LAP-BAND? SURGERY 4 DAYS POST OP

You can see it, the first 30 days were the hardest, until the first fill. My savior is Diet Decaf Iced tea with lemon. I carry my lunch box everywhere I go. At first my friends and family asked 101 questions, now they are getting used to my new way of eating. I carry a protein bar with me at all times. My vitamins and my B-complex liquid. A can of albacore tuna and a tuna pouch and crackers. I learned to eat very slow and very small pieces and chew, chew, chew. sometimes i have to reheat things because I take so long. I can tell you this is the best thing I have ever done for myself. I have good days and bad days, but have never regreted a minute of it. One day at a time, M-

My tips are chew, chew, chew..slow down to eat, make sure you always have a protein bar with you. Diet decaf Iced tea with a little fresh lemon is my savior..and when stuck, try to walk around a bit. Always make sure you eat close to a bathroom...take care and God bless..M-

    Tomorrow is the Day!

Enid, yes, you hear it all once you are banded. I was banded 2/23 in Venezuela, my insurance denied 2 appeals. Anyway, I feel so blessed to have been able to do this for myself. Every patient is different, I am happy with my band. It is not by all means an easy fix, it still takes hard work. Excercise and eating right to make it work. I too suggest a lot of walking after the surgery and they are Gas X, strips that dissolve in your mouth. They were my savior. My only pain after surgery was from Gas and lots of it..hehe, God Bless and you will be fine and ready for your new beginning. M-

  17. hello, checking back in since i have been on vacation..my daughter's 15th party was a complete success. But I am glad to get back on my schedule. I don't know if it was because I was running around with my head cut-off, but I had a lot of trouble keeping things down. I believe I just ate too fast whenever I could sit down to eat. Thank the Lord I am now back to work and routine. I will post some new pictures once I upload them. God Bless, m-

    6.14.10 20 weeks post op 235# 50# lost

You look great..My doctor told me to use a body shaper and only to take it off at night. I even exercise in it. Walmart has a good one called Sweet nothings that does not have a bra and is confortable. always buy one size smaller. Just in case you are interested. M-

    5.10.2010 15 weeks post op 245#

You look great. sometimes you just have to focus on how you feel and the numbers just all of a sudden start to go down again. I still do weigh in every morning because it helps me focus on what i eat daily. It is still a day to day process. Have a great weekend, M-

  21. He is my cousins godfather, his name is Dr. Sanchez-Alva in Caracas Venezuela, he then referred me to a dr. in Tampa that has done my fills. Over all it is not the same as having your whole procedure and follow up with your dr. I think that having this website helped me with questions in between. But this was the only way I could get it done. Things are not good in Venezuela right now because of the government situation. You should always go with someone from there. Anyway, if you have any questions let me know..have a great weekend..

  22. Hey Mell,

I am Maritza..I had my surgery in February 23 in caracas Venezuela. I had tried to get my insurance to approve it and even with letters for medically necesary from my cardiologist, my endocrinologist and my general practition I was denied twice. So I finally went and had my operation in Venezuela, y was lucky enough that my aunt is from venezuela and my cousins godfather is a bariatric surgeon. The surgery here was anywhere from 18,000-23,000 and I had mine for 6000.00. I spent a total of around 7500.00 with stay, airfare and taxi..

What to eat at a cookout?

I had a hard time at first with solid foods. I found I could eat turkey burgers as long as they were not overcooked. I cut them up into small pieces and put a laughing cow light garlic cheese spread over the burger meat helps it go down. Remember to not skip a meal because you are going to the cookout. Plan ahead, because there will be tons of options that you will not be able to eat and if you do it will make you really sick. I take my lunch box with me everywhere. Now my friends and family are also adjusting to my new eating habits. Good luck.. Maritza

    2nd fill on friday

Rhonda, one good suggestion is to only take the stairs everywhere, no elevator. Also, one stroll around the whole deck after every meal..it is romantic and beautiful so you wont feel like you are exercising. And of course follow the Protein rule first. Enjoy, you will be fine. Have a great time.. Maritza
