mucus and coughing at night
sherir replied to lindalee1215's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This happens to me if I eat too late or prior to going to bed or while in bed watching TV... a bad habit I've had all my life. The mucous is actually secretions to prevent damage to your esophagus. Sometimes I sleep on two pillows till the feeling passes. Try avoiding eating anything prior to going to bed. -
I love my band and wouldn't want to have it removed. It has helped me lose the additional weight I wanted to lose. I have twenty pounds to go and can't wait to get there. I have to be more focused and drop some of the carbs I've been consuming to do it. I am at fault with my "tool" not the tool itself. I will do it. I will. My doctor's group is fantastic and supportive. I've never been made to feel as if I've failed... ever.

Cynthia, Don't be scared or even worried This site and other support sites just keep us informed of what could be. Count your blessings. I went almost a year without any difficulties or vomiting. I could eat anything as long as I ate it slowly. My fill in September is what caused a problem for me. I talked with my PA and she said let's take a little out. Since then... no problem. It is good to keep up with the sites for lapband. It keeps you informed and opens your eyes your own situaltion. I had a zillion questions and fears after my surgery. Now I know I'm okay. Good luck to you. I am very pleased I had my surgery.

Thank you so much for your comment regarding the size of meals. I did feel like a failure because I can eat a regular meal, albeit, smaller in size. I kept hearing and reading about people eating only a bite or two and then are full. I thought there was something wrong with me. Now I know I'm fine. I eat almost everything without difficulty. I did have to have an unfill once but I'm doing fine now. I must admit that at times certain foods like leftover chicken and some pastas can be a problem... but for the most part everything goes down okay. I am glad to know that others out there can eat a "real meal" just smaller in size.... maybe what a "thin" person eats!

I believe each point is worth approximately 50 calories, therefore, 28 points is 1400 calories per day. Good luck. I should follow my own advice. I'm struggling right now but not gaining back. Well, 1 up, 1 down... but holding.

You would weigh your protein on a postal type scale. It will read 2 ounces for you. I've used the one purchased at Weight Watchers and it is very effective.

My suggestion would be to go to www.weightwatchers.com and join as an at home member. Here you will learn the program and take from it what you can use in yours. I have found that using their cookbooks is very useful in preparing meals at home. Topics might include portion sizes, dining out, feeling good about oneself etc. If you do go on line you will become very familiar with the program. I used to count points as it gave me guidelines to follow and restriction on portion sizes. Good luck. I'm surprised that there is no WW near you as they are world wide.

I have been attending WW for 8 years. I have maintained a 70 weight loss by going weekly. Since the band on 7/19/06, I have lost an additional 24 pounds bringing my total to 94 pounds. I cannot wait to get to 100. My leader knows but I have not shared with the group. I haven't counted points as I am more concerned with getting in my protein at this point. I will stay with WW in addition to attending some of the meetings sponsered by my doctors' group.
