    Help!

My boss ran across this link when she was researching my surgery: www.litenfree.com They have the prices listed. If I remember correctly, nothing was above $8500. I saw on a different thread that someone that had been banded in Mexico was going to Dr. Carter in Arlington for their fills. It stuck in my head because he did my band. Best of luck...

    October 2006 Bandsters!

Thanks to all my band buddies for your input. I think you must be right and it's still surgery gas. I hope this stuff goes away soon. It has definitely been the worst part of this whole thing. I really do pretty well with pain and this thing almost had me in tears earlier. I wish I could just take my left shoulder off and leave it at home for a while. IT'S SO WORTH IT THOUGH! This time last week I had only had my band for about 4 hrs!!!Sometimes I can still hardly believe it's real. Many good wishes and prayers to those of you about to begin your journey, to those of us that just got started, and to the old pros around here. LET'S DO THIS!!!!!! :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

    October 2006 Bandsters!

Morning Bandits! I was banded on th 4th and for the most part have been doing pretty well. I had the initial post surgery gas pain, but the last 3 days my shoulders (especially my left one) have been KILLING me! I am at work and all I had was a cup of coffee and a protein drink this am. It seems like the shoulder pain is more associated with eating, though this could be my imagination. I am talking feel like I am having a heart attack left shoulder, about to go home and take a pain pill, about to tear up:cry kind of pain. (Not a wimp either, btw) Any ideas? Do we think this is still surgery gas???? :help: Thanks buddies!!!

    October 2006 Bandsters!

Jodi-T, thanks for the input. I remember my Dr mentioning that it was something they repaired if they ran across it. I just had NO idea I had one so I guess I'm surprised more than anything. Just don't want to do anything to mess up my pretty new band. Best of luck to you and your DH! Don't you guys be fighting over the heating pad. The nurse I had in pre-op is also banded with her husband. She said they could go out to dinner w/ her 14 yr old son and the 3 of them could order just 1 meal. LOL....Still hard to imagine at this point. I know you must be getting excited. Congrats, you're in countdown mode!!!

Steril strips...when can they come off?

Don't think I would do any pulling. They told me that the strips are glued on and take 10 - 14 days to come off. They told me I could tear my skin off if I tried to remove them before they are ready to come off on their own. As far as the edges go,I was told to trim them with clippers or small scissors. That is all of the VAST knowledge of steri strips that has been imparted upon me to this point. Best of luck...

    October 2006 Bandsters!

Oh Jess....I, too am so sorry to hear you got sick!!! I can't imagine having to throw up right after surgery. Bless your heart.:girl_hug: I hope you feel MUCH better very soon. I have a question October gang of mine (or anyone else that wants to chime in), I found out in recovery that I had a hiatal hernia that was repaired during my band procedure. The doc didn't mention it to my family and I finally called the office a couple of days later and they still didn't sound like it was a big deal. Does anyone know if I need to be doing anything differently due to the hernia? I am still pretty sore and am wondering if it is because of the extra work that went on. Thanks band buddies... Banded 04 Oct -- Back to work today (9th) Also down 10 lbs since 03 Oct

    October 2006 Bandsters!

It's me again gang! Congrats again to Crispygal and shellybeans. For those who were asking, a hospital stay was never an option for me so I can't really comment on that. I have done pretty well here at home. Had a few ouchies but it has mainly been my port that's causing the pain. If we didn't have a port this would be a breeze. Don't like coughing either!! My main complaint is still...NO SLEEP!!! Whatever this stuff is they gave me, it keeps me awake. I can NOT sit still. Shoot, if I had been taking this all my life, I may not have needed the surgery! LOL I have been walking the floor like you wouldn't believe. I finally called the Doc and they told me I could take a "sleep aid"! Are Quaaludes still around??? Just joking :heh:, bad girl! I will blame it on the sleep deprivation. threebeauties---I told EVERYONE I know. I even told people I didn't know! I told anyone who would listen, people at the check out counter, you name it---I told it. I am very excited as I am sure you are. I don't think there is a right or wrong amout of people to tell. We are all different and just have to do what feels right for us and our circumstances. Four of the people I work with came over today with a gift basket they put together for me. Since they know I can't eat the got me stuff like Cowboys T shirts , Oprah mag, puzzle books, etc. It was so cute. They are SO excited for me. Bless their hearts! So for me it has been a good thing to tell people. Well, as you can tell, I have the jabbers again. That's it, they gave me chat meds!!! Weeeee! Have a good evening my little bandit buddies. It is so wonderful to be a part of this group...Love you...

    Sunsett 1 yr later

That one got me girl! Not only your happy heart but the glimpse into the future that I needed to see so beautifully stated. Thank you... my band is only 10-11 hrs old. God always knows what we need to hear and I'm glad He had me "hear" you. Continued blessings and success to you!

    October 2006 Bandsters!

Hey gang! I'm not quite 10 hrs old. I know I had it done because I'm pretty sore but it is still so hard to believe it's real. :omg: Just wanted to say a quick hello and thank everyone on this board for the continual support you all show to the bandits (old and new). Gonna go try to figure out how to get comfy. I actually seem to do better standing, sitting or walking. I would really love a nap though ,:notagree slept maybe an hour last night and only about an hour this afternoon. I must say, it is quite strange to want this so badly then all of a sudden poof!- you got it!!! Got there at 6am this morning and by 10:15 am, I was on my way back home! I guess it will just take time for it to sink in. I do believe I am rambling...pain meds must be better than they appear. I could just keep on with nothing but my own senseless chatter. Have a great evening and good luck to the rest of you...:clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

    October 2006 Bandsters!

Good morning everyone! I had my lab work and my final consult with Dr. Carter yesterday. Everything is a go for Wed the 4th at the Specialty Surgey Center in Hurst! I can't believe it is this close. I guess that means I get to spend the wknd making sure the house is parent friendly. :-) They will be staying with me the first couple of days. How weird, nearly fifty years old and "Mommy and Daddy" will be taking care of me. Bless their hearts...84 yrs old and they are THRILLED I am doing this. I think they have been worried about my health with all the weight I've gained and the fact that they aren't getting any younger. It is great having the family support. Presurgery wt. 254.4, but I was fully dressed. lol Dr. Carter doesn't have you do the 2 wk prediet but I have been cutting back on my own and am going to start the protein this wknd just because I want to get used to it. Last but CERTAINLY not least...I have not had a cigarette in 9 days!!!! Happy Dance!!! Best of luck to the rest of the October Bandsters and everyone else on this journey. You will all be in my prayers. He knows who you are... :-)
  13. I knew I had seen it somewhere...Dr. Jorge Rincon at the San Antonio Weight Loss Center. They are "running" a $12,000 cash special. Here's the link: http://www.saweightlosscenter.com/contactform.htm From the website: Thank you for your interest in San Antonio Weight Loss Center. We are currently offering a special outpatient package (cash only) for the Lap Band Surgery at $12,000.00 in San Antonio Texas. This special offer includes surgeon, anesthesiologist, Lap Band and surgery center fees. Also includes Lap Band Fills, adjustments, and follow-up visits up to one year. Hope this helps...
  14. I found this on Dr. Smith's site when I was doing some research on Drs in the DFW area. http://fortworthlapband.com/weightlosssurgeryfinancing.html It has some good info. My surgeon also mentioned www.surgeryloans.com during his seminar. Don't personally know anything about either... Best of luck!
  15. I decided to quit lurking and say "HELLO!". I must say that I am partially in shock. I have been approved for my band! It all happened so fast, that is hasn't really sunk in yet. I got my approval in 1 week! My surgery is scheduled for Oct. 4th. I am as excited as can be then my brain goes OMG! Life will never be the same, not that that's bad, but it's kinda spooky. Dr. Richard Carter is doing my surgery. I have so many different things running through my head that I don't know where to start. Thank goodness I found this forum. Everyone seems so helpful. Thank you all for sharing your stories. For those of you who do....say a quick one for me. Thanks and continued success to you all...
