I decided to have the lap band procedure after virtually every other thing failed. My family doctor recommended the Alma location because they are board certified. The hospital is also rated one of the top 100 in the US, a rating that apppears to be well deserved. Even the sugar free jello I was served post op was delivered by a kid with a chef's hat and carried as if he had something REALLY good under the tray cover. I am a foodaholic and this is my absolutely last chance. I am extremely short and started out with a BMI of 37, not horrible, but horrible enough with heart complications. 5 days post surgery I am down 11 pounds. I keep checking the scale, which seems rather reluctant to move farther down. I do hope this is a good beginning and not a stall already. My personal goal is probably not what the program has set for me. I would be quite happy to end up with a BMI of 25 or so.It is now 5 months post surgery. We are snowbirds, and I had planned to get a fill while we were on vacation. However, I decided to wait until we returned. Unfortunately, that might have not been a good decision, since I only lost 4 pounds while we were gone. I have now had two fills and have lost another 6 pounds. Not wonderful, but I am SO much more comfortable, and I am confident that more weight loss will follow. This has been almost too easy.
