    Sleep Study

This is how my sleepy study's went. First time I went they just supervised then when I went back I slept with the CPAP and they compared the 2 results. I wasn't scheduled for surgery until all my doctor visits were done including the sleep study so unfortunately can't help with your 2nd question.

    Considering the Lap Band

Hello! I am newly banded (2 weeks yesterday). First off congrats on getting started on the journey!!! I too decided to get banded because one day I want to have a baby, right now at the weight I was pre op (303 lbs standing at 5'8) it wasn't looking good. Since before my liquid diet I've lost about 30 pounds and I am already feeling better about life! For me it took about a year and a half to get everything done but that was because I had quite a few hiccups in my journey with insurance and other stuff. I also work from 10 to 6:30 at a company that frowns upon you taking off too much or leaving early so it was a little difficult to make doctor appointments. It was hard work and I can't say there weren't times when I didn't want to give up but if you asked me to re do it all again I would. Surgery day I was a bundle of nerves but before I knew I was waking up and walking around the halls. I wasn't in much pain the day of surgery but I did have some soreness and gas pains the next day (it was probably the worst day). Everyday after that the pain got less and less and as of right now all I have is some occasional shoulder pain and I'm still a little sore where my port is. Hope I helped some!

    March 2011 Bandsters

Hope everyone is doing well. As we speak I am chomping on a scrambled egg and boy does it taste good!! So glad to finally be off liquids. I can tell you right now I am struggling with not drinking while eating but it's another challenge I'll just have to get used to. I'm still having some trapped gas in my shoulder, is any one else!?!? I have not taken any gas-x strips in the past few days but I thought maybe that pain would go away. Hope it does soon, it's pretty annoying. I can't believe March is almost over and we'll all finally be banded. Anyone having surgery tomorrow GOOD LUCK!!!

Unfortunately I am not going to be much help but I think if the pain continues you should call your doctors office and see what they say. Hope it all goes well!!

    I got insurance approval yesterday!

I stopped smoking about 2 weeks before surgery but was never asked to take a test for it. I just decided that the band was more important that the cravings and it's worked so far!
  9. Congrats and remember who you are doing this for....YOU!!!!
  10. First off congrats! Make sure you do your research, that's what I did. For me it took about a year and a half from start to finish but I had many hiccups along the way. Be sure to check into your insurance and what they require if that's the way you're going. I am about 2 weeks out and can not drink 72oz's of water a day but I'm sure in time I will. I was out of work for 2 weeks but like the previous poster I could of gone back in a week. If you asked me to do this all over I would in a heartbeat. Hope I was of some help!
  11. Congrats and good luck to both of you!!!

    Getting cold feet

First off congrats and good luck with your surgery!! I had cold feet all the way up until they put me to sleep. I was so nervous about everything and anything, I barely slept the night before. Right now I am 2 weeks out and about 30 pounds down and I would do it 1200 times over if I had to. Of course in the end the choice is yours and only yours but just think about what you're doing this for. Good luck and keep us posted!

    March 2011 Bandsters

Wait, now I'm confused. I was never told not to sleep on my side. I've always been a side sleeper and I was able to sleep on my side about 4 days after my surgery. Now I'm a little nervous about it :-X Awinner, so sorry to hear you are having a hard time I hope it gets better and please keep us up to date!! Marcy I think sharing recipes eventually would be a good idea. We're all in this together!! I get to move on to mushy's tomorrow and I am so excited, just hope it all goes well. To all those getting banded tomorrow good luck!!!!

    Surgery 3/30/11 So nervous!

Wow that's real frustrating and I'm sorry you had to go through this! Good luck with everything and keep us posted.
  15. That is strange, I'm 99% sure I didn't have to sign anything like that when I got my machine. I wouldn't put it. If they really need it they can get it through your insurance company.

    GETTING DISCOURAGED

During my liquid diet I messed up big time and ate a big mac. Right after that I got right back on the train and rode it out to the end! I'm sure a lot of people slip up, it's normal but so worth it in the end.

    Banded 3/2/11

Congrats!!! I was banded 3/15 and just recently started to get hungry every once in a while but a protein drink usually helps the cravings.

    Surgery 3/30/11 So nervous!

I am about 2 weeks out (2 weeks tomorrow) and honestly most of my pain is gone. I still have some shoulder gas pain every once in a while and where my port is, is a little sore but other than that I'm doing well. The day of surgery I didn't have pain at all but that's probably because I was hooked up to morphine and all the adrenaline was set in. The next day was my worst day but I slept and walked around a lot and that helped. From that day on it got better and better. Best of luck to you!!!

    Anyone else practice?

I'll be honest, I didn't practice at all. Right now I am still on my liquid diet phase so the only thing I chew are my chewable vitamins lol. I am a little nervous about eating whole foods eventually but I'm hoping I can get through it!
