    Trying to be patient

I've only found 2 that I like. My favorite is a powder (which I mix with milk) and it's Chocolate peanut butter by Body Fortress, it's available on walmart.com. The other one I sort of liked was the pre-made one from Costco (I can't remember the name). Hope that helps!!!

    March 2011 Bandsters

I was banded on the 15th too and just came back to work (I'm here now ugh). I'm pretty tired and could probably use one of my awesome afternoon naps lol. I've been on liquid diet for about 4 weeks now (2 weeks pre and 2 weeks post) and I finally get to move to mushy on Wednesday. I never thought I'd be so excited to eat somewhat regular food!! I hate eggs but I'm excited to have a scrambled egg with some cheese on top!!!
  3. I would just go because they are the hardest doctor's to get appt's with!! I had to pay out of pocket for my evaluation. I think it was about $200. Hope it goes well!!

    March 2011 Bandsters

Hey everyone!!! Glad to see everyone is doing pretty well. Congrats to those recently banded. I can't believe March in almost over and we'll all be official "March Bandsters". I'm going back to work tomorrow and not excited about it but I was kinda getting bored at home. So far I'm down 22 pounds (give or take). To those who will be banded this week congrats and good luck!!
  6. There is some pain but honestly I didn't feel it till the day after surgery. I guess the day of there's so much adrenaline and I was on morphine so I didn't feel much lol. The surgery went smooth and as of right now (9days out) I feel great besides some port incision soreness. You'll do great!!!! In my mind it was so worth it. If you need anything just let me know and I?ll try my best to help

    Too Young??

I know you've been banded already but I'm 27 and 9 days post op and honestly I don't feel like I was too young. I feel like maybe someone in their early teens or even mid teens might be too young but not at our age. Hope you're feeling good!!!

    6 days post-op band surgery

First off congrats on your weight loss!! It's an amazing feeling. I am 9 days post op and I've been hungry quite a few times. Honestly I think it's mental hunger though, we are fighting an addiction and it's not going to be easy but we can do it!!! Good luck on your journey.

    March 2011 Bandsters

Hey all!!! Hope everyone is doing well. Congrats to those who were banded today!! Yesterday I had my post op. Surgeon is very pleased with my healing, everything is normal and so far so good. I was supposed to go back to work today but she didn't want to clear me till Monday (I'm not complaining). From their notes I'm down 15 pounds since my pre op but on my scale it's a little more than that. I can't wait to get off this liquid diet, I'm ready for some mushy food (less than a week). That's it for now!
  11. I can sit here and name at least 10-15 stories of things going wrong from people who had bypass. You have to do the research and then make your choice, it's all about what you feel more comfortable doing. Good luck on your journey!
  12. Hope everything went well for you guys that had surgery today and yesterday! I was a nervous wreck the night before my surgery I only ended up sleeping 3 hours and now it's a week later and I'm still in disbelief that it's happened. I hope everything went well!!

    March 2011 Bandsters

Heyyy everyone!! Sorry I haven't been around much, I'm trying to catch up on the board now. I'm a week out of surgery and feeling great. I had one of my best friends engagdment party on SUnday night and I got tons of compliments which made me feel AWESOME. My post op is tomorrow and then back to work on Thursday (boooo!!). Right now I'm still on liquids and getting tired of it quickly but I fight through the cravings to eat whole food. I've been slacking on my Water intake and probably should pick up on that. So far I'm down about 18 pounds and it feels great!!! To everyone who is going to be banded good luck and to those who have been banded congrats!!! I love hearing how all my fellow March bandsters are doing.

    WHAT PROTIEN DO YOU LIKE?

I was really being picky with my protein shakes but thankfully I found one I liked. The best 2 are Pure Protein from Cosco chocolate and my absolute favorite so far is Body Fortress Whey Protein choclate peanut butter from Walmart. My surgeon wanted us to have at least 20G of protein and less than 8 grams of carbs so they both fit right into that for me.

    taking meds/after banding

Since I am only a week out I take my pills crushed. My pain pill I cut off real tiny and my vitamins are chewable. I take synthroid every morning and that's small enough that I can just swallow it. My surgeon told me after about a month I can take pills normally. It's not bad at all honestly.
  16. I probably wont be much help since I'm only a week banded but I just wanted to say that from what I've learned about it (research and all that) the band is what you make of it. Yes with bypass you would lose a lot quicker but I'm on with losing little by little (to my I feel like it's more healthy that way). Good luck with your journey!!!
  17. For me bypass wasn't an option I've heard way too many bad things about it so I felt more safe with lap band. What made my choice final was that lap band is reversible. I think in the end it has to be your choice. Do your research, talk to people on here especially the ones who have had it for a while and then make your choice. Good luck with everything.

    What happens next????

First thing I would do is call your insurance company and ask them all about it. I got a list from my surgeon of all the stuff I had to do. Maybe ask them if they have something like that?!?! Hope everything works out.
  19. Glad your surgery went well!!

  20. One week ago today....best day of my life

    What are the typical tests?

I had to do stress test, EKG, blood work, psych. eval, 6 month diet history, breathing testing, 2 sleep studies, 2 support groups, PCP clearance, endo clearance venous duplex anddd I think that's it lol. Every insurance company is different. I was frustrated that it took me about a year and a half to get everything done but it makes you stronger and I'm glad I had to do it all because I knew so much more that I was ready for the surgery when I finally got a date.

surgery day and day 2 post op

Sounds like your day went real well! Glad everything is good and good luck!!! I was great the first day but the 2nd and 3rd day got bad but then by day 4 I was doing well again. Good luck to those who haven't been banded!!
  23. My doctor gave us a list of Q&A's and one of them was when can you resume sexual activity and the answer was 4 weeks. The doctor said you'll find a way so that it doesn't hurt if you put to much pressure on the port.

    ***NEW*** A lot of questions

Like everyone has been saying here it really depends on your insurance and your doctor. From start to end it took me about a year and a half with a lot of hiccups but as of Tuesday I am banded and it was worth it!!
