    The Spring Fever Challenge

Liz checking in at 271. Scale hasn't budged in over a week. Have my first fill on the 27th, hoping it helps.
  2. Don't be scared, it will all be worth it. Keep your head up and congrats on the approval!!!
  3. This is a little off topic but I get a statement from my insurance company each week or every other week but anyway they showed my surgery on there and it felt REALLY good to know that I didn't have to pay a bit of the $22,000 it cost :-X

    protein drinks.

My doctor was really specific she wanted low in cards high in protein. I searched the boards a lot because I was having a problem liking any protein drink and I tried A LOT! I finally have settled and actually LIKE Body Fortress Super advanced Whey Protein, and so far I've only tried Chocolate Peanut Butter. It's sold on walmart.com for $13 and it tastes REALLY good. Plus it's high in protein so I only have to drink one a day. Good luck on finding something! Look around though and buy some samples, this way you know what you like when you need it.

    Gastroenterologist

Before my surgery I had an EGD which does include sedation and I probably wouldn't of been able to drive home if you asked me too. It was real easy though, they put you to sleep do their thing and you're awake all within about half an hour. AFTER my surgery I had an upper GI where they make you drink the gross chalky stuff and they take pictures of the band. They do this within the first week of your surgery to check placement and make sure all is good. My surgeon said they will use this picture as my base for my Bandaversary to make sure it stays in place and all that.
  6. I absolutely LOVE this post. I'm 27 and was banded a few weeks ago. Thank you so much for sharing and congrats and the weight loss!!!

    MARCH 2011 BANDSTERS!

Heyyy everyone!!! It's been such a hectic week, is it Friday yet?!?! I am exhausted. Hope everyone is doing well. I'm doing good, still stuck at my weight, it hasn't changed it about a week. I was hoping to lose about 10 more pounds before I go away in early May. I go for my first fill on April 27th. I'm actually nervous about this because a little more than a week later I'm going to Disney and I REALLLY don't want to have my first stuck or sick moment there. Hoping that by a week later it won't be as tight! Anyway, I'm getting sick of mushy's but I'm nervous to start solids, one more week. Ok I'm rambling. Talk to you guys soon!
  8. Hope everything went forward today!!! Let us know.
  9. I take my synthroid everyday without a problem, it's a tiny pill. My vitamin and calcium pills are chewable and any other pill I have to take can be cut up as long as they aren't time release.

    Surgery scheduled - best advice

What did you take to the hospital for your overnight? Honestly, nothing really. I had to bring my CPAP which was mandatory. If you wear contacts you can't wear them in surgery but if a loved one can hold them for you you can put them in afterward. Toothpaste and toothbrush. I was told not to worry about any medicine because they'll have it all there for you BUT I guess you can bring yours if you feel more comfortable. I never changed into PJ's I just stayed in my hospital gown and the non slip socks they provide. What was the best thing when you got home? I had already gotten my Vitamins, Calcium pills and I already had my pain medicine filled. Also make sure you have your Protein shakes. sugar free popsicles were a nice change also, so I had those on hand. If you get sick of Water like I do I had my sugar free kool-aid to help me get my liquids in. What could you not do without those first days? The thing I could not live without after surgery, my gas x strips! They were a life saver. Hope this helped! Good luck with everything.

    Second guessing myself!!

It is 110% normal. My nurse practitioner told me this and it's stuck with me ever since "You're going to second guess yourself because this is an elective surgery and something that doesn't absolutely need to be done". And it's true I think that's why everyone has second thoughts or gets so nervous. You're all going to do great, good luck!!!

    Anesthesia (sp?)

My surgery was the third time I was put under and it's real easy. First time I was put under it was through the mask both other times it was IV. It's actually a weird feeling knowing that you were just awake and in what feels like two seconds you are waking up! You don't remember anything, no dreams or stuff like that. As far as quitting smoking this is how I did it. I just decided that I was going to do it, no excuses no more "I'm going to quit but just one more pack" none of that. I had a pack with 2 cigarettes left, I smoked them and then threw everything away that had to do with me smoking. The next day I got the phone call to start my liquid diet so I kind of lucked out, within a day my mind was off the cigarettes and now I had to worry about not eating (which by the way was harder than not smoking). I wish you the best of luck on both journeys!!!! Please keep us updated.
  13. I personally made the choice to tell pretty much everyone so I'm sorry I won't be able to help you as much as I'd like. I wish you the best of luck with your journey though.

  16. I can tell you now it is NOT going to be easy but it's worth the battle. Keep your head high and follow your doctor's instructions and you'll do fine. Good luck with everything.

    No Pre-Op Diet

All depends on your surgeon and I think if you have a fatty liver. Consider yourself lucky!!! :-)
  18. Sorry that you have to go through this! Hope everything gets figured out soon.
