    December Delights 2009

i was banded on the 7th too! i have one bloody surgical strip as well - -the surgeon checked it out before my discharge and said its safe - actually safer than changing it and risking opening it up. think of it like a scab. glad to hear you're finally passing that gas -- who knew toots and burps could be so appreciated!

family support - what to do?

omg - i grew up in sunrise, fl... i remember desalvo's well. how do you go there and not cry over missing the garlic rolls? see, right now, i think i'm still mourning the loss of my old (bad) habits and cravings...
  3. Hi there - I'm newly banded and want to get an easy to use food journal... my doctor's office also says to get a nutritional guide... i think calorieking something? what do you use -- any suggestions for tools that will help me be successful?

    December Delights 2009

hi everyone! i am new to these forums, and was banded (realize) on 12/7... am home now and just getting a little more comfortable as the gas passes. i am excited to see this thread filled with folks in the same stage of things -- does anyone else feel like they have NO IDEA what's in store????? i felt well enough today to experiment with a few Protein shakes -- LOVED the syntha-8 strawberry milkshake... tasted like something you'd get at baskin robbins. It has 23g Protein but also 200 cals and 13 carbs (250 cals and nearly 20 carbs if you count the 4.5 oz of skim milk) which seems high, but again - it was amazing! i wonder if there's a way to compromise -- use half this powder with a lower cal/carb version? any recommendations? at lunch i tried one of the nature's best low carb Isopure - it smelled fowl and was very foamy! seriously - i've never lived "one meal at a time" like this before! it's intense! anyway - glad to join you december delights! now if only i can figure out how to add my ticker to my profile!

    Day 2 so much pain

sariel - you and i are bandster twins... i also got my band on 12/7 and am just finally starting to feel a little better. last night (first night home) i was in excruciating pain - my entire torso was throbbing... i guess it was the gas. i walked around the house as much as possible, took 1 chewable gas-x (though who knows if that did anything because the gas was not in my intestines), rocked in a rocking chair, used a heating pad on my back and then did considerable amounts of whining. I passed some gas last night (TMI - sorry) and feel a little better today. everyone (including the doctors) say keep moving - i know that's so hard when you just want to curl up and cry... but i do think that helped. see you around the boards!
