet for long term.
Hope u get some relief soon.

Well damn! That was one of the things I was so looking forward too was having my legs back!! When I was thin (but didn't know I was thin-psych issue) I did not have any dips, dimples, cellulite just smooth toned long legs & a tad bit on my backside, but now..... I know it's super super vain but I pray I get them back.
Somebody give me some hope, did anybody not have it b/f and it went away after...plz plz (fingers crossed)?!?!?

I'm sorry, that does suck!! How long have u been doing the supervised diet? Have you considered another surgeon or called to ask if someone else has the same requirement? You will loose some on ur pre-op diet.....
-
Is this the person conducting your mandatory physician supervised diet?
Was this person selected or a part of ur surgeons team?

I need another option...all of the above. In order...
1. health is number one
2. I'd like to stop all the Rx's and doc visits. Walk the entire six flags, Water parks, universal studio....or whatever w/the family.
3. I also have a huge amount of clothes in a smaller size (including a pair of leather and suede pants) that I'd like to wear.
4. I have a reunion coming up as soon and I don't expect to be at my goal by then but damn close.
