Eating without drinking
ElizabethNYC replied to Lady Lexie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wont lie, it's not the easiest thing in the world since most people are used to drinking and eating. In the beginning I slipped up quite a few times but didn't even realize it until I was in mid sip. When I'm setting the table I don't put a glass at my spot just so it helps, the tricky part is doing it at a restaurant..... -
Surgery 4-28, Camping 4-29
ElizabethNYC replied to icinderella's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with above posters. While some people feel great afterward this isn't a minor surgery, this is a MAJOR surgery and your body needs to heal. I do not think it's a good idea to go camping on your 2nd day. While I didn't have any huge pain I was very sore, very tired and it was hard for me to get up from a chair and or bed. -
New to Lap banding
ElizabethNYC replied to tazman60's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't have to drink protein till after surgery. On my liquid diet I was drinking medi fast. -
WHO IS HAVING A POSITIVE EXPERIENCE WITH THEIRS?
ElizabethNYC replied to Rosemarie K's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Today I have been banded 6 weeks and so far so good. Down almost 40 pounds from my heaviest and no stuck/too full issues yet. Hopefully will be going in for my first fill tomorrow and honestly would do it all over again in heart beat. Good luck with everything!! -
Broke my Pre-Op diet! Oh...my...
ElizabethNYC replied to SDTeaGirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The liver does shrink once you lose weight and the reason some doctors make you do the liquid diet is so there isn't that much fat around the liver when they are trying to move it out of the way to put the lap band on. I'll be honest I slipped up on my diet as well but I got right back on it that night. Good luck on Friday and try to stick to the diet as hard as it may be. -
what happens at the seminaer
ElizabethNYC replied to rosiebruno's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was going to answer but Navywif pretty much summed up what happened at my seminar. They also handed out the application to fill out and send in for starting the process. -

Please oh Please!
ElizabethNYC replied to whiterabbit's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Honestly it sounds like she was just rushed for time and just needs you to come back and complete everything. It's rare that a shrink doesn't charge you twice for two appointments! Good luck with everything, I'm sure it will be fine. -
I was told not to pick up anything over 30lbs so you might still be able to lift her within a week. For now maybe have your husband sit on your lap!?!? Hope it all goes well, good luck!

Surgery 4/27/11 OMG I'm nervous lol
ElizabethNYC replied to Jess_Zamora1310's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck with everything. You're going to do great. Just keep your chin up, positive thoughts and follow your doctor's instructions. Also make sure you get up and walk because it does help with the gas. -

ElizabethNYC replied to momof3armybrats's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Big congrats to you!!! -
I take Flintstones complete chewable and my calcium is just a Walgreen's name brand 600mg with vitamin D (I think). This is what was recommended to me by my surgeon.
-
Gas-x strips, your pain meds (I had mine filled a few days before surgery just so I would have them). A pill crusher or cutter, your protein and your chewable vitamins. Good luck!!!
-
Countdown...3 days!

PCP just approved me
ElizabethNYC replied to killerhighlights's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was pretty nervous my first consultation with my surgeon so make sure if you do have any questions to write them down before hand. I asked a lot about the complications and how many surgery's she's done and what kind of band she uses. I can't think of anything else I asked right now but if I remember I'll get back to you. -

OMG! gas pains bringing me to tears!
ElizabethNYC replied to duckgirl33's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sip warm tea, continue with the gas-x and make sure you get up and walk around. It should go away soon. Feel better! -
I'm about the same as the above poster. I'm almost 6 weeks out and still get it from time to time. It does goes away though.

Congrats!!!
