Who else has lots of gas?
Tally23 replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It all depends on what I eat. If I eat carbs- pasta, bread, rice etc... WATCH OUT... and I bloat like crazy but meats and veggies really do not do it to me.. -
Scared...Surgeon wont call back
Tally23 replied to Tally23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I saw the surgeon. What I thought was my port isn’t… the lump I was feeling apparently is my port. So he stuck a needle about 5 inches long into my tummy. Primed the port and put 1cc in. Now I have a total of 4 cc’s in my band. They had put 3 cc’s in during surgery. Clear liquids for 24 hours, and then advance to full and pureed 48 hours and add in solids as I feel I can handle it. Hopefully everything goes ok with this 1 cc fill. Keep your fingers crossed!! -
I have not had a fill yet but notice the tightness of my band really fluctuates with my menstral cycles and emotions. When I am stressed or upset I get tight. Right now I am a week from my cycle and I have a full feeling 24-7

Castor Oil.. One shot glass full and your good. I have had multiple colonoscopies in the past ( None since the band) but I had to do the oil bowel prep for the band surgery. It was the easiest thing on my tummy and I already have a touchy one at that. The HalfLytely® and Bisacodyl Tablets wrecked my tummy and the miralax

Scared...Surgeon wont call back

Just got back from the surgeon’s office, I met with the Nurse. She ended up pulling another surgeon in the room because mine is in surgery today. He is not sure what it is but said it MIGHT be fluid.. Whatever it is it has gone up under the port and turned it on its side ..He said it doesn’t look like or feel like infection or scar tissue… He said to watch it, take it easy and call on Monday if there is no improvement… Take Tylenol….well all the liquid and chewable Tylenols are on recall….and that stuff isn’t made in off brand. -

Scared...Surgeon wont call back
Tally23 replied to Tally23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
According to my surgeon massage of the scars are absolutely fine provided they are completely healed shut. Massage helps to break down the fibrous mesh that is formed in scar tissue, thus, encouraging remodeling of the tissue and promotes better healing of the scar. It also helps prevent scar tissue from getting hard. This mass is not near or beneath an incision. I didn’t have it before surgery. I am not saying it is related but things can happen. Nurse called and left a message. There phones have been down since yesterday…What a great thing to have happen in a surgical office…But she was on the phone when I called back.. Told me to call her in the A.M… P.S. I have also started running a fever.. -

Im not doing it hard and they are all healed. It is a light rub. But this mass thing isnt under and incision like the port is. -
How do you know if your port has turned for flipped on its side? Mine does not feel the same today as it did a week or so after surgery.

What do you use to moisten your meat?
Tally23 replied to Kristy29's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Agree- So do I and the meat usually comes out falling apart. It is great and most of all...most of the time it is a one dish meal..no extra dirty pots etc! Which is a plus for me!! -

strange feelings in tummy
Tally23 replied to onthego317's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 16 days post op and I still cant lay on my stomach. I can lay on either of my sides but it is still uncomfortable enough to make me just sleep on my back. I can feel the port a little when I walk and some of my incisions are sore from clothes rubbing them. I also get these AMAZINGLY loud stomach growls when I am hungry. I eat a little of something and it goes away. Also my back hurts as well but it is due to me trying to compensate for loss of stomach muscle strength. I still hurt even now but it is not as bad. As far as the red tennis ball- sounds like a post-surgical hernia. Depending on how much fluffiness you have in the front you might be able to feel something the size of a marble which is the port but nothing bigger then that. I would schedule a appt with the surgeon and if the nurse asks why tell her you do not feel comfortable talking with her about it. She can not deny you medical care. If the surgeon does not do anything see your PCP. Hernias are common after surgery because they cut the muscle which makes it very weak. The slightest stress in a healing muscle wall can cause a hernia. That is also why they stress healing before you do to much. -
Back to the Band...after 3 years
Tally23 replied to cegj29's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I suffer from major acid reflux.. I take powder nexium 40mg daily. It works great. Especially with the band  -
Its a serious question.. I swear.. For the larger or even smaller chested woman. Have any of you found it difficult to wear a underwire bra after surgery? Underwires have been the only thing I wear and now since surgery I am finding it VERY uncomfortable maybe even painful to wear one. Maybe cause it is pushing down on my breast bone and the band lies right below?

Ok so I had what I think was a stuck episode last night. But this morning I still feel like I have something stuck in my throat. Everything that I eat goes down ok and no slimmies. So I am thinking because of all the coughing and the few dry heaves that "it feels" like something is there but it really isnt? Does this make sense? Anyone else feel this way.

Thanks sue, that is what I am currently doing.

Ok so today I am 10 days post op. About three days ago I started having this weird pain like sensation in the back of my thighs, back of knee and sometimes back of calf area. It only happens when I stand up from sitting. Sometimes it is so intense that I feel like my legs are going to give out. It only lasts a few seconds after I stand then goes away. Any ideas what this could be?

Pain medication - how long did you take them?
Tally23 replied to shgw9901's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think I took my pain meds 6 or so days out then I realized all the itching that was going on was a allergic reaction to the pain med. Surgeon said to just take tylenol. I cant stand the taste of liquid tylenol so I have been without. The pain does get better. -
Molly- I was banded 9 days ago and my taste has changed quiet a bit. Some things do have a metalic taste or a horrible after taste where before they didnt bug me.

Same here as soon as I walk in the door..sling shot..LOL

How do you cough after surgery?
Tally23 replied to losethemess's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Coughing, sneezing, rolling in bed, getting up and down in a chair, laughing- it all hurt VERY much. I pillow does help. I am 9 days out and things have calmed down but it still is tender to do anything I listed above.
