    I month out... Appetite returns

I'm pretty sure a PPI is for blocking tummy acid. I think the other members are asking you because sometimes excess acid mimics hunger. Also, have you tried more dense Proteins? I'm almost 6 weeks out and I noticed that blended food slips right through (I thought my sleeve was too big) where dense Protein (chicken, beef) fills me up super quick. I hope you find what works, best of luck!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  3. You look so healthy and happy!!! Good for you for getting back on track after your loss. It shows amazing focus, dedication and is truly inspiring. Keep us posted and send more pictures! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  4. Hey there- I'm so sorry to hear you don't feel good right now. I had a revision from a brand to a sleeve (had sleeve for 6 years) and am doing great almost 6 weeks out. Other than the restriction and the small scars I never would have known I had surgery. I can promise you this does get much better!!! Remember you just had major surgery so go easy right now. The gas pains are the worst but the sooner you can get up and move around the better. Read some of the veteran posts here for inspiration and to see what you have to look forward to. This part is the worst but every day you will heal and every day you will feel a bit better. In a few weeks you will shake your head when you think of saying you regret this- because you won't. Follow your teams directions, take care and keep us posted. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Surgery day!

Oh no!!!! First of all here is a big huge hug! O I'm so sorry you are going through a break up. Sounds like now is a time to focus on your heart and head. Don't worry, I don't think your awesome body will quit on you if you give it a break for a week or two. I think stress can really mess with the physical things going on in our bodies so don't be too hard on yourself ok? Your posts always inspire me and make me smile. I LOVE the super cute new jacket btw. You need to get it on, maybe with the cute high waisted pants, some heels and hit the town. It sounds like you need a night of making men's heads turn to show you how far you have come girl!!! Again, DONT WORRY. If anyone can hit their goal is you. Take care ok?? Another hug O- and a shot!!! ;) Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    No more alimony

What a day for you. It sounds like you did what had to be done with dignity and fairness. Good for you for making those payments too- I used to work for Child Support Enforcement and it's amazing how many men won't. In the end it hurt them and really hurt the kids too. Your wife was lucky that you set these goals and handled the whole situation like you did. Now reach your arm waaaaaay up, bend it, and give yourself a huge pat on the back if you already haven't done so. You certainly deserve it!!! I always enjoy reading your posts so much. You have great attitude, insight and it sounds like you do your research. I'm going to second the statement made by rereee6898- You are a good man OKCPirate. 9. Oh wow, thank you for the list!!! I printed it out and put it next to blender. I love they you use so many fruits and included a good sub for a cocktail! I'm headed to Miami for 7 weeks where the mangos are everywhere. My daughter makes pie and I make jelly and jam. Now I'm going to find a good protein smoothie to incorporate them into. I know they have high sugar so I will have to bike that off. As always, thank you so much for sharing. You are doing an amazing job and are an inspiration. 10. As usual, VSGAnn2014 says it the best. You have absolutely nothing to be embarrassed about. You made a decision that you felt was right for you. Look at it this way- you are now educated about the surgery and the whole process so if later in life you decide its for you, less research! I hope you at least got to enjoy Mexico for a few days. Don't beat yourself up. There is no point. Relax and enjoy the summer. Take care. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    people not educating themselves

My NUTs preferred method of "educating" me is to give me a long blank stare. That is followed by a visit to an ancient filing cabinet where she fishes out a "ditto" (I didn't even know these still existed- last time I saw one was in 2nd grade and that was many many moons ago) and handing it to me with a big fake smile. She weighs maybe 96 pounds, most of it long blond hair and eyelashes. I just get the impression she's not the sharpest tool in the shed therefore I come here when questions pop up. Thank goodness this site exists. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Post Your Silly Rant

Hehehe!!!! You mean you haven't found a recipe that calls for a thimbleful of milk, a splash of orange juice or a microscopic dab of Peanut Butter either? Good it seems I'm not alone! Ahhhhhh kids. Maybe husbands too. . . . . Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    people not educating themselves

It's great that your team was so wonderful. Not everybody has the same luck. I also think that the vast majority of people are very educated, but the whole process really can be overwhelming to some. I know I've had moments where I've scratched my head and thought "Hummm... Did I hear my doctor right?" Thank goodness I have this forum to turn to so I can ask questions- especially in the middle of the night! That being said I know these folks aren't doctors (if some of you are, yey you!) so I would never take serious medical advice without consulting my team. This is a place to learn, listen and share. Sorry if it bothers you that some of us don't have the same smarts as you and didn't come through the process thinking we could qualify to be nutritionists as well. Darn! Then I could have added on to my the end of my name after J.D. Thanks to all the members who take the time to respond and offer insight. I learn so much every day. Tattoos after WLS

It's beautiful! I love the vibrant colors. I'm so sorry about the loss of your mom... The ink is a beautiful tribute to your love for her. I'm so excited about your tattoo, something else to put in your book. Please let me know when the tour bus is leaving so I can start packing. Jen Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  17. Whats your food look like each day?that is a good question.I usually wake up at 6 AM, I take a protein shake or a bar (Quest). Then I go to the gym from 6h45 to 8h15. 15 minutes elliptical to warm up, a 30 minutes weight lifting with 80% of max weight and high rep until failure of the muscle group. I usually do 3 x 10-12 reps of different exercises, then 30 seconds rest and another set of 3. 30 minutes running to finish. Once I get to work I have another bar / shake. At lunch I usually take a salad (2 boiled eggs, some chickpeas or beans, couple of cherry tomatoes, green. No dressing) and a fat free yogurt for later. no snack in the afternoon. If I am hungry, I go for another yogurt. in the evening I usually go for scrambled eggs (2), or sea food (shrimps, squids, smoked salmon) and a smoothie (Watermelon, light cranberry juice is my favorite). no late snacks. During weekend I usually take lest protein shakes / bars and eat poultry, fish, etc. I don't have any cravings or things I want to eat. I select food I know will work for my sleeve, but I don't miss anything...yet. it may change later. I don't know. I don't enjoy eating as I used to (which is a good thing because that is the reason why I am obese), even if I still cook for my family during the weekends. This is a good thing as I want to move on with my life and have other objectives. Hope it helps. Awesome post. I love it when members detail what they eat and their activity level- it's very helpful and I always get some good ideas. Can you share how you make the watermelon smoothie? I'm convinced I'm part fruit monkey- can't get enough. Btw way to go!!! You are on fire!!! Love your attitude. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Pre Op Diet Starts Today

Bobbieswife- YOU HAVE GOT THIS. I've read some of your posts and you are set! I can't wait to hear about your progress. Keep us posted, ok? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  19. I had two C sections and while recovery wasn't horrible (like Christinamo I got a baby!) it was in my opinion much harder than recovery for the sleeve. With sleeve I went in Weds, out Thursday, weekend was devoted to walking out the gas pains (That. Part. Hurt) and by Monday I was back to errands, dog park, gardening. With a c section you get the gift of a child. With a sleeve you get the gift of a healthier you- it's all good! Best of luck and take care. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  20. I completely understand that you may be scared, but how were the last posters insensitive? If you read back to the OP she states she was "bummed and discouraged" because she discovered she was going to lose slower than others because she is at a lower starting weight and only has 60-70 pounds to lose. She ended by asking for input from members with similar stats to share their weight loss stories. They took the time and they responded. They made the very good point that while it may take longer, they are maintaining their loss and that's what most people want- a loss that finally doesn't come back! So how was that insensitive? Them taking their time to respond? Sharing their opinion? I think both posters were incredibly supportive. I'm sorry you aren't feeling well and I'm sure there are some threads that can address the issues you are having. I'm fairly new to this site and am incredibly thankful (and at times in awe) of how thoughtful and caring the majority of members are. There are members here, especially veterans who's advice I value and respect. Even when it's tough love! I truly hope you feel better. Best of luck with your journey. 21. Wow can I relate to this!! I had a band too for 6 years before it up and died. By then my eating habits had gotten much better but I panicked and tried living on a low calorie diet consisting of bacon and phentermine (diet pills). I ran around looking and probably smelling like a hyper little piggy. My weight kept creeping up despite my best (worst for metabolism) efforts. I got my sleeve 6 weeks ago today and am slowly getting my calories up like so many members here have suggested. I'm aiming for 1000 (maybe more) because I'm pretty active and don't want to run out of energy. So good to read everyone's personal experiences. I would be at a loss without this site for info. Thanks so much everyone. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Low BMI Gastric Sleeve story

Awwwwww.... Yes!!!! But I warn you I'm a hugger too and I've been told I hug too hard. Is there really such a thing? I say no! Here is a hug for finding out you don't have to do the liver diet. I'm doing a little dance for you too. La la la la la. This surgery has released some crazy surge of energy in me to the point where my poor family has taken to hiding from me (the dog too- traitor!). Next week my kids and I head down to Miami where they will go to summer camp for 7 weeks. It's a science and archeology camp right on Biscayne Bay. They get to kayak, fish, dissect sharks, tromp through the Everglades and check out Indian middens. The problem is they won't let me in!!! Something about an "age limit". Pffft. So I've devised a mommy camp- I bike, kayak, take yoga classes and can mango chutney that no one will eat. This will be our 4th year doing this and last year the heat got to me... Now that I've had surgery I cannot WAIT. I love the idea of a camelback for my adventures. Ok, off to REI to make that purchase! Don't forget the sunscreen people! Low BMI Gastric Sleeve story

Hey there! I was a lower BMI going in for revision from band to sleeve (34.6). I'm 6 weeks out and feel like I could do anything. I live in Florida and it's HOT. Hot hot!!! I'm outside most of the day and if anything, I have a lot more endurance than before and no issues at all with staying hydrated. I kind of don't understand the hydration issue some people are talking about... After the initial swelling goes getting fluids in is no problem- or maybe I was just lucky!! I also went on an overnight kayaking trip exactly a month out from surgery. Just me and my 12 year old daughter. We kayaked the entire day, set up camp totally on our own, kayaked the next day and loaded gear into truck. Again, no problems at all. I packed a lot of low cal Gatorade and Water in my mini cooler and of course too my Protein shakes. I totally agree with others that your should listen to your doctor and take it slow to begin with. I just wanted to share my experience- it's been so much easier physically than I ever anticipated. The food and hunger part is different- that's mental work! But I'm so glad my body is enjoying the challenge. Enjoy all the activities, stay safe and hydrated! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  25. I have a Jawbone Up that I love. I aim for 10,000 steps a day and I'm incredibly competitive with myself. If I don't make my steps during the day I head outside and walk laps around the pool. My husband knows where to find me at 11:30 pm if the dog is sitting by the back door... He usually opens the door and yells out something along the lines of "you are insane thank god the neighbors can't see you goodnight watch out for raccoons the dog and I are going to bed!" I often walk in my pajamas so I so I guess he has a point about the neighbors. Did I mention I sing? But I get those steps DONE! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
