  1. Hi! I am new, and posting so that silly banner at the top will go away (smile). My insurance carrier, Uniform Medical, recently announced it was adding bariatric surgery for the first time under its new plan. I don't know if that will include Lapband, or not. I am considering having Dr. Ortiz in Tijuana, MX as a surgeon and self-pay if insurance doesn't cover. Right now, I am just here trying to gather information on side effects and how the tool works. ::wave:

    Good News & Bad News-NOT

Hi Tired... I'm new, so you don't know me, so take this with a grain of salt. Whenever I've been "blocked" from something I really, really thought I wanted or needed, I've often been surprised to find a better result was waiting ... just out of sight. Perhaps being blocked from "what is available" will lead to you discovering another talent or area of your life that needs attention. I hope so. Your posts on this forum are very helpful to me, especially in light of complications you've encountered. I appreciate your patient, measured approach to living with the band. Thank you.
  3. I must be making some progress here, because I've nearly backed away from the band (in my mind - the only place I am making progress at the moment... smile) because of reading about the complications and band failures. What I think I need to remember, is that the majority of folks for whom the bands works, are likely just living and loving their new lives... and not posting on this forum. Soo.... I keep reading and learning and taking in information. Does anyone here attend any face-to-face support groups in the Olympia area? Thanks! Sis
