Hey RL- he just had surgery he will feel pain and miserable. I took care of my mom about 5 years ago when she has gastric bypass. That was hard. Then three months ago I had the lap band and my mom took care of me. Pain is normal, use a heating pad on the tummy and take the pain pills. Drink lots of fuilds- as much as your can. Have him get up to move it will move the gas around and also help him in having a bowel movement. Good luck- Im here if you need to talk

fluid missing when checking levels at a fill
Tally23 replied to heidi05's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a fill about 4 weeks ago and I was missing 1 cc. My surgeon said it can hang out in the tubing/curves of the band. I go in on monday for another check/fill. He never said anything about evaporation. Ill let you know what I find out on monday. Till then good luck with things. Try not to worry about it to much. -
What do you do when you get stuck?
Tally23 replied to clm2003's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had one stuck episode and it was my first and ONLY..lol...If you get stuck and are at home or someones house lay on your left side. I dont know the science behind it but it helps food move through. I have also heard about doing the left armed chicken dance. If you are somewhere where you can't lay down stick your left hand bent up under your left shoulder and flap like a chicken. It does almost the same thing as the laying down.... But in all honesty try try very hard not to get stuck because IT HURTS... and it isnt good for your pouch/band. But in those rare cases when it accidentaly happens lay down on the left side if you can.. -
So I found this exercise TV on my comcast on demand cable. Its free... so I did a 20 minute walking work out last night... I guess I did too much too quick because my hips are KILLING ME.. I really didnt think 20 minutes would be all that much...:huh2: But I guess it was for a person who does not normally do it..:huh2:

So today I had my second fill. Apparently when he aspirated the Fluid he only took out 2cc's. At my first fill he put 1cc in addition to the 2cc's that were already in there. He said that fluid can hang out in the curves of the band?!?! I go back in 4 weeks to see if I lost any more fluid. I should have a total of 4cc's but only can account for 3cc's now. Anyone else experience this problem? Could it be a leak?

I agree the BA Vitamins are HORRIBLE tasting. I use Vitafusion Gummies for adults. They also have chewable calcium and vit. D.

Protein Shake Advice
Tally23 replied to boricuanessa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am very picky about my protein. I am especially picky about the taste. I just found a shake called "Muscle Milk". And I like it. I got a 14 fl oz and it has 240 calories and 25 grams of protein. It is also lactose free. And it has tons of vitamins and minerals in it as well. Which really amazes me that it tastes so good. I would def. try this if you get the chance too!!!:w00t::thumbup: -

Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor Looking for a buddy
Tally23 replied to Tally23's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You can ask someone to be your buddy on here and also email them. Sometime you have more personal questions you don't want to ask anyone but your buddy. Not only that but email is a great way to become more personal with your buddy and find out more about them. -
Anyone ever hear of losing inches over pounds. It’s been about 4 weeks since surgery and my weight really has not moved. I seem to see my body measurement’s coming down but not the weight.... Am I alone?

can you feel your port?
Tally23 replied to tle5000's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I thought I was feeling my port for the longest time at the end of my large incision but the doc said it might be part of the tubing. My port I wasnt able to feel till 4-5 weeks out.. I just really found out where it was when I had my first fill on Monday. I thought the LARGE lump I was feeling was something abnormal and it wasnt.. Just my port.. -
Hello my inspiration... your posts move me...lol... They make me want to keep going and try harder...Thank you..

Thankfully my snack choices are almost always good... not like chips stuff. It is more like cheese or a fruit etc. I hope the compulsion to eat does stop when I get restriction. That would be great. But I know I will still think in my head...wtf.... only three spoons of food and I am full.. that isnt right....lets try another.....then im screwed...I guess after so many times you learn your lesson...lol

I am most def. tighter in the A.M and have trouble with almost anything for breakfast. A drink is usually required then but lunch and dinner I am okay.
-
So I hadn’t eating in over 8 hours and then all of a sudden I woke up from sleeping this AM coughing and then dry heaved once and then again when I made it to the bathroom. Now the weather has been pretty bad here going from hot to cold. I know my sinuses are stuffed and draining. Before the band I had this problem of sinuses draining and dry heaving. But I must admit I also ate something I shouldn’t have last night at dinner. I had a band fill 4 days ago today. I can keep fluids down and I am working on a yogurt right now which is going okay.. I’m just wondering if my band could be too tight or if this whole thing is my sinuses. Also off note I am due to start my period today and I always notice I am tighter during that time.

I still have a compulsion to eat... I just try to find something else to do when I want to eat and know I shouldnt. It is also hard because I have a boyfriend who lives with me and is ALWAYS snacking... My bedroom has become my favorite place again. When I need to relax I go there or out for a walk. Dont get me wrong either I have ate out of compulsion already and nearly got stuck. I paid for it...No one is perfect and this whole thing is new to me. Its like being back in kindergarden and relearning how to do certain things all over again. Kinda sucks but I always try to remember why I had the surgery done...and in the end I will be a much healthier person..

Scared...Surgeon wont call back
Tally23 replied to Tally23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not a clue- He said sometimes you just get a fever and do not know why. He said not to worry about it. -
My masseuse had mentioned about rubbing my scars 30 minutes a day to help them heal and blend in better. So I started doing that a few days ago but this morning I came upon a golf ball sized hard mass type thing it is in between the two upper small incisions and the longer port incision like right below my right rib cage. I can feel something move when I walk and when I lay down that side of the stomach kind of sticks out. With palpation if feels tender. I am trying to figure out what it could be. I know where my port is I can clearly feel that but this is new. I called the surgeon yesterday right at 8am. The nurse was busy so I left a message on her machine. She never called me back. Today I called about an hour ago and she was busy yet again so I left another message. I would think this would be of some importance especially taking into consideration the way I felt this morning and the hot/cold sweats. I am pretty sure I was running a temp about two nights ago but I never checked it... I’m a little scared... I hope I didn’t do anything when I fell a week ago....
