I am 29 and turning 30 in 6 months. I have struggled with my weight since I was in high school. However, I am fairly tall and carry my weight extremely well. It is only within the last year to year and a half that I have started to actually look "fat" in my eyes. I am a current size 18 but it is a little snug. Things went down hill about 3 years ago. I was diagnosed with PTSD due to something in my past and attempted suicide twice. Those two years were the worst of my life. Well I am happy to say that I am much better now. However, the medications and depression had a lasting affect on me. One of my medications made me gain 60lbs in 5 months. My high weight was 262lbs. After I got off the medication I was successful at loosing about 30lbs. I have slowly gained back about 15lbs in a year which I know is good but it is getting worse. I was in a car accident in September 09 that caused my sciatic nerve to get pinched and through physical therapy and my doctor was told that it will not get any better than it is now until I loose some weight. I was on Phentermine for a while but it didn't help and my doctor asked if I had considered weight loss surgery. I had but how would I afford it. See......my insurance will not cover unless I have some other weight related issue. And I don't. I don't have high blood pressure, or diabetes, or high cholesterol. I am simply very over weight. So though I am not exactly fond of going out of country for surgery I have no other choice. I am spending everything I have for surgery in Mexico. The Lap Band is a tool....and I hope I can be successful with it.
