Dr. Heather Mcmullen - Anyone out there for Dr. McMullen
ElizabethNYC replied to ElizabethNYC's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I'm sorry to hear that you didn't have a great experience with Dr. McMullen. So far so good, I've noticed that she doesn't have the best bed side manner but I'm actually ok with that. :-) -
Hey all! Hope everyone had a great New Year (no hangovers I'm hoping). I'm on day 3 of not smoking and I'm not going to lie, I'm struggling just a bit. I decided to quit for my surgery that way I can be all around healthy. Anyone else quit the habit in the past or recently (cold turkey), if so any advice???? :blushing:

I'm pretty sure the iphone (or if you have an ipod touch) has a similar app. It doesn't have the scanner (unfortunately cause that sounds AWESOME!). Thanks for the heads up thou!!

I hope to be 26 when I get mine done *crosses fingers* -
Hey all! My name is Elizabeth, you can call me whatever nickname that comes to mind . I'm 26 years old and I'm from Staten Island, NY. I'm in the process right now of getting all my tests done (and there's a ton but worth it) before surgery. As it states in my profile I'm not really good at telling stuff about myself but I'm very open to answering questions. I look forward to getting to know everyone around here and I definitely can't wait to start posting about my progress in my weight loss journey! *I actually posted this originally in the main introductions but someone told me to head over here.

Thanks so much Cathy. I'm leaving work in 8 minutes and now have some fresh questions in my mind. I'll tell you how it goes when I get back!

Hey all. Today (5 PM) going for my surgical consult. Very excited to finally have a sit down with the surgeon. Also excited that I'm getting things rolling to get closer to my surgery date. Right now I have some questions that I want to ask her but if anyone could give me some questions that they asked or wished they asked, I don't want to forget anything and then have to call to ask again. Thanks all!!

Psychologist questions???
ElizabethNYC replied to oceansunset24's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my physch evaluation the other day and it was pretty simple. A lot of the questions were for her to determine (does she think I'm ready to handle the surgery, any signs of substance abuse, any eating disorders etc.) but she asked me how has my weight affected my lifestyle, have I always been overweight, have I tried to do any dieting in the past, what may have caused me to put on the weight stuff to that nature. It's simple..... -
New here, want to stop in and say HII!!
ElizabethNYC replied to ElizabethNYC's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks all! The only one I've done so far is my phsch evaluation and that already was a pain! I have my surgical consultant on Tuesday and then I still have to go to the nutritionist, for my sleep test, cardiologist, stomach sonogram, blood work and the vein doctor (can't remember what its called :scared2:). Hoping to have a surgery date in late April or early May. -
Is this the free seminar or the educational seminar? :-) either way I'm glad it's so close for you.:scared2:

Hi all, I know this thread hasn't been active in a while but I'm pretty new (ok really new signed up yesterday lol) and I have UHC. I just want to know if anyone elses benefits said the same thing and then something else came up that they need (6-month diet or the 5 year weight history). This is what my insurance broker sent to my HR manager, it's straight from the manual: 13. Obesity Surgery Surgical treatment for morbid obesity when provided under the direction of a Physician when medically necessary as determined by us. Surgical treatment of obesity when provided by or under the direction of a Physician when either of the following criteria is met: The Covered Person must have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of greater than 40. The Covered Person must have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of greater than 35 with complicating co-morbidities (such as sleep apnea or diabetes) directly related to, or exacerbated by, obesity. I just want to be prepared so that I can get anything I need together asap. I was told that after I had my nutritionist evaluation and surgical consultant that's when the insurance coordinator would submit everything for approval.
