i was wondering how has everyone who has been banded for a while coped with breaking old habits...i had a little break down moment last night...i got my first fill on the 2nd and obviously i'm eating a significant amount less and sometimes i get frustrated b/c i can't eat more and its not that i'm hungry its just the act of eating more i guess which always comforted me...anyone have any suggestions on how i can prepare myself to deal with these frustrations....

eating reg foods is normal...don't worry about the guilt thing i felt the same way...just remember portion size...read the labels and eat slowly. i was banded on 10-21...how much your prep yourself during your healing period def. helps when you get your first fill..i just had mine on 12-2 and i was starting to "cheat" a little towards the end b/c i was only filled with 4cc and i didn't really feel any restriction so its been a little more challenging for me now that i'm eating way way less...but keep up the good work...remember you have to think of things not in pounds but how much change your making!

yeah i dunno what kinda diet your doct put you on but i got mine on 10-21 and within a week and a half of post op i was eating egg salad, chicken salad, fish, chicken, turkey...i mean don't go for the overcooked t bone steak but def. softer higher protein foods are good...a trick too with the mashed potatoes get unflavored protein and put that in the potatoes...it gives you more protein b/c the more protein you have the less likely you will be hungry. also remember that just b/c your not dropping a bunch of weight means it wasn't worht it....it will take time and the fact that you can see a change in your eating patterns is a huge success! keep up the good work! your doing great!

yeah i think he over filled me...i can only eat 1/2 of an egg and maybe 1 oz of turkey lunch meat at a sitting.. i am going to have to call him later today and see if i can go back in for another adjustment...i think you were right it was because i wasn't chewing it enough...since i have been chewing better i haven't had any pain! Thank you so much for the advice!

i just got my first fill yesterday...and i have noticed that i don't really have any appetite, but i have been monitoring how long it has been inbetween meals. When i do eat obviously i can't eat that much. but when i get the signal i am full i get horrible pains in my shoulder almost like if there was a gas pocket there.. is there any other way besides having the pain to figure out i'm full. When he filled me he filled me with 7.5 CC's i dunno if anyone knows a specific amount i should eat...i really would like to not feel the pain if its not neccessary! Thanks Courtney

i haven't had it for a really long time...surgery was on October 21st. but i have lost 31 lbs so far and i don't exercise like crazy. i go 3x weekly maybe for 30 min.... even without exericise your going to loose a substantial amount due to the restriction in eating.
