I have struggled with my weight my whole life. A friend of mine received her Lap Band about 3 years ago and that is when I became interested. Over the last 3 years, in addition to battling depression, I started experiencing lots of aches and pains that I felt too young for! I'm 35 and the thought of having to try yet another diet to get this weight off to hopefully decrease my weight, aches and pains, and increase my self esteem was more than I could handle. However, my insurance does not cover any form of bariatric surgery, so I thought it was out of the question. For my 35th birthday, I asked my mother to go shopping with me for some things for my yard; she gave me an IOU. A few weeks later I realized that I had absolutely no fall clothes that fit, so I asked Mom to get me some clothes instead of yard things. Well, she did and then made the most generous offer; she wanted to pay for me to have Lap Band surgery. We attended a couple of seminars, I decided on a surgeon and began the process. For me, there was no particular pre-operative diet. I just had the surgery and came home to start my liquid diet. And that's where I am right now. I had the surgery a week and a half ago and am doing just fine. I can't wait to eat solid foods!
