Day 13 Post-op -- Turning Into Medusa
lewisfamilytexas replied to Kris's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm 12 Days post op, On liquids for 21 days, and its so freaken hard, i hate it, the first week went by like a breeze though, cause i was so miserable from having surgery didn't feel like eating at all and didn't have any kind of appetite, and then the second week there was like a day or two that i was a little hungry but the fact that i had horrid constipation that was the worst pain i've ever been in including the surgery pain, made me not want to eat anything, i just drank my liquids as best i could but even those were a bit hard to get down during the constipation faze it was awful....and now day 12, i woke up this morning and tried water, that irritated my stomach so i tried juice, that irritated my stomach, so i tried a zero calorie coolaide and that irritated my stomach, so i ended up having to cheat, because all the liquids felt awful being in me, it was like painful, like i needed something more substantial then liquid, they did not agree with me at all, its like my body was telling me it needed food......so i had an egg, mixed it with some milk before cooking so it was nice and soft and fluffy and chewed that thing like crazy and took a long long time to eat it, it was so freaken good though, even though it was sooo cold by the time i was done eating it, but i just needed something different, and that helped alot, i'm going to try not to cheat again if i can stand it but my stomach couldn't take the liquids only anymore, i just hope tomorrow will be a new day and my stomach will tolerate the liquids better....well good luck to everyone i've already lost 51 pounds Total includes pre op weight lost....so i'm a happy camper -
constipation post surgery
lewisfamilytexas replied to bugirl928's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery april 19, and the first couple days i didn't go, and then i went regular for 2 days, and now a week later i'm in hellllll...it's horrible, the pain is godawful, I scream when i try to go, i've had this big giant ball stuck up there for a few days now and every day just gets more painful, its to where just going pee it will try to come out but just cause severe pain, and we call the doc and they say its regular, just take miralax and duralax, or however you spell, i've done both, plus enema, plus this glyserine thingy, but it hasn't gotten rid of the plug, i was able to go around the plug this morning, but unfortionatley the painful plug is still there, and i'm hating it, this is way more pain then the surgery itself, I don't know what to do, its just so miserable, i just want it to come out of me already.... -
I was put on a 4 week pre op diet, and the first 2 weeks went by not to hard at all, but the second two weeks oh man they were awful, i got just so bored having to eat basically the same thing over and over again, I hate eating the same thing like that, and then also the list of foods i was allowed...i didn't really like most of the veggies so it was really hard.. My surgery is on tuesday, and i've lost more then the required weight that they wanted me to loose so hopefully my cheating i did (was on the weekends when i was out and about mostly, and one of the days having to waitt 7 hours at the airport cause my mom's flight got delayed....ugggg cheating with gross vending machine sandwhichs just sucked but me and my husband were so hungry) doesn't hurt to much since i still lost the weight....but I know i should have been good, i just wish i had only had to do the 2 weeks that would have been so much easier cause it went by so quickly and i did so well those first two weeks.... They put me on the slim fast diet for the 4 weeks, had to do 4 instead of 2 because of how high my bmi is....unfortionately i'm not that much of a chocolate fan...(I mean yea i like chocolate but not as 5 meals a day...thats just overboard) .so yea slimfast products are like almost all chocolate especially the bars....i'm suppose to have 5 slim fast products a day including bars and shakes, and then i can eat 1 small meal, of 5 oz of lean meat and 2 cups of veggies. I guess the slimfast diet is better then just a liquid diet...but it still sucked.....I just started getting so sick to my stomach eating those dang slim fast bars, some of them are ok, when your craving a candy bar, but other then that, its not a meal fix its a craving for a candy bar fix......i found one of the shakes at least that i liked the cappacino one, but only suppose to have 2 of the meal items a day the other three had to be the 100 calorie basically candy bars...with only 1 g of protein, i don't know what thats suppose to do.......and reading about the surgeries getting cancelled cause the dang liver didn't shrink enough, it just seems pointless i don't think i would be able to go through with it again if that happened.....i'd think it wasn't meant to be, and i'd be extremely pissed....I may have cheated some, but i stayed away from mostly everything i was suppose to stay away from, i traded some of the meals with similar calorie and higher protein items, and for the most part stayed within the 1200 calories, and i didn't touch a soda not once, and i lost 5 % of my weight like they required plus an extra couple of pounds......so regardless of my cheating i think i did good, so yea for all who cheated....damn it we need food to live, we're not alcoholics who don't need the damn alcohol to live, but we need the food to live so its really alot harder to give up i think we have it the hardest of any addiction, you can't just stop eating.....you need food to live....so be proud of yourself if for the most part you did good, or you think you did good, and other then that, well screw it.....i'm just kinda rambling right now...its 2 in the morning and i don't usually stay up this late so who knows if what i'm writing makes any since...but anyways just a ramblings of a girl who wants a baby and is getting her stomach cut out to hopefully get pregnant......so anyways good luck to all you pre ops out there, don't give up, try to stick with the damn awful pre op diets....and keep your heads up high, and be proud of yourself for doing your best and taking this next step into a healthy better happier longer life

Well I've been going through the process to get my lapband as of jan....but still waiting, because my insurance...blue cross blue shield, they need a 5 year weight history and because i'm missing the first year, i have to wait till jan to get my surgery, and thats not even to get my surgery thats to have the surgeon know ok its time to send in the paperwork its been 5 years of weight history....and then i don't know how long it takes for them to approve the surgery, but i hope its soon, i've already waited so long and been through so much, and now i also have a hernia that i'm going to have taken care of at the same time as my lapband, luckily the surgeon said he can do them at the same time, then i don't have to go in for 2 separate surgeries....uggg....I'm just getting really excited about getting started, but also irritated that my insurance is making me jump through all these hoops to get approved.....I've been over 200 pounds since i was in 5th grade, i'm currently 363, but yet cause i did not have that 1 year of weight history because it was when i did not have medical insurance i have to wait....its such a pain.....

well today makes it one week down for the 6 month diet....Been off sodas for 1 week, oh man and the cravings, but i never gave in.....I'd enjoy the occational glass of hot chocolate which helped my throat while i was sick, and the occational glass of fresh juiced juice, but no sodas, and no carbonated waters, my mother in law found this flavored water thats not carbonated fruit 2 O and its pretty good, we'll have to get some for our house.....My husband doesn't like the no sodas part....but i really want him to try to loose some weight too, we both really need to, he hates water though, he's been trading his high calorie sodas with high calorie non carbonated sodas....so still sodas, but he didn't think they counted cause they weren't carbonated, he didn't even go for the diet ones......like its not hard for me, man i love my soda, but it never really made me feel good, I'd get stomach aches from drinking it, but yet i still drank it....I'm proud of myself for not cheating and drinking soda this week, yay to me I'm slightly confused with my blue cross blue shield of texas....we were under the assumption that I needed five years of weight history, and a 6 month diet, along with the nutrionist, and psychologist, but the criteria they gave me at the seminar didn't mention the five year weight history and the 6 month diet said 3 monthes, and then i got really confused when i went in for my consult and the surgeon and dietician were saying 6 month diet and then the nurse came in saying 3 month diet, i really wish i had asked, but it didn't really occur to me till i got home and read over the paper work again....well my second appointment is in a couple weeks i'm sure i can ask about it...although even if it is now only 3 monthes, i'd still have to wait the 6 or at least 4-5 to be able to save up the $4200 we need to cover the surgeons fees.

I got to kill 3 birds with one stone, When i went to the seminar wednesday i also got to do my first visit with the surgeon and my first visit with the dietician to get started on my 6 month diet. She started me on some weight loss pills. The surgeon said it didn't matter if i lost any weight as long as i went to the dietician and got weighed and talked with her once a month, I'm still going to try to loose some weight before surgery because i'm sure that would be better for me and a good start. The surgeon told me I"m suppose to weigh 105 with my height, but gave me a more realistic goal, and said after surgery to aim for 225, which would be a loss of 60% of my excess weight over teh 105. I also found out that the insurance won't cover the entire thing, we have to pay 4200 out of pocket, for the surgeon and surgeion assistant, everything else is covered. But i'm sure by the 6 monthes we'll hopefully be able to save enough. I"m really excited to get started on this journey. And i'm glad my family all seems to be on board with me having the surgery, and everyone is very supportive, especially my hubby. My mom is the only one that seems a bit iffy about it and keeps asking questions...

Well my first lapband seminar is wednesday, and i decided to quit sodas before my first actual appointment because i know i'm going to have to go on a 6 month diet it'd be a good thing to stop sodas now and i won't be able to have them after the surgery, i've quit sodas before....the first few days are basically hell....withdrawals ugg..headaches..ugg...no fun, but lately i haven't really had many sodas anyways, i just gotta get used to drinking water again, haven't been drinking as much water as i should....my husband is going to be quiting sodas with me so i won't have to do it on my own, i'm sure he'll probably cheat while he's at work...but we will not have sodas in our home, and i also let my mother in law know that we'll be quiting sodas so she doesn't need to keep our favorites stocked up anymore, that instead if she could have bottled water for us that would be great....and she was glad i told her today cause she was running low on mine and my husbands favorites and she was going to buy more....so i told her just in time....we decided friday the new year is a good time to quit, but i've already started drinking more water....
