8 wks post op today & so discouraged
mjchristy replied to keeepitreal24's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I so understand what you are going through. I will be 8 wks postop tomorrow, Wednesday. I have only lost 32 lbs. I lost 16 lbs in the first 2 weeks and then 16 lbs in the last 6 wks. It is very frustrating. I follow my menu to the "t". The NUT even says I do very well with eating but why cannot I lose more! I go to the doctor on Thursday so I will ask what he thinks but I know what he will say, "you are doing great". Best of luck to you! I wish I had a suggestion but I don't know what to do either! trying not to get discouraged 5 weeks out

Kerri, I am so with you! My surgery was on the 13th of October and since wk 3 I have stalled! I even gained weight! I will also be 5 wks on Wednesday! I am so frustrated and have been in tears quite a bit about this. Then I start thinking that I will never get over this hump and be fat all my life. Why did I do the surgery if it won't work and I am doing everything I am supposed to do! I know that I have lost inches but why will the scale not move! I right down everything I eat but have not put it into something that tells me calories. I hardly eat any carbs and get between 70 and 90 gms of Protein each day which is what the NUT wants. I don't get 64 oz of Water but try really hard! If I can be of any support feel free to message me. Melissa -
Hi October Sleevers! I haven't seen updates from October sleevers so I would love to see how all is doing. I have lost 21 lbs since surgery! My 4 wk mark will be this Wednesday! I have hit the 3 wk stall and am fighting constipation! I even gained 1.5 lbs which was very depressing. However, today I weighed and am back down to where I was before I hit stall and gained. I am a bad person when it comes to the scale! Must weigh everyday! I hope all is going well with everyone! Melissa

Awesome job! Keep up the good work! Glad you are feeling better! Melissa -
Well tomorrow will be 2 wks out! I have lost 15 lbs plus the 28 lbs before surgery! This morning instead of exited I was disappointed because I was just down 1 lb. Then I thought get real Melissa! I am so fortunate to have lost that much! I am the kind of person who wants it to happen overnight. I still have some soreness which is normal. My surgeon called me yesterday to check on me. I was shocked as I have had surgery before and never have I had the surgeon contact me. Amazing!!! I have some minor hunger issues going on within the last few days. I just think that it is probably time to move onto the next step in my eating phases which would be puree but will hang onto then. I cannot wait until I can have some turkey, fish, chicken etc even if it is pureed! I think that the extra added Protein will help with the minor hunger! I can't seem to get all my protein in however, it is hard when you can't get real protein in. I am having problems with milk products so they believe I am probably lactose intolerant now. So have to do protein shakes that are not milk based. Otherwise I am getting stronger everyday! I am praying for those who are having surgery and for those who are recovering. Best of luck to all! Look forward to updates from all!

Wow Kerri, you are doing alot better than I to be able to go back to work. Don't rush it if you can help it. Take care of yourself. To those who are getting ready for surgery, my prayers are with you for a quick recovery. For me it has been a little rougher than I thought. I have lost 10 lbs. Woohoo!!! I am finally getting more liquids and Proteins in. It has been tough. sugar free popsicles are my best friend. Since surgery they believe I have become lactose intolerant so therefore, milk based Protein shakes are not very good for me. Right now I am fighting a fever but they do not seem to worried about it. The nurse and surgeon feels that I am probably not getting the rest I need. Still have tenderness but that obviously should be expected. Its only been 8 days since surgery. I have had some depressive days however, the next day seems a little better. Its hard feeding your family and then setting in the living room while they have all the wonderful food that I used to eat. It is all a head game that we all have to work through. ---@

Thanks for all your prayers. Got home a few days ago. I am tired and very sore! I was shocked on how hard it was going to be. The day of surgery I was so out of it that I couldn't keep my eyes open. Slept alot with lots of pain meds but was up walking a couple of times. The next day the nausea was pretty bad so it was nausea meds alot. I came home on Friday. I have tried hard to get liquids in and that is hard. Just got to keep at it. Today seems to be a bit better with liquids. Eating is no big deal. Can or don't have too. I am not getting enough protein in but working on it. Hope all is going well for everyone right now.
