Ok this just goes to show you how different doctors are. This is what my surgeon told me at my post op appointment: Don't eat if you are not hungry. If a day, two goes by and you aren't hungry, don't eat. (At this point I asked "what about the Protein shakes though?). He said NO. He followed that up with if you are ever hungry, the only thing I want you to eat is fruit. No nuts, no carbs, just fruit. Trust me I had to go over this all in my head a few times to make sure I wasn't dreaming, but this is word for word what my doctor said 2 weeks post op. Btw I'm drinking shakes to get protein and lots of Water. I have had watermelon and pineapple no issues. Its amazing how these things vary, it's almost comical. Almost. Just thinking... Kids obese from fruit? Huh. I've visited a lot of Latin American countries where there are fruit vendors on every corner and you see people snacking on fruit like Americans snack on chips. They were all incredibly healthy and fit. Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

One Liners for so-called friends...
jaxmom replied to Cape Crooner's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
So here is the one I've decided to use for "friends" who will blindly do anything a Kardashian (ugh hurt to type that) or Real Housewives of Wherever does. Friend: O. M. G. You. Lost. Weight. HOW????? Tellmetellmetellmetellmetellme NOW. I don't care what it costs, where I have to go, what I have to do. What. Is. It. ??? Me: (Lean in real close, shift eyes, whisper) Ok I'm only going to tell YOU because we are friends. I've done some research on the web and found out how Kardashian/Housewife/Vapid Actress gets so thin for summer season. Ready??? Friend: (hyperventilating). Yes yes yes what????? Me: It's a tape worm. I ordered it online. They shipped it on dry ice from the South American Rainforest. They have tribes that collect them. They compensate the tribes by giving them cellphones and stuff so it's totally cool. It's 100% organic, GMO free, and when it's done its job it's recyclable so won't harm the planet!!!! I'm telling you it's a miracle. I already have a solid connection and stars are on the wait list so if you want me to, you can give me cash and I will order you one. Friend: (Ear piercing squeal) Here is my wallet!!!!!! Me: (completely serious) You won't regret any of this. And I PROMISE not to tell anyone else. Heh I already know that I'm going to hell so I'm fine with this. I just wonder if the devil will allow me to bring a small fan and supply me with a neat-o pitchfork... ? Morning my little Antipodean treasure. Thought that you weren't talking to us as you have been VERY quiet for the last couple of days. Thought you might have got the hump because we caught you out being unfaithful in your affections to Ms LipstickLady. Tsk tsk. You bounder sir. Yep this thread is still toddling along. I was incredibly worried about you too!!! Where the heck is my kangaroo? I have a nice big backyard for him to play in. Can you give me approximate size of him so I can have a snappy collar made for him too? Ooooh and maybe a vest.... Please include a platypus as well. I have a pool and we would have so much fun. Again, I am prepared to pay shipping costs for all. Or you can just deliver in person- yey!!! Glad to see you back. Missed ya. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Ahhhhhh the horrible feeling of dreading going in for a fill. I know the feeling and it's terrible. Your story is similar to mine- diet pills, trainer, a band. I had a band for 6 years with moderate success- until it broke. My surgeon was very reassuring and removed it and created a sleeve at same time. I couldn't be happier. Have you considered having band removed and getting a sleeve? I ask because my doctors were very unhappy with bands and refused to put any more in, only remove them. They said overall they created problems (slipping, gerd etc) and not very impressed with weight loss overall. It just sounds like you have been through so much and are still willing to fight for your health. Why not set yourself up for a better chance of success? WLS is NO magic cure I KNOW. It's work, mental and physical. However there are so many success stories out there as you can see on this website. I would love to see you part of them. I sincerity wish you the very best. Big hug O. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Your awesome attitude and advice are like a contact high (can you get that though the web? ). Your post really hit home. I'm a month post- op and on a high so high I'm soaring... And I'm sure my poor family wishes I would keep on going so I can give their ears and legs a break! Soooooo important to know that there will be bumps, stalls and gains along the way. Keeps me in check. Also nice to know there are wonderful, supportive HONEST people like you to turn to when I come down from the clouds. Now I'm off again, la la la la!! One month in, feel fantastic, bees flourishing!
jaxmom posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I think my subject line says it all!!! Today marks my one month band to sleeve revision. I could not feel better. I was 177.4 on surgery day and today I'm 162.2. Yippee!!!!!!! I have about 20 more pounds to go. I know the hard part is ahead but boy, do I feel awesome. For some reason the surgery has given me an extreme burst of energy- I haven't felt this good in years. I've been working my bees and just found out they are doing so well I had to add a top box today. Yey!!! So my lovely girls are growing, I'm getting smaller, it's spring in the South and life could not be better. Just wanted to share and wish everyone a great day and best of luck with their journey. Oh!!! I should add that this weekend I'm going on a overnight kayaking trip down the Peace River to look for fossils with my 12 year old daughter. I haven't slept in a tent in over 15 years... I must be crazy. So if you don't hear from me after Monday... I have fallen prey to a gator or exhaustion. I'm telling you, this surgery has made me (crazy) superwoman. I hope it lasts!!! How soon after surgery did you go out?
jaxmom replied to Gastricsleeve0514's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think you will be fine. I had my surgery on a Wednesday and was running errands the following Monday. I would bring your water/shake in a sports bottle. If anyone asks you why you aren't eating you can always say you just got over a tummy bug and wanted to err on the side of caution. Or.... If your niece is under 5 she probably won't remember you not being there and you can stay at home in bed and send a gift. Just kidding!! Have fun. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
So today I woke up and took my normal morning tubby. When I went to dry off the strangest thing happened... The towel went all the way around me and I was even able to tuck a bit in to hold it! This is proof that towel gnomes exist and they must have come in the night and magically made all my towels longer and bigger. The husband says it's because I've lost weight but he's a silly man. I know who's a work here. Now if they could just give up the underpants and sock gnomes that infest this house I'd be ever so grateful... Is this one of those NSV thingies? Wow. What a gift this surgery is. Every day I'm amazed and thankful. Jen Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

@LipstickLady. Ahhhhhhhhh trust me. I would rather spend Saturday sleeping in, then heading out for a mani/pedi followed by a trip to Sephora, maybe Barnes and Noble, ending with a nice glass of white wine on a deck somewhere. I promised my daughter we would do this trip when I felt good enough to do so. I thought that wouldn't be until the Fall and I could wiggle out of it saying too much going on. Well doncha know this kid and the rest of the family has been observing, in shock and awe as I have torn around this house full of energy. (Sneaky over observant people- pfft) My evil husband smiled at me the other night and said "I'll get the tent out of the shed. You and Maddie are taking a little trip." So that's it. I've been sold out by my own hubby. Him and my son have already said they are looking forward to a relaxing, QUIET weekend. HUMPH. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

I'm 4'11 and 1/2 but keep my hair big enough to make me look 5'00. Heh. I also say a prayer every night to grow a half inch... I'm 44 and this has yet to happen. I was sleeved on April 20th at 177.4. One month out and I'm 162.2. I feel FANTASTIC. I'm happy with my weight loss number overall, but in comparison to some of the others I see I get a teeny bit frustrated. But I tell myself that's cause they are TALL. I have to tell myself something, right? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hey there! I'm in Jacksonville. This Wednesday I will be 4 weeks out. I was a band to sleeve conversation and haven't felt this good in years. I have a ton of energy and no real hunger. I pray this lasts!! If anyone has any questions, ask away. I'm a newbie on here but will help however I can. Take care! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I'm in Jacksonville too. All the GNCs carry it. Make sure you get them to give you a taste before you buy. They are super nice about it and you will be glad you did... People raved about these and I couldn't get them down- and I'm pretty tough! Even with nose held I said "that's not Gatorade!". Heh. Best of luck. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I paid for my band in the Dominican Republic because my BMI requirements not met. (Not high enough). My insurance covered the entire revision here in the states. I was amazed. No issues getting it approved either! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hey there. I'm a newbie too but had a revision. I had the band for 6 years and it broke. Horrible news to hear! My doctor said no worries he would remove and create a sleeve. Less than 2 months later it happened and I'm a little over 3 weeks out. I feel FANTASTIC. Why did I not do sleeve before? The procedure itself wasn't too bad. I had quite a bit of scar tissue around the port and as a result have a smaller sleeve. Fine with me!!! Recovery was no issues. In Wednesday, out Thursday, on my feet back to normal (errands, dog park, gardening) by next week. I know what is like to have a bad band... I referred to mine as "space junk"'once I found out it was floating around in me, inoperable. I would encourage you to go talk to your doctor and see what they say. You have come this far and I truly believe the second time is the charm. Best of luck let me know if you have any questions. There are amazing people on this website that are super generous with their experience and knowledge. I'm so glad I found it!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
