I have the yummy stuff...... I start the 30th

You will need to get a sleep titration done for your CPAP machine. Most surgeons require you to be on it atleast 6 weeks before surgery. This can in turn post-pone your surgery.

Did you cheat on pre-op liquid diet
Tally23 replied to crystalcml's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Katie, I have not started my pre-op diet yet- not till the 30th. I just keep thinking you can do it! I went a week without food in the hospital back in feb. for pancreatitis. Nothing by mouth except water. Im sure if I can do that I will not have a problem with this. -

I have had excessive daytime somulence and at first they thought it was narcolepsy. I was tested a year ago for sleep apnea by a sleep study and it was negative. I just had a second one a month ago and since my last I have gained weight. I have developed sleep apnea to the point where my 97% of my REM sleep is sleep apnea. Your REM sleep is your best rest- or dream sleep. sleeping helps you heal and if you can't sleep well then your healing will not be as good as it can be.

So I had my last appt with my surgeon today. It only took 15 minutes... He is like so do you want surgery? YESSSSS... why the h*ll do you think Ive done all this c*ap... LOL... So the papers should be heading into the insurance shortly. I think I have a little bit of an advantage because my company has its own insurance which is located in the same state. So my papers do not have far to travel but of course with the holiday I expect it to take longer then usual. I am so excited and I can hardly wait. I am trying to stay positive that it will be approved. Im so sick of doctors now, between the pancreatitis and this Ive had atleast 5-6 appts every month for the past 6 months. To add ontop of that I have seen a huge increase in patients that I see that have had the gastric bypass and are just horrible. They state that if they could do it over again then they would have never done it...I try to remind myself they had surgery how many years ago, things have changed and they had the bypass not the lap band... Im trying to stay positive but having this one patient atleast every week with negative comments about it is a real bummer. Not only that but my co-workers seem the have a thing against it as well. Although none of them have had it done...And none of them know I am having it done... hmmmmm...

Please help I'm a standstill with my surgeon's office...
Tally23 replied to spoiltmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
File a complaint with the manager of the office. I work in a medical office and no one deserves to be treated like that. If anything they should tell her to get an attitude adjustment or get out. -
Will I lose my band?
Tally23 replied to Sherbrooke's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do not have a band but just got over pancreatitis back in Feb. All my symptoms sounded the same as yours. The tail of my panc. was just inflammed no gallstones or anything. Maybe the doc should look at that.. -
Im so upset and I need to vent. I was to have my last appt with my surgeon today scheduled at 4pm. I have my last of 6 classes that I have been required to do by insurance tonight at 6. I just recieved a call that my surgeon was called out of the office and my appt is canceled for today. I was rescheduled a whole MONTH from today. I was hoping that was when I would have my surgery.. a month or so from today. Now... it will be pushed even farther away. Just more time for me to be stuck struggling this this horrible thing. I was recently diagnosed with sleep apnea a week ago. Likely due to my weight. I have had and still continue to have sleepless nights. I am considering looking for another surgeon... but I do not want to start this whole process over again. How long did it take everyone else from start to surgery day??
-
Thank you all so much for your supporting replies. It makes me feel much better knowing that someone is reading what I post and understands where I am coming from. So I was able to reschedule with the surgeon for the 30th. However he is so busy they are booking surgery out till the end of Aug. right now. Even then I need to do a 10 day protien shake diet and bowel prep before surgery as well.. Im dissapointed but it is ok... it will happen...

Hello all! I am two days away from having my final surgical appointment and last class before everything is submitted to my insurance. I am concerned because back in febuary I was hospitalized with Pancreatitis of unknown cause. Just recently like last thursday I have started having some of the same symptoms as I had back with the first attack. I can not say for sure if this is what it is but I dont want it to be because I am concerned it may jepordize my surgical approval. Anyone have any experience with this or even words of wisdom I would appreciate it. Thanks, Talitha

Your excitment makes me look forward to my surgery even more. I took have talked about doing pictures pre and post surgery. I want to document it all. This is my struggle!! I know what it is like.. Good luck!!!!

I'm so sick of Nay sayers
Tally23 replied to warrior68's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too have had a lot of negative responses to this surgery. Only really close people like my b/f, my mother really know. My boss also knows but she is more accepting for the fact because she has had the gastric bypass. I share a office with two other older women. Many times we have had conversations about our weight etc and they have both commented on the fact that they think this is a horrible surgery and do not know why people would do it. Oh and neither of them know I am having the surgery. I want people to know but I know I will just get negative attitudes about it. So I guess it is my little secret for now.. -
So I only have less than two months before surgery and for the last month or so I have been gaining weight none stop. I feel like I’m not eating as much but I am still gaining. I keep having thoughts of my insurance denying surgery because I continued to gain weight during the 6 months beforehand. Am I just freaking out? Is this normal?

Disappointed with myself
Tally23 replied to Tally23's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I see the dietition today at 4pm and I have been keeping a food and exercise diary. I am hoping she can shead some light on this.... Ive been so bummed the last few days. I am almost looking forward to the two week liquid diet..... -
Catherine- That is exactally what my surgeon told me. If I dont stick to the diet they will know because your liver will still be big and such. He said if they get in there and see this then they will close me up and ship me out. No surgery... then I will need to start all over again.
-
Kerri-your post makes me smile. I know once I start my pre-op diet I will be just like you. I was reading your post thinking.. omg that is me...hahah... I know it will be very hard and I mean very hard. Maybe some mild sedation for the two weeks..kidding. I think just keeping your mind busy would help. I know when I am busy and thinking about things I sometimes forget to eat. Wish it was that easy all the time but it isnt. Good luck and keep us posted because I will be right behind you in a few weeks.

Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor Surgery in 3 months
Tally23 replied to Tally23's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Dawn and Mrs. Rhonda I would love to get in contact with both of you. I havent been doing well lately. I just got out of the hospital after staying there for 5 days for acute pancreatitis- Not fun. The only good thing about it is now I need to be on a low fat diet for the rest of my life and no alcohol... so I guess that gives me a head start on things..lol -
I am in the process of getting my LB done by Dr. Monk in york. Had an appt wed. He will not fill anyone who he has not done surgery on. I am not sure about Dr. Garber but Monk will not do it.
